Well, I had some watercolor in grade school, age 8 I believe and since then have been in oils. I stumbled across your you tube presentation and decided to follow your tutorials. I am excited to do so.......right now, I`m 92 and looking forward to a new venture.

Thanks for sharing! Art makes life more beautiful
You teach better than all the others I've watched. Some just paint and don't say anything, so you don't learn how or why they did what they did. Thank you for explaining things so well! Please continue!

Thank you again, Professor Chen. You are the only one who has given drawing instructions to measure accurately, leaving nothing out. You do the same with painting.

Thanks your workshop helps a lot.
I'm very delighted to see that you know how your paper, amount of water and colours work together. It is something I got trouble with as different papers and a lot of other factors ofc make the colours act differently. Have a great day and thank you for the video!

Wowww... you make it SO easy to understand how to apply value, how to adjust the color with water, how to see details as shapes, how to mix colors and create so much depth! I'm not so afraid of watercolors anymore and really want to jump in and get started! My only questions are what brand of watercolor paper and watercolors are you using? Thank you so much for your tutorials!

Yong Chen Perfect! Now I know where to get that LARGE set of watercolor "pens" (with attached water barrels). I got a set of 5 from Amazon but the tips aren't varied enough. One last question on the paper: I've used Strathmore watercolor paper before but it tends to curl. Do you pre-treat your paper with any water or other medium first then let it dry and shrink, or do you just tape it down and start painting? I tend to get better results with Canson watercolor paper & prefer it most. ( I haven't had a chance to use the Arches yet only because it's more expensive and I've put off buying it.) Thank you again for all of your time and instruction. :)

Could you talk more about the way you mix colors? This is where I get into problems. By the time a few minutes pass, the colors get murky and when I try to do it all over again, it's never the same again. Help!! :(
