It didn’t wake up because it was not designed to survive for more than 14 days. It was cheap because it was not designed to store energy during the night.

Very detailed video. Learned a lot listening to your explanation of moon environment & mechanical challenges..👍 I always thought the Gold mylar film was for protection from radiation, now I learned it's also for heat retention.♨

Now I think making the lunar lander alive using the remaning propellar was much more important than the hyped hope test that was scheduled, we could have brought in more science than the media publicity.

In my unscientific mind they should have invented/deployed an igloo in which the craft could hibernate. You're welcome! ❤

When the Plutonium 38 heater has been used earlier, why isro didn’t use the system . China had used this, so why spend so much and operate only for one day compared to many days or years with P38 heating? Just curious.

Just to correct you, it's plutonium 238. Handling of any radioactive material has safety issues associated with it. Moreover, it would further increase the cost of the launch as inclusion of radioisotope heating unit and system would increase the overall weight to be carried to the moon. Hope you get the idea.

Plutonium 238 is 8 million for 1 kg. And there are insane and expensive challenges to have it properly working

Plutonium heater has been used by the USA and China. This is an old technology but quite successful in keeping the critical instruments warm in minus 40 degrees centigrade. Why did the scientists decided to not use this simple way is not explained.

Handling of any radioactive material has safety issues associated with it. Also, it would further increase the cost of the launch as inclusion of radioisotope heating unit would increase the overall mass to be carried to the moon and thus the amount of fuel required for propulsion would also increase.

@revolutionaryengineering Absolutely agree. However, the continuity of the mission is a priority so that information on the surrounding of the craft can be assessed over a long time. That was the primary aim of the mission.

Brother, Apollo 11 had human foot steps, marked on the surface of the moon, but our emblem couldn't get printed. Could please guide why?. Thank you. Love your videos. 🙏👍

The characteristics of lunar regolith can vary from one location to the other. The location where Vikram had landed probably has a lumpy lunar soil. The apollo 11 landed on a different location where the soil was relatively more dusty. This could be the reason why the rover had no clear imprints.

Chandrayan, india's space program, are all good but when the rocket takes off Indians and media get to a frenzied state and start acting as though we, Indians, have conquered the milky way. We haven't learned to be muted in our reaction. Patriotism, nationalism, all isms take centerstage until they come up with what could go wrong would statements. Let us try again but this time and in future please retain it in the fold of scientific temper and within the boundaries of ISRO and such agencies. Keep politics out of it and keep ministers off TV screens sharing the stage with scientists who toil day and night to achieve indias greatness.

Easy to give advise like sage or saint on internet, you have consider other factors. People are that sophisticated and mlm this will go on for some time and it will go down as s India progresses. I was shocked on how people is USA shout and scream when rocket is launched, I allways wonder what there is to shout and scream? But people are people.

Degrees to + 125 Degrees and check it's functional aspects accordingly which is found suitable. Same goes with a system. temperature testing in chambers of hot or cold and results are defined when the system is in chamber. Now coming back to Chadrayan we take the south pole as the chamber and accordingly design the semiconductor installed in the module and try to see the performance.
