I am so surprised... wow. I wasn't a fan of kpop fan first but I fell in love with BTS when my future was very unsure and they put a smile on my face and then I got into the meaning of their songs... So yeah, BTS will be always special, will always be my pillow when I feel sad. Their lyrics is so smart. Some kpop groups are nice or sing a bit about mental health too but BTS takes the crown I think. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO

As a therapist, I enjoyed your breakdown on their songs. I started with Dope 4 years ago, and the rest is history. The fact that they are spreading great values globally is what I feel our youths need during this time. I love that they talk about good work ethics, pressures on today’s youths, mental health, coping skills, losing selves to others, finding love for self and celebrating own uniqueness. I’m almost 50 and I’ve had my share of music, and you’re right, there’s nobody like BTS.

Thank you so much for this! This is a validation for me. I am not a weird 30-something-year-old who is obsessed with BTS 😅 I also discovered BTS back in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. You know what they say that you will discover BTS only when you need them and I did! I was mentally struggling because of the pandemic and I felt like I was not myself. But I heard and saw BTS, I relate so much to their message of self-love, not giving up, how they talk about the complexities of a person etc. Their songs are so comforting for me. I listen to their songs all the time (while working out, doing everyday chores, even when I am homeschooling my son). To be honest, I watch too much of their videos 😅. Their personalities, their charisma, how they joke around and have fun are so comforting for me and make me happy all the time. My son loves Fake Love so much when it was released back in 2019 and back then I thought that BTS is just a fad and to think I was also a fan of boy-bands (*Nsync, BSB, etc) back in the day. As a single parent, it is nice to see my son looking up to artists/celebrities like BTS. How BTS conduct themselves as human beings are refreshing to see in an industry where everything is out there. I talk about BTS for hours. Anyway, ending my comment here. I can give you a whole list of my favorite BTS songs. But right now, I am loving Butter! Thank you again! I hope to watch more of your reactions/thesis on BTS and the BTS universe. 👍🏼👍🏼

Would love a reaction to Magic Shop too since it’s also based on a book by a Stanford professor. “Into The Magic Shop” by James Doty. Not sure how much psychology is from the book but the concept of that magic shop in the mind is definitely fascinating stuff for a psychologist. And another two songs I would really love you to tackle is Liar by Jimin, and Stigma by V. Both have darker subjects. Liar is a musical masterpiece and Stigma is mysterious.

K-pop helped me to weather this year in a way that gave me ways to share joy and empathy with others. Dancing and singing BTS songs with my granddaughters all year, amusing my friends with BTS facts, and dancing through my housework while listening to day6 and T X T have all been moments that lifted my spirits and kept me hopeful. Like many others, BTS came in to my life at a time when I needed a little respite, some soothing, and some healing. Their music is brilliant, I love the diversity of their albums, and I love how exceptionally talented they are, their lyrics are relevant and complex, their melodies are poignant or uplifting, their voices full of pain or joy - they are very expressive and very real. However, I am actually Army (i am a member of their official fan club), I’m a very practical registered nurse, and I don’t spend money on frivolous things (usually), and I would not spend hours watching video (especially where I have to read subtitles all the time) of people I don’t know...But I do both with BTS, and I have done it since 2015 - the reason is fairly simple, I love who they are, as men. I have watched them grow up (I’m a similar age), they are good men, they have integrity and decency, they treat each other and people in general with kindness and respect, they are funny and warm and genuine. They make me want to be better, and do better. As much as it is possible, with people I have never met - I love them 🤷‍♂️🙏💜 They make me happy, they make me look deeper, and they assure me that humanity is worth all the trouble. Thank you for supporting them too

Thoroughly enjoyed your video. I found BTS back in 2017 when i was deciding up a career path for myself. The only problem was, i didn't have a dream so i didn't know what path to choose. On the other side, my friends were sure what they wanna do or wanna become and it made me anxious, felt like there's something wrong with me for not having a dream when everybody does. That's when i first found their songs like Paradise, So Far Away and Path/Road. Never knew i'll be a fan of a boyband all the way from South Korea but the message of those 3 songs helped me a lot and my love for their music kept growing more and more as the years rolled by.

What a great reaction! As you said it is so validating to watch another experience those same feelings of excitement, awe, happiness and recognizing the depth of the messages within their lyrics and their level of talent. Knowing BTS truly breaks through into another level as performers & artists is so inspiring which is even more amazing as they have reached global success singing in their native Korean language. Their music draws you in but as you begin to explore you also begin to fall in love with BTS as individuals and it's an amazing moment when you realize they genuinely love us back. They want us to celebrate ourselves and actively choose to promote self-love and inclusion of what makes us unique as individuals. I am constantly amazed by why some wonder why BTS has such a devoted, loyal and ever increasing fan base called Army but the simple answer is you just have to watch them. They have worked hard to get where they are and have overcome and faced many hardships, so as fans, we develop growing admiration for their dedication and passion to their art, each other and their team and lastly, to their fans. I'm a 47 year old Army mom and never could I have imagined how much I love BTS as I stream videos, investigate what they mean, buy albums and pretend I can mimics their dance moves (but only in my mind) and I am happy I fell down the rabbit hole of the BTS universe. I proudly walk around in my BTS t-shirts, have Kookie and Tae plushies keychain hanging from my purse and forever will be Army. My bias wrecker rotates among 6 of the members daily, sometimes hourly, and yes, I have a bias but this never lessens my admiration and love for all the members as BTS is 7 and I love them all. Thank you again for your reaction! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I think you touched on something that makes BTS so special which is that they often have very top 40s sounding production but the content of their music is really deep. There's so much going in I need U MV, and the parallel universe that starts there (they have 2 books called The Notes 1 & 2, a webtoon called Save me, and a videogame talking of this parallel BU or Bangtan Universe, you can find them online). Some of their albums and MV are related to the story of 7 boys who met at school because of a punishment, but whose stories were the real social unfair punishment in some way, then they separate and when one of them goes back, finds the others in a very bad position, most of them committing suicide. The one who comes back can travel in time to change things, but everything fails again and again, so he keeps traveling in this loop. I think these eras (The most beautiful moment in life, Wings, Love Yourself) can be so meaningful and helpful for teenagers and young people! Because there is like a guide to the path of knowing and loving onself.

I’m so happy and your energy is bouncing all over the place. My story: I found BTS at my lowest point. I was demotivated, my family was ill, I had stop therapy because of COVID. My sister forced me to listen to ON, and I was like okay they’re nice. And then…I listened to Fake Love. That song was it for me. I was overwhelmed to the max. I didn’t listen to any song (not even Fake Love) after it. It spoke to me. And then I just SLOWLY started getting into BTS. Slowly because I kept getting overwhelmed because of the message and content and the music itself. I’m feet deep into it and I have no regrets. The first time I cried in full was when I listened to Magic Shop. That song spoke to me like my therapist would. I cried a bunch. And then I cried while listening to Blue and Grey and Spring Day. It was all tragic but also beautifully healing. I have never not cried while listening to these three songs. People ask me why I’m into them when they’re *gasp* Asian (racist much?) and I can’t even understand what they’re saying (uh hello subtitles). They defy all stereotypes. Some people think it’s just because of the looks. They are beautiful men yes. But before EVERYTHING, I fell for the lyrics. Because they speak to you, they make you feel heard and validated, like you said. It’s my way of knowing that this group of men, miles away know what I’m going through and there are so many people going through something. No matter what people say, the message they put out through puzzles and wordplay and music is unparalleled. They’re the reason I got to span out into Korean music and culture as well. My only regret is not knowing or opening upto them years back and not being able to give them the support and love they deserved. But someone said that you always find BTS when you need them the most. And that’s what Yoongi said, ‘the day you found us, is the day we debuted for you’ Thank you again. This was a beautiful and wholesome video.

Spring Day is such a special song because it’s theorized that BTS wrote this about the Sewol ferry accident that killed 304 people, 250 of those being high school kids. There was a lot of corruption involved and many families didn’t know what really happened for years. To sum it all up, the coastal guard basically let those people drown even though they could have saved so many more and also wouldn’t let civilians that were on boats to help pull kids out. The South Korean government blacklisted 10,000 artists who criticized them for their horrible response to this accident so BTS couldn’t say that this song was for the survivors and families, that’s why it’s only a theory but there are many videos to watch that explain and analyze Spring Day to point out the references to the victims. Taehyung had said that this was his favorite music video and even before knowing the theory it has also been my favorite as well. Every time I listen to Spring Day I think about all those teenagers that drowned and those they left behind; please never forget them too.

Although, I agree that currently masculinity is very toxic, this is how I see masculinity - as extremely confining. Maybe if we use this term more often, more men will start to question how strongly they're holding onto limitations rather than reacting defensively to the word "toxic". I really hope you continue to react to BTS' songs. I'd love to hear more in depth analyses of their music.

As an ARMY and a psychology student, this is so fun to see! I love their entire discography, and I really appreciate how they can evoke such specific emotions in their music. Like "Black Swan" is all about the feeling every artist goes through when they're scared they're falling out of love with their craft. In "Paradise," you get this amazing song with a message that it's okay to just live life rather than worrying about chasing after dreams that don't necessarily call to you. BTS have plenty of songs about dreams (their debut song was "No More Dream"), and I love that even though they encourage people to follow their dreams, they still make sure to tell people that it's okay to not have dreams, it's okay to not figure it out right away, it's okay to just want to be comfortable and happy. They're also not afraid to critique the government or societal expectations, like in "Silver Spoon" where they talk about the current generation's problems with bird metaphors or in "Am I Wrong" where they bash capitalism. It's really refreshing to see in music, and they have done a wide range of concepts and genres.

Rm's MONO is my therapy honestly... It feels so comforting to know all these complex emotions I feel others feel them too and it's okay to feel such things. BTS literally helps me get through life all the time 💜

I’m not even half way done with this video and it’s already my favorite BTS analysis I’ve ever seen. My friends always joke that I could probably write a thesis on BTS but you have voiced my thoughts in a much more articulate manner than I ever could. The next time someone asks me why I love BTS, I’m sending them this. Thank you so much for this video 💜💜

Great reaction! I love BTS! My favourite is their newest song Butter. If you like KPop and Queen you'll be blown away by Forestella singing Bohemian Rhapsody. I couldn't agree more about music's role in helping us get through (read: survive) the pandemic.😊

Oh my, you understand the 'Give up on 3, Give up on 5'. Intellectual! A song I always listen everytime I wake up in the morn is Mikrockosmos, or Answer: Love Myself.

Idk why that fits into logic but BTS really saved my life. I know many people said this before and i didn't believe them at time..like how a band can save you? But When I was batting my own depression i suddenly stumbled upon their video.. then their concert and crackhead videos then the meaning behind their songs.. i was actively watching them 11/12 hrs a day. Idk how but somehow they slowly removed every bad thoughts in me. I started smiling and doing my chores months later.... slowly their music become my motivation..like a happy pill..when ever i feel bad or lonely I watch them. Or whenever I have panic or anxiety attacks i watch them.. they worked like magic instantly calm me down.
