Double Layer Minecraft Cake Recipe IRL!!

INGREDIENTS
Cake
- 1 Box of cake Mix
- (Box ingredients required for cake mix)
Frosting
- 4 Sticks of Softened Butter
- 1 TBSP of Vanilla
- 4 TBSP or 1/4 cup of Milk
- 1 32oz package of Powdered Sugar (1lb)
Decorations
- 8 oz. package of Red Fondant
- (optional) Minecraft themed Legos (makes it 10 times cooler)
STEPS
CAKE
- Prepare cake batter from following the instructions off the cake mix box.
- SPLIT and pour batter into 2 cake Square inch tins (8in or 9in)
- Bake Cake at 350 degrees for about 25-30 mins until cake is fulling cooked
-When cake is fully cooked, take out of oven and place cake upside on cutting board or plate (this is going to make it flat)
- Let both cakes cool off before applying frosting
TIP: If cake top does not go flat, use a serrated knife to cut across cake giving it an even surface. Afterwards, Freeze cake for about 45 mins so cake bits don't go everywhere
FROSTING
-Put 4 sticks of softened butter inside bowl than stir
- Next Add 1 32oz package of Powdered sugar, 1 TBSP of Vanilla, and 4 TBSP of Milk.
- Stir with a spatula for about 30 seconds and 2-3 mins with a hand mixer.
ASSEMBING CAKE
-Spread frosting across 1 square cake ( My first layer cake is facing right side up)
- Place second cake upside down on the first layer
- Apply frosting to the top of the second layer (try to make it as smooth as you can)
- Apply frosting to the sides of the cake all the way until the half way mark of the first layer
- Place cake in freezer for 45 Mins (Makes cutting/smoothing the frosting 10x easier)
- Take cake out of freezer and cut 2 rectangles inside frosting. Repeat to each side (look up an image of Minecraft cake if you need help)
TIP: Dip knife inside hot water to heat it up than wipe with towel. This helps your butter-knife to make clean cuts.
-Next grab a serrated knife and scrape off the outer layer of the lower half of the cake.
- Smooth cake as much as you can and get started on the toppings
TOPPING
- Cut out 6 small squares and 4 large squares out of snack box or cereal box and set aside.
-Roll out 1 8oz bag of red fondant and place cutouts on fondant.
- Use a knife to trace cutouts and place red fondant squares on cake
