Back in medieval times you were considered illiterate if you didn't know Latin but pretty much everyone could read and write their own native languages. That misconception carried on and now we stupidly think anyone who didn't grow up in modern times was illiterate. When in reality literacy was not the issue people think it was.

Fun fact: My parents worked at a Coco's restaurant nearby that ToysRUs and Sylvia Browne was actually a regular there, my mom told me Sylvia was a terrible tipper and that she was generally an unpleasant person. the funniest part of this is the idea of a Toys R' Us putting the storeroom out of action for 2 whole days. Corporate must have just LOVED that.

"Psychic" Sylvia Browne was one of the worst kinds of people. She predicted missing persons to distraught families and on more than one occasion claimed someone was dead when in fact they were very much alive. Not only did she straight up lie to them, she sought out the opportunity to do so for the media spotlight. She was an awful woman, but now she can really talk to as many ghosts as she wants to because she's dead. I'm so happy you addressed this.
