Real even is such a tricky one to cope with, because a memory is anything that happened in the past, so it could be a real event from 5 years ago or even 5 minutes ago!!

OCD is a shapeshifter. YES. I think this is why it's so hard for some people to get diagnosed/figure out OCD is the actual issue as opposed to something else. Especially if you have pure ocd/themed ocd as opposed to outwardly visible rituals and compulsions.
I am currently in the middle of a spike regarding real event pocd which for years ocd seemed satisfied, but the death of someone I love from cancer and stress of new job ,has started again and I've been abusing coedine ,prescribed and drinking ,and I'm an addiction worker ,so please don't apologise for your use ,something has to give right ? Your a beacon chrissie never forget that xx
This combine with POCD which i struggle with the most freaks me out.

The combination of ocd, depression, and substance use is vicious. Thank you for sharing. I go through exactly the same thing regarding life events / situations.
This was such a help to me. Thanks for being so brave to talk about your own struggles so others, like me, can benefit.
I am so grateful for what you're doing Chrissie.. Thank you a thousand times! Much love
I can’t tell you how much your advice has helped me with my ocd ❤️ thank you so much for your support and in depth content!
Thank you so much for sharing Chrissie. Great insight from your lived experience of yet another way OCD morphs into our lives. 🙏🏻
i've been thinking if real event ocd is linked to trauma/ptsd, trauma brings so much guilt.

This woman helps so many. Well done
Thanks for doing a video on this, Chrissie. I think it’s especially hard because the event actually DID happen, so the anxiety’s pretty high. Thankfully, my therapist and I have figured out a way to deal with it (i.e. ERP therapy). I think feelings are magnified because of the reality element and the culture in which we currently live.
Thank you for sharing your experience! OCD isn't linear, its in the past, present, future, its everywhere, and it can become anything.
I love you chrissie! Whenever i feel myself spiraling again or i have a switch in theme, i always go back to you and ali greymond. You have changed my life.
Omg I was laughing so hard at 3.30 when you said, hello that's the nature of ocd as I already saw myself checking what would be true for me 😂
I have experienced some of the exact thingd you have mentioned and i keep having doubts thats its ocd especially now that im going in for NOCD assessment and hopefully treatment. Its terrifying and this gives me hope, you deserve to feel the same hope you offer, thank you so much ❤
You’re just actually amazing so thank you. You’re not alone by miles ❤
woww okay...so everytime my mind is like "yeah this is going to happen so I should just end it now..." that's OCD. its hard to believe it's like this and not a genuine thought. I almost feel like it's trying to protect me from an outcome. but its not.
Omg I love you!! Subbed!!
I love your videos. You really know how to make make laugh even amid the hell of OCD😂
Honestly you could make your videos 5 hours long and I would listen to ALL of it
You are a inspiration
Great video! Could you please make another video about ROCD and maybe it’s connections with HOCD? Thanks! 💖
That was really helpful, thank you.
you’re awesome!
Thanks. Another helpful resource is that book "30 Days to Stop Obsessing" by Harper Daniels.
Can we have a peer support group about real event OCD please? ❤️

Oh my god this is exactly what I’m going through, I know I haven’t done anything wrong deep down but I’m more worried about what the other person could say
I've been struggling with this since I was 8 years old along with compulsive confessions I'm only 13 and real event / False memory is my biggest theme. Thank you for this video

Omg it seems that I had this theme when I was a kid, this feeling of huge guilt when you did something you think is terrible and somehow you think you’ve hurt emotionally another person even though it’s just a silly thing
Thanks for sharing 👍
I've been going through this and it's made worse from past drug and alcohol abuse. I don't know what else to say other than it's absolutely exhausting and devastating. Came out of nowhere a month ago and it's been a whole month. Mentally I've been going back and forth through 30 years worth of memories trying to figure out if I did something.

@Jacobwdy it's been going on since the end of February. About a week ago I went in to try to get back into some kind of treatment and or medication. I go back next month and they will probably add another medicine to that. I've tried a lot of different medications in the past but hopefully it'll help.

I’ve commented on your KZread before but I deleted booth comments because I was scared. I hate my intrusive thoughts. I hate that I’m stuck like this. I hate that for the past 7 fing months I’ve had intrusive thoughts everyday. I hate that I feel nervous and anxious around everyone and my family. It’s too much and I’ve started to talk deeply with my counselor about it. I know it’s a healing process and learning a new relationship with intrusive thoughts but it’s so hard and it feels like too much. And my parents are questioning me mental well being and they are worried but I can’t tell them that I’m a monster and have disturbing thoughts everyday. They would hate me forever. It just all feels too much

I've never thought of killing my wife but as soon as you talked about it I thought of it and now I'm fighting to not think about it. Is that a sign of ocd?
It’s not surprising that it can cause serious depression with people. Ocd is horrific
Does anyone here take psyh meds and than your ocd tells you that you screwed up your brain and obsess and ruminate about that?
One night in my childhood my father unconsiously started rubbing my leg as he thought dt it was my mother's leg and nw I am suffering from the guilt dt y I didn't take back my leg immediately?

Everyone talks about ocd but never walks or technically teaches how to apply the skills.
