Real Driving Test in 2 Weeks and There's LOTS to Work On!

One of these mistakes is so complicated I had to ask an examiner for help!
Sofia is not from Hither Green but she's got a test here SOON!
One thing Hither Green is famous for is hard roundabouts, and she hates them!

Getting a minor for correction seems unfair. It need to change. Correction should not be counted minor if its done safely.

pull up on right and reverse 2 car lengths was my manoeuvre I had to do on my test even though I could do all the other manoeuvres to a good standard I found pull up on the right reverse 2 car lengths easiest so when the examiner told me to pull up on the right and reverse I had it in the bag as it was a straight road so all I had to do was my observations and count to 2 seconds to stop and do my observations to make sure I did not get pulled up on my observations

Rockin' the beard there, Franco! I'm a goatee man myself 😎👌As for Sofia, I have no doubt that she will most likely pass next time. She sure seems like a pretty good advanced learner, something that I'm still trying to polish off myself! My lesson earlier (and last week) were probably 2 of the best I've had in a long time. But it's being CONSISTENT with it enough so that I can ACTUALLY be ready for my test that's the final hurdle.......

Well done with the parking and spotting the pedestrian. The only thing that would help is actually to use big steering strokes. So put your hand at 12 either the right or left depending on what side you are parking on. Then you are qt the points you want to turn give 1 big pull say to 6 or 7 plus a bit pushing with the opposite hand . It just simply means less for your hands to do. Reference points personally i would use my body is in relation to the first line or inside line . Then aim to steer towards the outside line. Then as you're entering and straightening up you should be nicely in between. Not every space is possible to swing into first time. It all depends on how far you can stay away from the space on the opposite side and your vehicles turning circle. What you did well at is not rushing which is where most people get wrong when parking . The important important bit of know whats around is more important than bish bash bosh done in with 1 take

Shame about failing little tip when passing any hazard on the left is to focusing more on the space to the right. This will then keep you away fom the hazard. At the beginning when you passed a van with a man getting stuff out I would have position right to the centre line or even slightly over. It just means that if they step back they have room. The right turn at the end if you had gone forward you would have had a better view . Any really difficult junction think where can I get the best view whilst being in a safe position without blocking traffic. When you did set off well done in spotting the traffic and waiting. Many people would panic and go

I have done all of those formats. Studio comments I tried once because I wanted to be able to pause the action (there was a lot going on) and be able to explain it in depth, it was popular, so I've done it a few more times. Welcome to comments and suggestions though. I literally just make the videos how people tell me they want them!

He never gives me any feedback or advice on driving just tells me off if I'm going too slow or do something wrong. I knew nothing about any of the preparation routines the only reason I knew mirror, signal, manouver is because I had lessons years ago 15 to be exact I was getting up to test standard then was hit by a car and became ill I've now years later fought my way back, got my provisional back and need to pass my test to help Me with returning to work and help me manage my life there is a lot more to it to it'd take ages to explain on here. Hey Helen! It sounds like you've been through a hell of a lot and you're looking at the light at the end of the tunnel... what you need is the right people and the right support around you to get there 😊 I bet you've got a fantastic support network to have achieved what you have done but as one of your goals is learning to drive you need people to support you in that area as well. This instructor does not sound like the right person for the job. Even if they were a recommendation and worked for someone else, they won't necessarily work for you. Try another instructor for a lesson, or better yet try a few! I can guarantee you'll find someone better and more suited to help you unlock the last step in this journey 😊 Let me know if i can help more, or if you need dm me.

Francis is absolutely right. You need a new driving instructor. Don't waste your time, energy and money with him/her. I'd suggest you to book several trials with instructors in your area. Once you feel comfortable with one of them, start with a few hours just to be sure. I have had several instructors: those who just want your money, one was even sleeping during your driving hours and doing his shopping, those are repetitive with the same roads and not doing more manoeuvres, etc.. I mean it took me a while to find the right one. When I felt confident with my choice, I finally had 10 hours of driving and passed my test within 5 weeks. Hope things will get better for you, don't force yourself if you don't feel comfortable with a person and don't give up.

Can anyone explain Jason's verdict on the crossroads to me? I don't quite get it. He says she should've positioned a little further ahead (and the white lines seem to indicate that as well), yet at the same time she was almost an obstruction to the bus. How would you simultaneously position further ahead and further back? I don't see a fault there.

  • @wrightwoodwork

Where she was in a poor position which didn't give the best view. Then when her lights changed and too far back and couldn't clear the junction before the traffic started to move . She was a little bit in no man's land needed to clear the junction. She was lucky in the fact that she didn't effect the other traffic. Next time you are a passenger and someone is doing a right turn accross traffic take note of how restricted your view is compared to when you are in the driving seat and can look further up the road . With being further forward she would of had a better view plus when the lights had changed she would be in a position to clear before the traffic started to move from the other road

@@DrivingSchoolTV just helping people to understand certain thinks or from an angle that they hadn't considered . Compared to when I learned to drive there is far more information. So now if you are struggling with something you can go and watch videos ask questions and people can help to explain it by saying what they would do or give pointers. Obviously the test has changed since I had done it, but certain things haven't like observation and make the examiner feel safe. Certain things like when stopped in traffic I will use the handbrake it's not that I use all the time but my thinking is I'm stopped and I just want a few seconds to chill out and not worry about holding the brake pedal on. Whilst relaxing I can have a scan about the area as to what's happening. Brake lights going off on the car in front is not what I use for a signal to set off I will use more movement from 3 cars ahead. So it's not like panic the car in front of me has just moved and need to go quickly then rush and stall . Obviously that is experience and is developed overtime. The other day coming home to do a right turn the approach has 3 lanes right lane right only, middle straight on and right and left straight and left. The car in the right should only go right. That's not to say they will. So as we set off I'm aware of where they are go past the point they should turn right and pus I want to make sure they stay right when they turn right. Now as I'm at the point I want to turn right and I can't see them yet I know they are there in my blind spot in the van I need to work out why they are still beside me. Have they forgotten I'm here do they want to change direction and go straight which they did . They gave a left to say they have the wrong lane . I did toot to say I'm here and held back to make safe so they could change lanes. I wasn't taking the risk in turning right when I can't see them and I know they hadn't turned. The toot wasn't about reprimanding them more to stop them coming left immediately and I'll make sure you can change lanes safely. It was no use me barging on and making the right turn as they should go right. What people should do isn't a guaranteed. They would have been safer turning right go the wrong way go 200m up the road to the roundabout make a u turn come back and turn right at the lights. This is where having awareness of what's happening around you and not presuming people will do what you expect to do

She has a problem with steering. Her left hand did not go out of shot because when she steers only small amounts of movement take place. You need bigger handfuls to steer well. At 15:40 to turn left at slow speed at the mini roundabout ten rapid tiny movements were needed and she struggled to get them all done in time.
