Real Day in the life of a Freelance Software Engineer
Ғылым және технология
Let's address this "work from beach freelancer" topic. Do freelancers work from the beach, or are they staying in the Airbnb room and working most of the day?

I love seeing how other self-employed people do their work, and how it works out with personal time. Thanks for sharing!

3:16 The coffee cup looks comically small! This was a wonderful video and insight to how you plan the day while working on the road.
Hey man, love to see such videos at the end of my working day, thanks! Keep going. P.S. Glad you are growing as a KZread creator

Great insight to your work/life balance as a traveling freelancer. That work routine can be difficult for many people but if you can make it work and gain extra time with the family it is a win! American here and agree 100% on Dunkin’ Donuts.

The most challenging part is to clearly define when it is work time and when you are switching to vacation mode or taking brake from work. If it is clear for myself and family, then this work/travel mix works well. Yeah, Dunkin's was big surprise, we expected better taste ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I spent a month working remotely from Valencia during COVID. I am full time employee in a big company. I ended up renting a table+external screen in coworking space in Rusaffa. There was plenty of time to spend as a traveller: walking to and from work, coffee breaks, lunch, meeting people. The biggest downside was when you have lots of meeting like I do it can be tricky to find decent place.
SuperB to watch
it always interest me to see how people transition from corporate office setup or jobs to a freelance realm - office anywhere - and unbounded. I am very new to your channel and I would like to thank you for sharing your experiences. I would like to know more on how you managed to transition or even decide to completely leave the corporate job. All the anxiety the transition could bring and more. More videos! Kudos to you Sir

Nice video keep it up🥳❤
Great vlog, it's really nice to see both the dream life and the realistic sides of things too - as someone who wants to be a freelance developer this is inspirational :) You deserve 500K not 50K! Then you can buy 10 pairs of headphones 😅

Great video! I was working for a company the same as you, full hours on b2b contract, but I’ve never considered it freelancing though 😂

It's the consultant's agreement. Consultant and freelancer is the same thing, just sound fancier and often are paid better.
Come on dude, she wanted these headphones. ❤ enjoy Spain my friend.

Great Vid 👍 Hope you get that 50.000 subs soon, Aivars. Why did you choose that contract where you work more synchronized instead of a more flexible one? Was it better paid? Curious to know.
@AivarsMeijers

I chose that for multiple reasons: a better team, paid vacation, and a more challenging project. Last but not least - no connections with Russia.

Programming and communication skills are important for freelancing. Indie app development and content creation is different story and skill set.
buy her those headphones please lol. And also could you make a video on how to start your journey in programming and freelancing? tnx
Awesome video, I always wanted to know what type of freelance you did.

By the way Aivars. Not sure if you use this lens, but the absolute best lens for vlogging on the A7IV is the 20mm f1.8
@AivarsMeijers
Жыл бұрын
I have a 20mm f1.8 lens as well. That is the first one I got for Sony. I planned to get a 24-105 f4 for traveling and pair it with 20mm, but I got a used 16-35 f2.8 for a good price. So, I'm traveling now with it and 55 mm f1.8. 16-36mm, IMO, is better for vlogs. Wider, and you can zoom in for a B-roll as well. Sure, I would like if it is smaller without losing f2.8 aperture ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Daughter asked for a subscription, and Dad got the subscription from me. 😊 Great video btw.

Awesome! Thank you! That was bold move from here, but why not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 🎧
Thank you for your videos, they are inspiring! A special thank you for your stance on the war in Ukraine. Recently, I had an interview with a company from the USA, and at the final stage of the interview, it turned out that my potential team lead is still working from russia. The company has a large office in belarus, meaning they pay taxes in both countries, and they also hired a significant number of former Yandex employees for their office in Europe. This was unacceptable to me, so I declined the position despite the salary and prospects that the new job could have offered. I respect people for whom principles are more important than finances.
Does your team do daily standups? At the day job (consumer antivirus/anti-malware/anti-ransomware) we have a daily “ship room” meeting (focused on the next release, and we release every two weeks) and daily standups for many of the teams.
@AivarsMeijers
Жыл бұрын
Yes, we have those. Daily stand-up + once in a week longer weekly meeting.
Same contract for me. But we also have a 2 weeks demo with buisness, and this is kind of an exams ))

Hi Aivars, how much do freelancers like you get paid on average?

From this video, one thing is very clear... Dunkin Donuts didn't sponsor this video. 😛
So your daughter stays with the grand parents? These things are much easier without kids. I did the digital nomad thing for two years, spent a lot of time across the world. Really enjoyed living in Russia actually.
