For the goggles, I bought some +3 reading glasses from poundland, removed the arms and squared off the edges so they fit inside then inserted velcro backed foam pads to hold them in possition, makes the lenses removable so you can clean them.
Glasses Hack that works : Get smallest dollar store glasses in your strength. Get ( or find ) some string or even a shoelace. Get ( or find in your house ) a spring loaded plastic "clamper" you'll see on hoodies /sweatpants ( eBay ) Take off arms of glasses. I also grind down the ends flat ( for drilling step ) Drill small hole on each aide of dollar store glasses. Thread strings through holes and burn ends with lighter after tying a knot in the end. Or CA glue the end. Run string / lace through clamper. Adjust tension to bring glasses snug to head. Then - you have glasses that will fit IN the device and on your head with no issues. And quite securely as well.
best review on this drone ive seen, nice to see someone with some skill fly this thing to see its potential with a skilled pilot
Love this... built 4 whoops this winter for indoor flying. Whoop is the way!!!!! Thank you sir for your videos. Inspired me to get into micro's so that I can fly almost anywhere at anytime.
Awesome review Nick. Love seeing your learning curve on the set.
Thanks for the review. I ordered this quad and looking forward to flying it in a few days. 😊
Fantastic flying and review, Nick! 😃 Pretty nice little kit! I loved it! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I love the Cetus X. It's my daily garden whoop. It's just a bunch of fun and works with the BetaFPV 1S BT2. 0 450mah packs I have in droves.
good job explaining this set up to people that would be interested in it.
Thanks for the Video. I started with the Cetus Pro. It was nice to have everything in one kit and a nice case. I moved onto better goggles and controller quick, but it's nice to have this still kicking for someone else to try, maybe get more into it and pass it on. Happy Turkey day!
Have since yesterday an antenna mod video. In my opinion, the perfect antenna for the Cetus X FPV kit suitcase and for other quads with a circular antenna !
I used the magnifying lens method on my ev800d. The lens was such a tight fit that it didn't need the glue, just propping it into place was enough.
Hey Nick. I think the format of this video was great. The level of detail and the types of things you covered were just right for a kit like this. And I very much enjoyed (appreciated) seeing the FIRST flights rather than just the 50th flights like most of your videos. Don't get me wrong, it's fun seeing the 50th flights too. So perhaps in future videos (not just beginner kits like this, but maybe ALL the quads you review) you could show us your very first one or two flights, and then also show us a flight or two after you've run the thing through the wringer and have gotten super comfortable with it. Just a thought. Thanks for all of your amazing content!

That is a concept I have long thought about. My recently I have made more of an effort not to just pick the "best" flight rather a flight that does show how I can operate the quad. I worried the perception was either overly positive of my flight skills or that flight is easy.
Great review Nick. Have a bless Thanksgiving you and your family. Many blessings 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Yes, if we look at the frequency charts for fpv it does layout the frequencies and then we compare to typical wifi.
I bought the cetus pro and yeah, the frame isn't all that durable but it definitely was a great learning tool. I still rip it every so often.
Great little setup for getting into FPV. There’s a place for these sorts of drones in the same way that Eachine makes inexpensive gear that enables an easy way into the hobby. BetaFPV have their place too however, their QC has been generally quite bad. You’d be wise to check and provide a de facto QC check prior to flying.😊

It’s so unfortunate, there design team has gotten quite talented over the years. Very clean, simple, no frills kind of design, but not cheap in the hands… I’ve still yet to upgrade my LiteRadio3 - elrs. One of there few products where quality and design struck a perfect balance. If they get it together they could do what iflight is attempting to do but for beginners.
Great job setting expectations for the type of pilot interested in this sort of product. While I'm too experienced for this quad, I trust your reviews more because of it.
Great stuff Nick! I think I might get one of these. The previous models were a little bit too small for outdoor use. That price tag isn't bad for this setup.

I love my Cetus pro, I’ve purchased like 3 of them. Lol. Last one got stuck in a huuuuuuge tree lol! You just have to watch the wind and it is limited to certain maneuvers. However, I would recommend the X or pro to anyone looking to get into FPV.
Setting up multiple Rate Profiles and putting them on a switch makes flying indoors SOO much easier. I have re-purposed the right 3 way switch as POS1 100% Scale Throttle, POS2 50% Scale Throttle, and POS3 is DSHOT Beeper. The right push button is now my Turtle Mode. 50% throttle still gives enough power to zip around the house while not being insanely twitchy. Also - I designed a small 'wedge' to keep the FPV camera at 0 degrees, even when bumped - it can be found on Thingiverse, and works well. Oh, and your USB cable jumper that got caught in the props and damaged - it fits into the small hole right next to the wires, and keeps it out of harms way tucked under the batteries.
That's great flying in the house. I just bought a Emax EZ Pilot FPV Drone to try to learn to fly quads.
Thanks for comparison in size and review.👌👌👌👌
Nice!
Big ask, I know it’s not really your thing, but a video on how you tune for things like yaw washout and other whoop related undesirable flight characteristics would be great… like a “what has worked for me” style video.
Great review.
Hi Nick Great video and review of the BetaFPV Cetus X, RTF. I just love when a company has an RTF kit. It's great that you can purchase a decent kit and a price that everyone can afford. Thanks again for the video and information on the BetaFPV Cetas X

Wait till you get a nazgul or another drone. Goggles, another controller…..THEN you will learn patience. The Cetus Is just the beginning.
Glasses hack. I bought a couple of PVC magnifiers (search for: fresnel lenses magnifier) I cut a 2" strip out of the center width wise. (top or bottom seems to distort) I then put them just inside the foam and cut out a notch in the bottom so my nose would not rub. I am using these in Emax box googles that came with Tinyhawk 3 RTF kit. Not 100% but works for my tired old eyes.
Ive never flown an FPV drone. but I want to get into this!
To your final question: As a complete noob in the FPV drone environment, I found this video perfectly tailored. While I'm interested in tweaks, adjustments, repairs, and other subjects, I'm not ready to get that far into the weeds yet. I literally have no FPV equipment, which is why I'm watching vids like yours to decide what to buy. You created an excellent, informative video review. Thank you! (Liked & sub'd)

Thank you Nick for the video and for your time. I'm a noob to this hobby and I've only trained on the simultator. As a first drone, do you suggest the Cetus X or the Meteor85 (not digital) that you had tested 1 month ago?
@NickBurnsFPV
Жыл бұрын
If you plan to only fly inside the cetus x will be a better fit. If you plan to fly mainly outside the meteor85 will be better. Starting out we can certainly fly the cetus x outside, it will need to be a fairly calm day. The meteor85 is far less friendly inside, but much better outside, which the first few months or so shouldn't be our top concern
I just ordered a gross of new mob75 whoop frames because i flew at 25deg and dinged a street light and the frame shattered. I sure miss TX sometimes, especially this time of year. not quite as much in August.

Nick, can you add second pair of googles for someone just to see the flight? How do you get a passenger viewer? Thank you
@NickBurnsFPV
4 ай бұрын
Yes, analog is wide open anyone with a second set of goggles can tune to the same frequency to see what the person flying sees. Unlike the HD video systems, those have "binding" requirements or what is called spectator view which isn't as good or precise sharing.
In my last video from yesterday (Final episode of my very first FPV) at the very end of the video, you can see in a picture what I will do with the parts of the Cetus X soon. (2,0 inch Twiglet Mini 2S). I only had to change the camera and the VTX, because the camera and VTX from the Cetus X are not compatible with the BETAFPV Micro Canopy 2022 that I really want. It would also be possible to use all parts of the Cetux X with the Crux3 canopy, for example, but the VTX would be loose in the canopy or is more difficult to attach and would probably need an insulated foil so that the VTX does not touch other circuit boards... However the advantage with the Crux3 canopy would be that you would be independent of the BETAFPV ecosystem…

Great!! I have one question: this cetus x is best than mobula 7 1s?
@NickBurnsFPV
Жыл бұрын
No, the mobula7 is going to be lighter and more conducive to inside flight. The cetus x is 2s which is more conducive to outside flight, but it still has a heavier frame so the flight performance will be similar to the mobula7 1s outside.
I bought one of these and really like it but my screen went black except for battery info and text. I didn’t even crash it hard. Any recommendations? I thought this was suppose to be durable.

I REALLY wanted to like this kit - (Betaflight version), but it's honestly been a load of stress the last 72 hours. I did a LOT of KZread research on this, and other beginner kits, as a good start to my FPV flying, but I as of this moment, I felt I've chosen poorly by getting this one. The idea was to use just the controller, connected to my PC, for a good week of training via the fpv flight sims I've invested in. Instead, I have an open support ticket on BETAFPV thats 2 days without a look I suspect, as it asks the very simple question where Windows drivers can be downloaded from to have the included LiteRadio 3 controller act as a game controller for my PC. The manual clearly says they are to install automatically, even with the controller off, which it was - but nope! NOT a thing, and the manual ALSO says in CASE the drivers fail to install automatically, they must be done MANUALLY. BETAFPV just leaves it at that!!! No more instructions, so I, like many others I'm assuming, am left scouring the internet for LiteRadio 3 drivers - which I am convinced now, don't exist anywhere. I've tried this in my own yard about three times, the control is VERY sensitive, and have almost lost this thing 2 out of those 3 times. It's NOT properly tuned, the whoop goes WAY off in a seemingly random direction when I first take off, and I'm at the point of cleaning this right up, and taking it straight back to the Rotor Village outlet where I got it from (luckily, it's only a 2 hour drive). And the driver issue is itself preventing me from getting the skills I actually need to get any good at FPV, even though that's one of their main selling points, along with the ability to record from the goggles straight on to a microSD card. The whole experience has been saddening, and has left me as well quite angry with this company. I'll never buy anything with the BETAFPV logo on it again!
yup durability is an issue

THE VTX IS TRASH. Works great for a few packs. Then boom… if you’re not on 400 mW you can’t see anything at all unless you literally touch antennas. And on the now new supposed 400 mW… You can’t get 40 feet away from yourself. That’s been my experience anyways. I bought 3 quads and got sent 2 c04/m04 cam/vtx. They all have the same issue, except for the one that I got in the mail two days ago… And I’m sure it is only a matter of time. I would love to send these to someone with the proper skill and tools to actually test the output. Lying to customers is a great way to keep new people out of this hobby. That would be a shame. Always love the videos, Nick. Keep it up.
