I was in middle school and this song hit so hard for our generation. Won a talent show in the 8th grade singing it with my homeboy who I went on to later be in an R&B group with right after college.

Ready for the World 🌎 like many artist's back in the 80's often "beat around the bush" unlike today when they mention every part of the human anatomy without hesitation or shame,so technically they really was getting us "Ready for the World" 🌎,...the World of music 🎶🎤 and the World ( in general ) that we live in Today 😅❤

@@smoothoperator7023 Yes indeed.. "Beating round the Bush" is a old classic line used to when referring to sex or any kind of Grown up stuff !!! Basically they usually kept all their song's "clean" and/ or kid friendly.. Clean for the Elderly, Grandparents and all the christian minded, bible loving people during that time period 💯 😂😆

@@laurajohnson2387 true, but still they kept it relatively" Clean" compared to some song's being recorded today !!!! Probably the most dirtiest thing they said in this song is when he said " you so wet" and that could be referring to being caught the rain 🌧️ or taking a shower 🚿 or anything!!!! 😂

I was just a little kid when this came out…and I remember all the “grown” people singing it.. I think RFTW had a “couple” of songs very similar to this “Slide Over” and “Out of Town Lover”(which is probably my favorite) but I can understand why people would not like it! But I 💯 appreciate your honesty it is why I am a proud supporter of your channel 🙏🏻❤️💯

Angela, I think you would have to be a part of those times to understand the progression of sensual music for r&b. I remember buying this album as a teenager and it was a combination of sensuality and rhythm that made this group alluring. This was the era of New Edition, Boys 2 Men and those groups that followed with harder stuff. RFTW was timid compared to what was to come!!!!! 😮😮

All music isn't for everyone, especially when it's generational. I was 13 when it came out and it hit different back then. Idk. I don't like the music of today so I understand. But our generation did spawn "Against All Odds" so we had a few bangers that transcend generations.

So Angela, you ain't gotta like Ready for the World, but at least they had some form of decency and didn't make too much music 🎶 you couldn't listen to around Momma, Grandma or Kid's 😅😂

@@tonysmith-fx5mqYup, THAT was my point! Angela’s generation and Gen Z have grown up with EXPLICIT lyrics that LEAVE NOTHING to the imagination (like you pointed out). But here comes Angela acting all “new” and prudish like she’s never listened to Chris Brown, Usher, Trey Songz and them. I guess it’s bc she’s listening to this in _mixed company_ and feels she needs to front. 🙄 Angela, no offense but just wanted to keep it a buck re: this issue. ✌🏽
