Have you ever wondered if flat earth believers are angered every time they see the beginning of a movie by Universal Studios?
@Hellsong89
7 жыл бұрын
Meh, its just making their delusions stronger, as they think they have discovered secret that rest dont know, or believe and this way they get their daily dosage of endorphin.. essentially they are total fucking junkies, high on delusions... For this reason its really hard to get them stop it, getting junkie into rehab is really hard task and things get even worse when you realize that almost all of the religious folk are junkies to their particular death cult also...

Reason1717 Well... he's not American, is he? I mean, I'm a teacher in Sweden. When we have religion as the subject I'm being questioned by the kids (10-12 year olds) why they have to learn about something that doesn't exist. XD And I tend to say that it's important to know and understand what a lot of other people believe in and take as actual facts and how to be respectful and understanding when you meet them. And that it has shaped our history a lot.
@SysterYster
5 жыл бұрын
Buddy3439 That's how it is in Sweden. :) We teach about all of the five biggest religions, but we never claim them as facts. But point out that it's important to know about them to understand people who do believe and to respect it. Some find it very interesting, some boring and unnecessary... but what can I do. :P Many are astonished by the fact that there are so many religions in the world and want to learn more. For their sake I give a little extra about taoism, scientology, nature religions etc etc. Just to show how much there is in the world.

I am 66 years old and think you are brilliant. Never let those less intelligent sway you with their jealous insults and rants. For the weak mind it is easier to believe the propaganda, fear, and lies then to acknowledge scientific, common sense truth. I see you have 148 thousand subscribers now! Well done! Keep up the great intelligent and witty videos. Oh! and in my opinion the set of drawers is very artistic and unique. I love it! Keep up being unique and thinking for yourself. If only more people would seek the truth of things then just following the crazy pied pipers out there leading all to their doom. The sad part is they will take unfortunate innocents with them.

Just wanted to say that I am one of the people that feel your concepts are pretty spot on. Your intelligence is quite evident and your skepticism and motivation to research reality speaks quite well of your ideology. I commend you for putting your ideas to a public forum knowing full they may be ridiculed by those with narrow and limited viewpoints of reality and your ability to laugh at said ridicule in such a humorous manner says much for your humility. I appreciate your videos for their rationality and lack of hostility. Too many on both sides of this debate have tendencies to become quite agitated and aggressive. It is refreshing to see another level headed individual using logic and reason to support their message not just how loudly and ignorantly they can yell. Thank you for taking time to share your views with us.

Where's the drawer
Hi Alex, I'm very sorry that the lower half of the Internet escaped their cells to deliver such a deluge of hate towards you. It truly is amazing how so many people who hate you spend hours watching your channel. As a Humanist I don't spend any time on religious channels, but guess these spectrums of humanity need to vent their uneducated anger and frustrations of things they can't comprehend at someone such as yourself. Your delivery is entertaining, you're are factual, researched, informed and logical. You place a comprehensive argument on all your videos (that I've seen so far) understand fallacies and science. I truly wish more younger people would follow your example, look around at the obvious world surrounding them, and moved forwards with an informed understanding. Great work!
Thank you for the clip of the drawers in the video today, I was missing the drawers. If I hadn't seen them in this episode I don't know if I could have smiled for the rest of the day.
I don't remember the drawers in question. I was too busy listening to what you had to say. I've always said my beliefs or the lack thereof was a bit unorthodox and I enjoy hearing what you have to say. You are obviously more learned than I and your information enlightens me on my journey to the truth.
Nice job! Btw, where did you get your drawers?

Thank you Alex. I really enjoy your videos
Dear CosmicSkeptic, I have a reoccurring issue. As of late, my lovely Christian parents have been referring to me as blasphemous for believing in creation, evolution, and the big bang. In my mind, it actually makes sense for one like myself who is also religious but loves science. I've been watching your videos despite being a Christian myself and I honestly enjoy them. I want to know what your thoughts are. Is it blasphemous to embrace both religious and scientific philosophys? Do you think that it is possible for all three to have occurred?

LOL, how is that blasphemous? Ooh, she believes 2+2=4, burn her! Most educated Christian leaders/thinkers accept the theory of evolution and also our understanding of the physical universe, such as the Big Bang theory. Check out, for example, William Lane Craig, Rowan Williams or John Lennox. On the other hand, those theories seem to have a more solid foundation than the "God hypothesis", so your parents are probably concerned that once you start thinking in a scientific way and question things, you will end up discarding your faith.

aditsu I agree it is absolutely ridiculous that they say things like that but they do and I have to put up with it till I'm 18. I'm 17 years old so it's not that far away. I haven't done a whole lot of research on the possibility but I wanted to ask CosmicSkeptic anyhow.

Becca Sullenberger Of course it is ridiculous that you should have to endure such treatment from those who ought to be encouraging you. It is one of the most common tactics amongst Christians to point out the religious leanings of the many scientists responsible for the various theories you cite. Perhaps you should turn that around on them if you haven't already. Also, there's an excellent science channel on KZread called "Smarter Every Day" which I highly recommend if you aren't already aware of it. The owner, Destin, is not only a believer but ends every video with a quote from the Bible. His faith obviously doesn't conflict with his great interest in science. Again, you could perhaps point this out to your parents. Cheers

I was raised in a very religious family, my father is a pastor, I went to a bible college, I know the ins and outs of christianity better than a lot of christians do. But I'm an atheist. I had to endure similar treatment from my family when they found out, so I understand how you may feel. That being said, It seems your family is rather fundamentalist in their beliefs so when it comes to reasoning with them it may not be possible. It is however possible that a god could have created the universe, but unfortunately that is something we will never be able to fully prove or disprove for that matter. The matter of blasphemy really comes down to interpretation of genesis and wether or not you believe things happened exactly as it says, or if there is room for play because the events happened so long before the book was written. There is also the matter that the bible is supposed to be the inspired word of god meaning god gave the words to the people writing it. For some people contradicting anything stated in the bible is blasphemous. Different interpretations is what sparked the protestant reformation and why there are so many denominations. It is a question in which both answers are correct depending on where you look. It is for those exact reasons I am no longer a christian, the bible claims you must live by faith, but it was written by men, but also claim they were inspired by god. So you must have faith that god spoke to these men in order to have faith that god is real. To me it just screams human action, and we see similar ideas in almost every other religion I.e. the divine know best so therefore we must have faith.

I'm sorry you've had to deal with this. I'm 15 and an agnostic atheist (I don't know if there's a god, and I choose to believe there isn't, if clarification was needed). My mom is a liberal fundamental Adventist, who is so devout in her beliefs that she gets upset when Dad and I have non-vegetarian food. However, my mom is much more accepting of my beliefs (and sexuality, which was an incredible relief) than most fundamentalists, even though she doesn't understand them on a scientific or faith-based level, and the youth group at my church (I still go sometimes) is usually glad to have honest debate. I hope you can find people who are willing to listen, as I have.

Love it! Don't let the haters and wankers get you down. I admire your efforts and find them helpful.
Getting close to 100k now. Good job! Logic for the win!
I notice how it always tends to be that... The people commenting negatively on the intelligence of others... Are usually the dumbest people imaginable...
now I am going to rewatch some videos just to see those drawers... I never noticed
Love it. Guys that was fun , I wish I could have had that kind of maturity when I was your ages, keep it up. New Big Fan!
Dear Alex, I've been watching your videos for about 6 months and have really enjoyed them! Great job keep it up. I'm sorry you've had a bunch of trolls.I think the thing to keep in mind is that personal attacks are usually used by people who can't comprehend interesting or complex ideas. -Simone
I loved your friends in this. Even though every time I watch this I want to know what you wanted to say about the shape of the earth looking like an egg. :( I'm just shocked that I'm older than you and you're so much smarter. I should probably read some more books on these topics.

It's looks like and "egg" because as the earth rotates around the axis the centrifugal force around the equator causes it to bulge slightly.

jimmy joe ...it actually looks like a perfect sphere because the amount that it is wider is not discernible by looking at it. Although it is definitely not a perfect sphere, you would never know that by looking at it.
I still refuse to believe that flat earthers are being serious.
You really are completely adorable - and fricken' brilliant. Your Mum must be so proud. I'm enjoying your videos.
