Reading with GOATS! Mason Harvey, 15, Author & IBD Survivor - (Not Your Average Slice of Pizza)

Welcome to our special video reading of "Not Your Average Slice of Pizza," a heartfelt book written by 15-year-old Mason Harvey, and his Mom Michelle. Mason is a brave survivor of Crohn's disease. Today, I’m sharing this touching story alongside my adorable Nigerian dwarf goats, who love spending time with me.. and have never heard this inspiring story.
About Crohn’s Disease:
Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract. It can affect any part of the GI tract from the mouth to the anus, but most commonly impacts the end of the small bowel and the beginning of the colon. This disease can cause a range of symptoms including severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, and malnutrition. The severity and frequency of these symptoms can vary, making daily life challenging, especially for young people.
Impact on Young People:
For young individuals, like Mason, living with Crohn's disease can be incredibly difficult. The physical symptoms can lead to missed school, limited participation in activities, and a feeling of being different from peers. The emotional and social impacts can be just as significant, often leading to feelings of isolation and frustration.
Mason Harvey's Heroic Journey:
Despite these challenges, Mason Harvey chose to channel his experiences into something positive and impactful. At just 15 years old, he authored "Not Your Typical Slice of Pizza" to help other children facing similar battles. Mason's story features a little slice of pizza navigating life with Crohn's, offering a relatable and comforting message to young readers. His goal is to let other kids know they are not alone and that it’s okay to talk about their struggles.
Mason's courage and creativity in writing this book are truly heroic. By sharing his journey and raising awareness, he is making a significant difference in the lives of other children and their families. His book is a testament to his resilience and compassion, providing both education and inspiration to all who read it.
Join us in celebrating Mason's incredible contribution and learn more about Crohn's disease through this touching story. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share this video to spread Mason’s message of hope and unity.
Personal Letter to Mason from RCSparks / Bidaller Farms:
Hey buddy!! AMAZING and Stupendous job on this wonderful life journey book "Not Your Average Slice of Pizza"! Your efforts in making this book is beyond heroic, and your foundation of love for others is so apparent and heartwarming. I too suffer with this terrible disease, and I wanted to make this video, and offer to share on this channel (not a monetized video of course), but as a special thank you and reward for your hard fought battles and courage you have shown. I know its not much, but I wanted to open and read this with my Goats.. and maybe bring you a smile after having to go back into the transfusion center. Thinking of you!
