Reading the ESSAYS that Got Me Into HARVARD (+Yale, Stanford, etc.)
I will be reading aloud the supplements and essays that I used in my application. I applied last year and was accepted to Harvard, Yale, Stanford, UPenn, Brown, and Dartmouth! Let me know what you thought of my essays in the comments below and let me know what you want to see next!
Check out my last video, where I give super useful tips about everything I learned from applying to 19 colleges: • How I Got Into Harvard...

your essays are beautiful
Thanks a lot! Can you share your set of supplemental essays by schools? It'd be useful to get a holistic picture of how you portray yourself to different schools as each of them have different "personalities". Thank you !!
Your essays are amazing! Would you share the “optional additional information” essay that you sent to Harvard?
loved the video omg! Just a suggestion tho; it will be super helpful if you could upload the essay somewhere in a written format? As a non-native speaker, its quite difficult for me to understand through the different accent+ bg music TT thankyouu

Hey Elsie! Great video, thanks for sharing. I am an international student and I was wondering if my letters of recommendation could be from someone outside of school, for example a teacher from a language institute that knows me well or, maybe someone I work for.

As far as I'm aware (I could be wrong so you should double-check) you are required to have 2 recommendations from school teachers and 1 recommendation from your school counselor, but if you want to submit another recommendation (in addition to the 3 that are required) then that one could be from someone like an employer. I'm pretty sure schools' policies on additional recommendations vary though, so some colleges will look at extra recs and some won't bother.
Could you talk a bit about your voter volunteering?
Did you learn tips to do the essays in high school are did you create this in your mind

Hii, I hope you are doing well, my name is Lilia and I will be going off to college in 3 years but I am already stressing out about college essays and am really trying to find someone who is willing to read my essays and give me comments on them in the future. Do you think you could do that?
are you willing to do essay edits for a fellow qusrstbridge applicant?

I'm in no means an expert, but if you want another set of eyes on your essay then you can email me at elsieincollege@gmail.com Fair warning that I might not be able to get to it right away!
How did you apply to Harvard? I thought if you used questbridge application process you weren’t allowed to apply to any schools outside of that

Nope! Actually, QuestBridge tells its applicants that they should apply to schools outside of QB since all their partner schools are so selective. The only thing you can't do is apply to another school through Early Decision if you also ranked binding schools as a finalist since then you would have 2 binding applications out.

Elsie In College hey sorry to bother- so if I apply to non- binding schools only, through questbridge could I still apply to- let’s use harvard as an example; through their EA program? Just want to make sure I’m getting it right. Thanks

@@combot4128 So sorry, I double-checked and you actually CAN'T apply early action to any schools besides your public state school. But during the regular decision round, you can apply to any schools you want (as long as you weren't matched to a binding school obviously) even if you are also applying to schools through QuestBridge Regular Decision. I was a finalist but wasn't matched so I applied to Harvard during the regular decision cycle.
Do you also read essays and give feedback? Thanks

I do read essays, but only when I have time. During the school semester I am too busy, but over winter break I have more free time to read them.
Lovable 😘
