Like us on Facebook! pages/Blue-C...
For the first time in over 30 years, the two stars of Reading & Northern’s steam fleet, ex-Reading T-1 4-8-4 “Northern” #2102 and ex-Gulf, Mobile & Northern 4-6-2 “Pacific” #425, teamed up for a doubleheaded excursion from North Reading, PA to Jim Thorpe, PA. Thousands of people took to the tracksides to witness this historic event in R&N history, as the train traveled through towns such as Port Clinton, Tamaqua, and Nesquehoning along the way. Now, please enjoy this exciting presentation of doubleheading steam brought to you by Blue Comet Productions!
This video was filmed in August of 2022.

6 chime on 425 sounds a lot like the one she wore when she was restored back to operation in 2007, nice.

I was a passenger on that trip, and both the trip and this video were awesome!! I know the 425 is down for her 1,472-day inspection, but I can't wait to ride behind the 2102 again, and I would also love to see it running on another part of the R&N's system, such as on one of the new Pittston-to-Jim Thorpe runs.

Not to forget, but this was Andy Muller’s 75th Birthday on the day of the doubleheader. He was onboard of the rear of the Black Diamond Observation Car with his family and other invited guests.

@@MackeyBigBoy4014 Regardless.... 1522 still is, in my own eyes, proud of having the title of The World's Loudest Steam Locomotive. :) Cause after all.... even with her being silent now.... one day in hopefully the near future (hopefully by her 100th birthday in 2026), she will return and regain her rightful title. ;)

4 Loudest Steam Locomotives in the preservation era (in no particular order): 1. Frisco 1522 2. Reading 2102 3. Reading and Northern 425 4. Western Maryland 734 I also heard some people consider Norfolk and Western 1218, but I'm not entirely sure about that.
