If money wasn't dirty, I would suggest to use the bill as a bookmark, so it will always be there as a reminder, and when you finish the book, then it goes to the jar, and if it is a big book, then 5 dollars will be a good prize. I don't have too many books, and most of them are part of series that I don't have the first book. So I don't think I have too many books for the challenge, and I also don't buy too many books. Last time I bought a book was in nov. last year, and feb. this year. So I don't think it would be a challenge for me. But, I find very interesting the number, the quantity of books: 100 books. I was watching the video of CriminOlly, and when he mentions about the tiers (bronze, silver, etc.) I said to myself, I want that. So, I am thinking what to do, in order to do all at once. I think, I will do this, I will focus in my own plans for 2024, that means some series I would like to start, and I want to do a reading challenge. At the same time, I will read all the physical books I have, and I want to start putting more effort in finishing one of those 100 books to read lists I have. Starting on 6th nov, I will read a total of 100 books, before buying any book. (I am more for the challenge of reading 100 books, hopefully in a year, than reading them so I can buy more books). My only exception is, that I really want to buy only one book, and it is a prayer book, (well, I think I can buy other books only if they are religious). Aside from that, I don't intend to buy any new book.

I like your way of thinking with the big books,haha! It does seem they should count for more since they are sometimes the size of 3 regular books. Looking forward to seeing what you’ll be reading from your lists. You had so many good sounding ones!

Yes, I'm joining the challenge in January. Rule: The buy-ban starts in January. I'm allowed to check out books from the library or get gifts. My goal each year is to finish at least 12 books; anything more is a plus. :)

It’s really helped my reading but I do still use my local library for new books too. I’ve been finding even re-reading old favorites enjoyable too.

Good luck Kim! Yeah this would take me about two years to complete lol. I very much like to read what I own but I just can not go two years without buying a new book or a book that I need to fill a space in a series or author I collect. Also new or old Graphic Novels I don’t have 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m hoping it doesn’t take two years for me too,lol! That’s exactly why I caved last time with my buying earlier this year. I know I’ll be tempted by those beautiful books but I really need to reduce my stacks and give my neglected books a little attention.

I would be done with this is challenge in 2 weeks bc I don't buy books anymore 😂 I have hundreds to read at the library but less than 20 on my shelf. I only buy books now that I can't get for free anywhere or that I loved so much I want to see them everyday

I don't want to go on a book buying ban. But I do plan to read more of what has been sitting on my shelves. So far I read a lot of amazing ones so I just have to trust my past self. Having a few restrictions does help me but I don't see myself ever having a zero tbr 😂

I never want to have a zero TBR either. I love seeing all the books I’ve yet to explore but it’s gotten a bit too much😬 in the past couple of years since I often buy more than I get read. I’m hoping to find some amazing neglected books in my stacks too.📚

Every year read what I own is one of my bookish resolutions. I have done better this year than usual but not close to good enough. I have only read reached 100+ one time and that was during lock down. The reward jar is a great idea.

I think the reward jar is going to be the key to helping me stick with my goal. I’ve decided to do $2.00 on a book over 600 pages so I won’t put those longer ones off. Good for you for doing better this year! It’s a tough thing for sure. I’ve never read 100 books in a year and the closest I think I’ve ever come was around 96 and that was in the earlier days of booktube when I read more YA.

I did the dollar a book this year and so far I have $315. It works! I am doing the no buy challenge but it's set up until June. I expect to get 150+ books out of my kindle. So far it's only 14. Good luck!

Yes, definitely support local authors. I feel really hopeful that the money jar will help me stick with my goal. I have horrible willpower when it comes to books but I’m very optimistic with this challenge. Hope you wind up participating too!

I just started a no-buy year on Nov. 1! This isn't only books, it's basically anything non-essential. I'm scared and excited lol. The only books I will be buying are books I need for my irl book club. We only meet every other month, so it'll be at most 6 books in the year. We can do this! It'll be fun! (right? lol)
