I keep seeing the mixed reviews for it and I'm like nah I think that book will work for me 😂
I’m currently reading the empire trilogy and it’s certainly worth my time

I read Magician a long time ago and found it to be a three star read. I wasn't a big epic fantasy reader back then so I'm curious to see if my opinions would change on a re-read.

I have read the first Riftwar trilogy and not worth it IMO : cliché traditional fantasy, the worst named protagonist, and with terrible women representation (one of the female character repeated only line in the trilogy is "yes my husband"). I do plan to read the empire trilogy that was cowritten with janny wurst however : heard amazing things about it, especially about the female protagonist.

Yeah I do get worried about older male fantasy books...bad female representation really annoys me. I feel like I've heard lots of good things about the empire trilogy
