This video on cardiovascular system physiology describes the various waves, intervals and segments in ECG (electrocardiogram). It also describes how to read an ECG
1. Waves of ECG: The amplitude and duration of waves of ECG i.e P, QRS and T waves
2. Segments of ECG: PR segment, ST segment, TP segment, difference between Pr segment and interval, significance of TP segment
PR segment starts from the end of P wave and is to the beginning of QRS complex.
3. Intervals in ECG: PR interval, ST interval, QT interval, RR interval, PP interval
4. How to look for sinus rhythm in ECG?
Look whether each P wave wave is followed by WRS complex or not. If yes, it is sounds rhythm
5. How to calculate heart rate from ECG?
Count the number of small squares of ECG paper between R-R interval peak..
To calculate heart rate divide 1500 by the number of small squares
How to determine duration in ECG paper?

best lecture ever . just a little calculation mistake . at 8:30 when you say PR interval is 0.13 you miss to add the 0.06 so actually it is 0.19 so simply take it as 0.2 for easy calculation .

Oh is it. Thanks. . But along with that also remember PR interval greater than 0.2 s is abnormal

Mam why lead 2 is mainly used to read ecg

  • @PhysiologyOpen

Because its in the direction of depolarization of heart. But generally all leads are seen together, if any abnormality is suspected. Rhythm disorders can be detected by looking at any lead ECG...since they are reflected similarly in all leads so for that lead II may be used..
