Finally somebody actually listening to these people. I always have to preface. Did you know that the lead singer of this band, Josh, partially wrote the song call Me maybe. Look at the writing credits. Yes that call Me maybe.

Josh LOVES his callbacks, even to songs that were on old EPs.

Indeed. Happy a good portion of those early demos have been found & preserved, but there’s still one or two tracks that we’ve never heard.

Here's what we know. This is not a single. It's the album opener. The first single is yet to come. The album is "A Normal Life." This opener references Phantoms, Astoria, Everafter, Masterpiece Theatre, Fix Me, and Ramsay Fiction. The album will be about a Hero's journey. They have been doing memory lane for some time now, as Promo for this Album. So, this album will be a mash of the sounds that came before it. Josh really is throwing everything at this one.

That's incredibly helpful! Makes me even more excited for this album. If we get a more "traditional" type of concept album from MT, I'll ve able to die happy 😅

As much as I'm a fan of Phantoms, I'm so happy if they're going to really rock out again.

Im not sure it directy references, but id say they're mostly going for the vibes of their previous sounds combined. Im imagining this album closer will include direct lyrics or melodies from past albums. I pop so hard any time for that Ever After motif....

Loved your reactions. Wanted to say I totally get where youre coming from with FOB. They used to be my favorite band but after Save Rock and Roll (I didn't like it on first listen but it did grow on me), I hadn't liked any of their stuff much. I do like some of their most recent Stardust stuff (the remake of we didn't start the fire is pretty fire imo), but yeah. I had been thinking for a while that fob and mt were still my favroite bands, but I think mt being more consistent and feeling for true to themselves and their style has pushed them over into my #1 now. I actually loved Phantoms, and Astoria is my least favorite album. It's funny how different everyone is. But yeah, this song is GREAT and I'm SO STOKED for the rest of the album.

There is so much here they can call back to and reference in the album closer. A good Ever After motif callback always gets me and that was the big thing I didn't get in Phantoms. Im just so stoked for this album, predicting right now the theme is the Hero's Journey (alternatively, maybe a Superhero theme?). Please give many callbacks to previous albums like End of An Era did!!!!

Did you listen to Fix Me too? Cause there’s a lot from that album in this song too. The guitars are reminiscent of Say Anything, their first ever single. If you can get into an album about recovery, give it a listen.

I haven't listened to Fix Me enough times through to have felt comfortable talking about it in this video. I've only heard the whole thing one time through, but I'm definitely going to be revisiting it as I prepare for this album!!

@@RueMorgue1841 I get it. It’s a harder album to dive into given it’s not as theatrical & whimsical, but it’s raw & powerful.
