And then out-thought the third one...Zibanejad...before dishing the sauce. THAT play IS exactly why you get a guy like Palat when you can. I know it wasn't for the Cup or anything, but against the Rangers, Game 7, after the years of shame. That play belongs in the pantheon of amazing Devils plays.

@@beammeup1930 Tr oubas hit was LEGAL but its still dirty because he KNOWS what he is doing with these "headhunting" hits because he sees the moment the players are hunched down and uses that to his advantage so he is "allowed" to make contact to the head.. the rule needs to change even as a rangers fan.

Messier changing his tune quite a bit all a sudden. He was counting the devils out the entire time. He may have acted like he wasn't surprised, but every ESPN host picked the Rangers to win game 7 and they got shutout 4-0. Bye Bye Rangers. LGD 😈

Grow up. He was rooting Rangers of course (as was I) but I never heard him count the Devils out. If you have a link showing different, I'll retract that and apologize. I haven't seen it. He knows hockey and I think his analysis was right on. The Devils outplayed the Rangers and they deserved to win. The Rangers are an older, slower team. They needed to play physical to beat a team like NJ and they didn't. The Devils outworked them all over the ice. That's how you win playoff hockey games, not with fancy passes. I thought Schmid played his best game tonight. I don't think he was really tested like this during the series. I thought he was tested early tonight and he made a couple of great saves. In the first period Zebanajad shot a rocket from the wing and he snagged it. He made a bother great one in the third on Trochek. Congrats to the Devils.

@@CharlieTWilbury I don’t have a link but it was either right before or right after game 1 he said “I don’t see how New Jersey beats them. They can’t outskill them, they can’t outphysical them, they can’t outskate them…”. I don’t read too much into it as I know he’s just an analyst doing his job but it did seem like he was counting them out

@@mclovin7079 That would surprise me. He knows hockey; the Rangers can't outskate the Devils. They could out skill and out physical the Devils. They're a bigger team with lots of skill players, but they didn't do either of those things. The Devil out worked them. He's biased for sure but he can't deny what he saw on the ice.

Yeah I love messier but after game 2 when he said the devils just arnt there and the rangers are and will be a short series is when we came out hot

As I mentioned before, NHL playoff needs a good goalie and an enthusiastic team to win. N.J won on Schmid terrific goal tending and the young talents on the team. The may as well end up with the Stanley trophy!

Canes fan here. As much as I hate to say, I think we go out next round. We are down 2 playmakers in svechnikov and teravaienen. Goaltending has been ok. I hope im wrong but devils could potentially run us over.

They remind me of the young 2009 Blackhawks. That Blackhawks team might have won the Cup but they ran into the proven winners, the juggernaut 2009 Red Wings in the WCF and the Wings schooled them. There is no 2009 Red Wings type juggernaut team left in these playoffs. There's no reason they can't make a deep run.
