"You're still my weapon of choosing" I take this to mean that he uses her to harm himself. Its the viciousness thats addicting and he is Aware that their union is self-destructive but despite that she has all the power because he gives it to her. What I like about Sleep Token is that his lyrics are aware that it takes two to tango. Not he nor his love are heroes. Shes likely a vile and toxic heartless woman and hes no better. But the songs show a reflection and growth and become so beautiful in that light.

WOW! Thank you for sharing this reaction BriMarie Ann. Such a beautiful, honest response to a beautiful, brutally honest song. I often can’t listen to this version of the song because it is so emotional and painful. The song that follows on from this is Atlantic, the opening track from the second album This Place Will Become Your Tomb (2021), and I think you’ll love it too. I’m really enjoying your reactions to Sleep Token and can’t wait to see more. W O R S H I P

Stuck in a quantum patern, tangled with what I never said is deeper than you touched on. In physics, 2 particles can be entagled in what is called quantum entanglement. These 2 particles are forever bound and act identically no matter the distance between them. This means that he is forever entangled with everything he never said and can never escape it, it will haunt him eternally. This is a testament to he fact that in any relationship, if something needs to be said, you better get it out or you will likely live to regret it as Vessel does. The part about atoms stopped fusing is in reference to a dying star. When a stars atoms stop fusing into usable fuel, the star dies. Good reaction! I enjoyed it, keep up the work!

I visualized something slightly similar...instead of flowers I would make a scene with him on a huge mound of metal/wires, no nature from foreground to horizen. He is holding the last vestige of life...a single rose with with its last pedal separating and wilting as it falls onto the foreign cold ground....not even in death can it find solace in the familiarity it soo yearns to embrace if even for a fleeting moment. Just where my thoughts took me when listening to Vessels torment.

"i wanna be forgiven, i wanna choke up chunks of my own sins" is such a vulnerable line. coming from a place of wanting to be a good person and be forgiven by your creator for all of the bad things you've done. vessels lyricism is beyond nearly any band i have ever listened to in this regard. every song is a complete self reflection that forces you to look inwards and put all of your insecurities and anxiety in the forefront of your mind.

Fair warning that Sleep Token is gonna make you cry a LOT. I’m not usually affected a lot by music but this band just reaches into your soul and forces those emotions out of you. That said… it’s actually really refreshing to see someone react so strongly, because it’s so real and it’s how this music was meant to make you feel. And it’s good to see other people who are as moved by his work as I am, you know? Also, the album version of this (the one that’s just a visualizer on their channel) is great too, and has its own special heartbreaking moments at the end.

I'm right there with you. Some bands/artists have one maybe 2 songs that will make me tear up if I'm in a bad mood, but sleep token has 2 or 3 songs on each album that make me tear up almost every time. and TMBTE dropped right as I was going through my first real breakup (23 yo at the time, never cared to date in highschool) so that whole album will forever strike a chord with me and will always remind me of her, the wonderful memories we shared and it will always make me think of all the memories we could have made if we would've met at a different time in our lives. And the lines "But I finally think I can say, That the vicious cycle was over, The moment you smiled at me" from Rain especially hit home. Its just crazy how relatable a band of nameless, faceless people can be to so many people. It seems like there's a song or lyric that will apply directly to almost anyone's personal situation in life. And that fact alone is enough to make me love Sleep Token.

  • @miss__anthropy

He’s called Vessel because he is a vessel for Sleep’s message; essentially a middle man between Sleep and the fans. And the songs are tokens of their devotion to Sleep. Hence the name: Sleep Token. ☺️ Technically all the band members are vessels (so like II, the drummer, is technically Vessel II, but we shorten it to II), but since Vessel (aka Vessel I) is the one who created all this, he gets the main title of Vessel.

“Science lesson”. The atoms stopped fusing actually refers to the death of a star. Fusion happens under immense amounts of pressure which is what happens in the center of a star and is it’s source of energy. Once the atoms at the center of a star stop fusing, there is no longer an energy source to fuel the star. A few things can happen. The star might shed it’s outer layers becoming a dimmer, colder star. Or if the star is extremely heavy, the force from the fusion was the only thing keeping the star from collapsing on itself. Either way, he’s using the death of a star as a metaphor. And the second line “stuck in a quantum pattern, tangled with what I never said” is another science reference using quantum entanglement. Basically when 2 or more particles cannot be defined without referring to the other, even if seemingly unrelated. Being bound to something he never said. Gotta love this dudes metaphors.

I think there’s another layer on top of the quantum entanglement where he says, “stuck in a quantum pattern, tangled with what I never said.” Quantum theory also goes on to say that if you have a quantum particle its state can be either a 0 or a 1 or anything in between. We don’t know what it’s state is and if we observe it the wave function of the particle breaks down (I’m combining and oversimplifying a few theories). So she “knows” what he said. He also “knows” what he said/never said and they are opposite. But the actual state of what he said, the truth, doesn’t even matter.

Here's a simple definition of quantum entanglement: Quantum entanglement is a bizarre, counterintuitive phenomenon that explains how two subatomic particles can be intimately linked to each other even if separated by billions of light-years of space. Despite their vast separation, a change induced in one will affect the other.
