"Candyday" used to be a bigger thing in the past I believe, like in the nineties. There's actually a candybag sold to this day with the name "saturday bag" or "lauantaipussi" wich refers to that tradition. I was born in the eighties so I remember this tradition quite well. 😀

It's still a thing here in Sweden. Basically everyone with kids only allow them to eat candy on Saturdays. Hence the healthy teeth in the population.

Well it was a big thing in the early 2000s too... so definitely not just an eighties thing
This sketch is a modern classic

Temperance society Raittiuden Ystävät (est. 1853) gave a recognition to that skit in 2015. The team were taken by surprise since they had only intended it to be funny rather than educational too. They were happy about the award in any case, and acknowledge that it makes the viewer think how children might perceive adults' alcohol use.
Siskonpeti is genious
This is in my top 10 of comedy bits in Finnish tv. They should have done it in Alko though, with wine, whiskey, vodka etc... The girl is actually a daughter of the Mum in real life btw.
Yes, when I was a kid Saturday was the candyday - and saunaday. (Our parents had a rule: first we go to sauna at 7pm and ONLY after that were you allowed to open the candybag. ☺) I should really start doing candyday again as an adult! I would eat so much healthier and my teeth would be better 😅😅

This "Siskonpeti"-comedy show is very, very good. It's quite similar to the British show called "Smack the Pony" (I'm sure you've seen it) but with a Finnish twist.
Siskonpeti, Pirjo and Modernit miehet are fabulous shows, if only one could find those with english subtittles.

Hello ❤😊 let be friends 🧡 I love your comments
Karkkipäivä, usually Saturday, is and was a method to teach the children the value of money. Many children did not really apprehend it, because "karkkipäivä" was the day when they would have candy, so they would spend all their money in candy that very day. However, in my youth and in my family, some of the children have not spend the "karkkiraha" (candy money) or "viikkoraha" (weekly money) but they have saved. So, one day when they have gathered enough money, the would do something else with the money, and if they bought candy, they would eat some of it one Saturday but could also share some of the candy. The tradition of karkkipäivä has changed in time. But it has mainly changed because the value of money has changed. In the 80's the weekly money for candy could be 5 Finnish marks which is less than 1 euro. With 5 marks however, you could have bought easily a good amount of money. If you had saved some of the money or divided it, you could get some extra as well, like some hockey cards (if you were collecting them, I was). Today, less than a euro will not get you anywhere. More than that, the package sizes have shrank as the prices have stayed the same. So you get less and less with the same amount of money, so it has become more and more common, that you will save the money (or the candy).

Indeed we do! Candyday is not exactly something official but a tradition that every parent knows which not only gives you a good excuse to not buy candy when your kid is about to have a candy related tantrum in a shop (you can always say that it is not candyday yet, and sometimes it even works!) but it also gives your kids something nice to look forward to in a time frame their brains can comprehend.
Pretty innovative comedy, yes.

Also one thing they point out in this sketch is that this mom pops her cider immediately in the store. That's a reference to kids who don't have enough patience to wait until they get home. I was one of those kids. 😁

Can you watch the old policeman from the series Konstaapeli Reinikainen move from a small village to a big city. And you get to see how different it is to be a police officer in such a big city. It's old, but very funny.

Pulkkinen is pretty much play on words so i don't know would that work in English.
Do a non-verbal sketch from Kummeli - Like "Selviytyjät" (look for video called Kummeli - Jakso 3 and go to 17:25 for a higher-quality upload; the part directly before it has a very serious introduction to the "classic film" but no subtitles)
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😊
It is good thing having one day in a week when you are allowed to eat candy etc. But if I am being honest it has slipped with me. I think that I am not only one.

It comes from back in the days when people lived in small places. Like my grandad. They lived in a very small flat and in the evenings they would lay the beds on the floor. Parents had a real bed but the kids slept in the same mattresses on the floor. He said that the whole floor was just one big bed. The the summer places (mökki) people still sometimes sleep like that.

ASPECT RATIO!!!!
Yeah, so usually when kids want to buy candy from the store the parents try to control it and then the kids start to act mad. In this video the roles are reversed and the adults behave like children and the children behave like adults.
