Glad to see one of your Patreon's suggested this one. I dropped in your comments a few weeks ago. Ann Wilson was 63 when she killed this version of Kashmir. If you're digging around on YT go find one of the Heart version of Rock and Roll from the late 1970s. She has almost as much range at 63 - now 72 - as she did at 27.

I have lived in the Pacific NW (North Wet 🤣😊) since the early 70s - I'm from Scotland, originally - so I got to see Heart live several times over the years. The smaller venues like The Moore, The Backstage in Ballard and Sky Church stand out for me.

This was phenomenal anyway, but when you consider Ann was in her 60's when she did this, it really cements how awesome she is as a singer. I saw Heart live back in the early 80's. At the time I wasn't a huge fan of Heart. I appreciated a few of their songs, but it wasn't until I saw them live and especially doing their Zeppelin encore covers that I really came to love them. Ann is a force of nature.

There in the 70's there was one Rock group we called the Female version of Led Zeppelin and it was "Heart." And they were great friends with the members of Led Zeppelin too. There exist 4 Rock groups that can cover Led Zeppelin songs: Heart. Great White. Aerosmith. Greta Van Fleet.. These groups always do Led Zeppelin songs "Righteously!!!" Jason Bonham is making his Dad proud. He had got to be one of the best drummers right now.

Saw Heart and Zeppelin several times in the seventies. Everyone then always considered Heart a female “led” take on Zeppelin. The musicians in Heart then, had the skill to write and perform so close to the signature Zeppelin style, it was if they were channeling them. 🤘😎

They were called "Led Zeppelin with t i t s" to be exact. Over time it got sanatized to either "female led zeppelin" or "little led zep" but in the 70s the moniker was much more specific. They also got called "c*ck rock without the c*ck" a lot as well.

And marvel that they seemed to defy time that night snd laugh in its face. I found it thrilling and it gave me chills. So I have a very different perspective. But actually, in 2007 they were still “youngsters”: Jimmy was 63 and Robert a wee sprat of 59. I won’t try to convince you though. Some people just want old rockers to disappear so the don’t commit the sin of aging. I’m truly happy for Robert that he can still be so passionate and fulfilled at this time in his life. @@robertwheatley2471 helene here. I get it, I think, Robert I really do. You love Zeppelin. Robert is an integral part of that. He tried his damndest to separate himself from that image for several years in the early 80’s and then semi-re-embraced it in the 90’s…..figuring “why not”, it was his heritage. You are correct…he was aged horribly by Karacs death. The difference in his demeanor between 1977-79 is noticeable. To me, he still looked great in 1995….but then in ten years he aged 20. And now he does look older than he is. He’s led a full life in every sense of the word. Yes, he will keep his long hair. I know many “sad, old hippies” who have done so. Part of their self-identity..as it is for Plant..and not just a stage prop. But actually, you see….Robert has actually done it the “right way”, in my opinion. He isn’t out there like David Coverdale, or Phil Collins, or The Stones, or Gene Simmons of Kiss, still trying to pretend that the years haven’t betrayed them. He embraces it. He doesn’t have to like it, but he accepts it…and sings now according to his current place in life’s journey. His way carries dignity with it. I think to enjoy the way Robert sings these songs you, you have to separate Robert the man, from Robert the frontman of Zeppelin. I was motivated to do so because I got into his solo career heavily over the past few years during the pandemic. So I see him as a separate entity. There is absolutely no reason for you to do that. He will forever be that vital, charismatic young guy at the sharp end of Zeppelin. And how he sang those songs then is a part of your growing up and your history. I get that. Perhaps it’s not that he is still performing …doing bluegrass, folk and country, that you dislike so much, but that he has changed up some Zeppelin songs? His last two solo albums are original material and really quite lovely, although with a definite melancholy vibe. Anyway, Robert, I’ve enjoyed our exchange. I’m assuming you are in your 40’s or 50’s. I hope that life has been good to you, and will continue to be so, and that you are as fulfilled and engaged with life at 74 as your namesake is. 🙂
