By the way ... this is not the version you can see in german television every year. The "German" version is slightly different, about 18 minutes long and starts with a narrator (Heinz Piper) who gives a short explanation of the plot. On March 8, 1963, "Dinner for One" was broadcast on television for the first time on "Guten Abend, Peter Frankenfeld". The sketch has been broadcast every New Year's Eve in Germany since 1972. Most of the broadcasts took place in 2003. "Dinner for One" was broadcast a total of 19 times on the last day of this year. It is the program with the most repeats in Germany making it 1988 into the Guinness Book of Records.

And a few more differences. One striking part is, that it is a little bit slower. This version feels a little but rushed.

@@vHindenburg Yes, but you cannot found the "german" version on KZread. It's obviously the "swiss" version of the sketch.

The original line of the Admiral was indeed "Prost"; Freddie Frinton hated Germany and refused to speak German so he changed it.

Maybe you need a little background information. The play was a flop in England at the time. What everyone has probably understood, it is about the 90th birthday of the lady, which is repeated annually. In Germany, it was so well received as a broadcaster once on New Year's Eve, i.e. one day before New Year's Day, and so well received that it has become a tradition, as with the play. The actor, who replaces the birthday guests who have died over time, has become a tradition here in Germany at the turn of the year. In the meantime, it has even become a cult in England. Just like a series called One Heart and One Soul. This is repeated, for example, on special holidays. New Year's Eve, the punch episode is cult. On the Day of German Unity, the visit from the GDR is part of the program. Unfortunately, this series is only available in German, it is from the 1970s and it was all exaggerated, but based on the way of thinking of the time. It is also worth seeing and when it was broadcast the first time it was a street sweeper. kzread.info/dash/bejne/jGdkl5iSipnAqLA.html

"Ein Herz und eine Seele" is definitely a german cult series too. The father of the family "Alfred Tetzlaff" called "Ekel Alfred" (Disgusting Alfred or Stinker Alfred) is probably the first person on german television who uses regularly the word "Arschloch" (Asshole). My grandfather had exactly the same white kitchen cupboard as the Tetzlaff family. We didn't have a telephone either. So we also had to walk to the nearest phonecell if we wanted to make a call. All the actors have since died. Rest in Peace family Tetzlaff.

Hi , I have recently researched about your KZread channel and I found your KZread thumbnails good but they're not eye catchy so that people can click on your video. As a graphic designer, I can make your thumbnail more eye-catchy and dickable. So may I redesign the thumbnail for you? Let me know.
