REACTION to Devil Wouldn't Recognize You from MADONNA
Фильм және анимация
I'm so amazed with this song as a narcissistic abuse survivor. The lyrics are relatable and empowering for me. I understand all the details of the song, referring to falling for his disguise and coming back again and again even though it hurts every time. Also, her referring to him as intoxicating her mind. Narcissists whether aware of it or not, brainwash you essentially to the point where you can't think straight and you can't distinguish what's real and what's not. And you certainly can't heal if they're around. You need to become sober from this person and break the cycle of addiction and break the cycle of abuse.
What I find so moving is her saying "Even the devil wouldn't recognize you, I do, I do, I do." This narcissist is so bad and puts on the perfect show to fool even the devil himself, but he doesn't fool her anymore. She's been in this moment one too many times to fall for it again. She's been on that ledge too many times and she's had to pick herself up off the ground too many times.
She finally sees through the illusion and she's standing tall on her own and she knows the truth. She's empowered and nothing this person can say or do can change her mind.

This live version helped me get through a very painful period in my life stuck in an abusive relationship. I would listen to this on literal repeat. Very powerful.
Madonna hasn't said this word for word. But I think she wrote this song about Guy Ritchie, her ex-husband with whom she was married for 8 years. She tried really hard to please him, she got out of the US to live with him in England, she agreed to not sign a pre-nup. And in the end he took away half her money, which was something like 400 millions dollars or so..Awful..She must have felt used and bought out
I can relate to every word you say girl. Those kind of people mess with your head, they put you in an altered state of mind, where you can't be rational, where you can't think, and they make you put up with so much shit thinking you have to. It's incredible how many sacrifices we do for them, and how much we give to them. All the things we do for them. We become like dogs. And we do it gladly! And of course they have a whole group of people enchanted, so if you say sonething no one will believe you. But once you're out, and once you go back to a lucid state of mind, then it's so easy to see behind the trick. And that powerful God that he once was to you is now revealed to your eyes as the pathetic creature he really is. And also, once you've gone through a narcissist, you can now recognize them easily when you meet another one.
This is wonderful ! NO ONE like Madonna and you look fabulous👍😘💙🌸zane
You should react to Madonna’s song “Sorry” it is the sequel to Hung Up.
Narcissists can be very charming and seductive...they know how to draw people in. As you say, once you see through their charms and manipulation you are ready to move on! Glad you liked the song! Enjoyed your commentary and insights into the symbolism of the performance.
Is a beautiful song all the way
Amazing insights thank you

Thank you!
Good day. Thank you for Madonna. You immediately reminded me of Black Dahlia and her terrible story. All the best. And even more Madonna :) Greetings from distant Poland.
I love your analysis of the lyrics
I tend to always attract narcissistic people and I believe it is due to me being an empath. They want to drain us & we want to help those who need some comfort, self esteem issues, etc.
i became really narcistic after being abused by one cluster b 'friend' during my youth. i always related her to this song

Thank you for sharing this and I'm sorry you experienced that from this person. Sometimes going through abuse we adopt some of their behaviors as a response

the only people who truly dislikes Narcissists are Narcissists because you're illusion of self importance and ego gets in the way of being worthwhile as a decent human being.

I don't have hatred towards narcissists and I'm not a narcissist. I was however abused by two men with NPD and one of them had antisocial personality disorder as well. I want to get my story out there in hopes that it will help people. It took me 8 years to fully escape being abused by these men in my life and I don't want others going through that as well.

Unfair. Men have the worse problems dealing with narcissistic personalities. Shame on you. I've suffered the same and I'm a 49 year old GAY man. Narcissism inuniversal.

I never said women have it worse. I would never say that. Anyone, male, female, gay, straight, etc can be affected by someone with narcissistic personality disorder. I'm a female and the song is being sung by a female so maybe it came across that way but that was not my attention or thought process in the slightest

That’s wrong because it depends on the situation not about gender. I mean your narcissism is truly showing here because you are making her story about you…
