Wytwórnia fonograficzna w owych czasach zainwestowała w Denisa Roussosa młodszego od Niemena o 7 lat. Ale to nie o lata chodziło, tylko o wątpliwość wytwórni, czy na takim Niemenie zarobią pieniądze. Zresztą może i sam Niemen bardzo o to nie zabiegał bo był jednak twórcą absolutnie niezależnym, tworzącym swoje kanony, nie poddającym się wszelkim ograniczeniom. pamiętam to, bo to czasy mojej wczesnej młodości.

To nieprawda, nie chcial być gwiazdą swiatową. Niemen had a chance to stay in the USA but he did not want to. He loved Europe and was a great patriot. His voice changed over time. Yes he was the greatest Polish singer and composer of ALL TIME ! There are lots of his songs available on KZread. Check his young voice in "Być może i ty" and mature in "Terra deflorata".

I’m huge fan of Niemen. I was lucky to meet him in person in nineties in PKiN in Warsaw at exhibition, such a nice guy spoke openly with teenager, respectful and humble. Missing him dearly

Potwiwrdzam. A ja miałem to szczęście poznać go osobiście, już w 1967 roku, ja jeszcze w liceum, Czesio już wielka postać. I potwoerdzam Ci, że prywatnie to był bardzo ciepły, życzliwy i skromny człowiek. Potrafił słuchać ludzi, nie wywyższał się. Pomimo że byłem jeszcze uczniakiem. Natomiast dla muzyków bardzo wymagający, choć nie apodyktyczny. Brało się to stąd, że był tytanem pracowitości, nota bene nigdy nie pił ani nie palił, żadnych używek. Choć władza PRL próbowała zmontować kroniki robiące z niego pijaka. Wielokrotnie bywałem w jego minimieszkanku na Niecałej, gdzie urządził sobie genialne jak na tamte czasy studio nagrań z nieznaną jeszcze elektroniką. Wg mnie najgenialniejsze jego utwory to Cztery ściany świata, z genialnym 20-letnim Piotrem Dziemskim na bębnach (jego absurdalna śmierć rok później wstrząsnęła Niemenem i zawaliła wspaniałe projekty, jakie wspólnie już przygotowali). Poza tym piękna poruszająca kompozycja Com uczynił z "maluchami" z SBB i mało w Polsce znane wspaniałe swiatowej klasy nagranie z Nahavishnu Orchestra i Michałem Urbaniakiem, Inside I'm Dying. Angielski tekst tej ostatniej jest też Niemena, gdyż wbrew obiegowej opinii bardzo dobrze radził sobie z angielskim. Jeśli nie znasz, radzę posłuchać.

@@krysstefan2505 z niesamowitym studiem nagrań z elektroniką wówczas jeszcze nieznaną. Też byłem, około 1970 r. Zresztą Czesiu robił też grafikę komputerową, wówczas nowość, kilka projektów okładek płyt jest jego dziełem, choćby Sukces.

And the song is not simply "anti-war" or "anti-communist" but against the fact that people in this strange world too often despise other people, are carried away by hatred, spread evil. It is important to start by destroying hatred within ourselves. But there is hope and the singer's strong faith that "there are more people of good will" (than people of bad will). This sentence, by the way, is often quoted in Polish popular culture and everyone knows what it is about.

Czesław Niemen was especially important to my Dad. He worshiped him and his singing. When Niemen died in 2004, my Dad was devastated, he went to his car, and just drove without any specific target, listening to Czesław Niemen music all day long...

Yes Sanskrit and the Old Polish is very very Similar. When I visited Poland as a child you could hear Hare Krishna chants everywhere. Especially at the seaside. Last time I visited devotees still chant Hare Krishna at the beach ♥️ So beautiful

Miałem to olbrzymie szczęście, że byłem (jeśli dobrze liczę), na 8-9 koncertach Czesław Niemena w Bielsku-Białej x 2, dwa razy w Warszawie, raz w Katowicach i 3 czy cztery razy na koncertach Niemena na Sopot - Wyścigi w roku 1970... Był w owych czasach naszym prawdziwym idolem, a jednocześnie Człowiekiem wielkiego serca i wielkiego ducha. Dlatego był znienawidzony przez komunę, to dlatego chciano go skompromitować w czasach stanu wojennego gdy puszczono niby na żywo jego koncert w TV.. Gdyby nie sowiecki bolszewizm byłby gwiazdą światowego formatu. Cześć jego Pamięci... stanisław sass sadlik...

Poland has a long, wonderful but also tragic history. I would like to highly recommend the song "Dni, których nie znamy" by Marek Grechuta. I think every Pole knows this song. You must listen about the Battle of Vienna, also called the Relief of Vienna, in which King Jan III Sobieski defeated the Turks, and the Battle of Warsaw in 1920, in which the Poles defeated the Bolsheviks. These are some of the most important battles in European history. The Battle of Grunwald was also a very important battle, in which our ancestors defeated the Teutonic Order. I really enjoy watching you, I hope you will visit Poland someday and you will see the beauty of this country in real life.

With "Autobiografia" you would have to explain the "times" it mentions. A lot of that song bases on knowledge of the era: the habits, the economy, the customs, etc. You would really need a good translation with that additional info.

To był człowiek o niezwykłym talencie. Gdy został przesiedlony (z terenu dzisiejszej Białorusi) do Polski, lepiej władał językiem rosyjskim niż polskim. Jego talent doceniało wielu ówczesnych artystów z całego świata, o czym może świadczyć propozycja zajęcia miejsca wokalisty w zespole "Blood, Sweat and Taers" z której nie skorzystał.

Dziwny jest ten świat (Strange is this world) - a song by Czesław Niemen from 1967, inspired by the hits When a Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sledge and It's a Man's Man's Man's World by James Brown from 1966. It comes from the LP Dziwny jest ten świat. It has a characteristic organ introduction, composed and played by Marian Zimiński. Niemen won an award for this song at the 5th Song Festival in Opole in June 1967. It is sometimes referred to as the first Polish protest song, although in fact it was inspired by interpersonal relations.

This song literally makes me cry. The messege is so simple yet so true. Bcause from logical point of view hurting others doesn't make sense, yet still some people do it. It perfectly conveys the hopelesness of that kind of situation but also hope that lies within people of good will.

My mum used to put this record on and sing along when she was a teenager in Poland and now…. Well I’m definitely not a teenager anymore but I absolutely love this song and it’s still so relevant to this day.

@@gucci3541 , yes hundreds of 1000 Poles live outside of Poland, east of our borders. That was Poland before WW 2. Czesław Niemen born Czesław Wydrzycki was pure Polish but Soviet citizen, repatriant to Poland.

He was a brilliant, great artist, very underestimated and often misunderstood.

To be honest I only heard this song for the first time this year back in June, I am not Polish, Another Polish singer I totally love was singing it- Michał Szpak. I had to go check out the original. This song seems to be the song everyone goes for in all those talent show and we can tell if they are going to be great just by the first note. This song is so powerful.

He performed this song for the first time at Opole festival in 1979. It was shock to everybody because during rehearsals he only was murmuring. So, nobody heard the song before, and considering how revolutionary the performance was, it left everybody in shock.💯💯💯

Nope ! On June 25, 1967, Niemen performed the song "Dziwny jest ten swiat" with Akwarele at the festival in Opole.

He sang in 4 languages, Polish, English, Italian and Russian. He also made an album with British group Mahavishnu Orchestra, check it out. He was HUGE in progrock in the 70's.

@@gucci3541 - Niemen often said that he was born in Poland, then lived in USSR. He was not a refugee. After WWII part of Polish lands was absorbed to Belarussian Soviet Republic. Most Poles resettled to Poland, many of them into regions taken from Germany. Wars are a mess. Czeslaw Wydrzycki Niemen went to Gdansk where he often performed in student clubs. Niemen had intensely blue eyes - I remember that from one of his early performances, after which I got his personalized autograph.

Dlaczeego? jest Polakiem tak samo? Polska posiada 5% tej populacji najwieksza koncentracja w Europie na drugim miejscu jest Irladia 3% populacji. Great that You chose this song. This is one of such songs that will just never get old and is unforgettable. Although the song is of the year 1967, so the time when my parents were in their early teens, I think that it is still now, after so many years, great. Most of the people get goosebumps while listening to his incredible voice. And together with the lyrics it makes always, even if You listen to it again, such a deep impression on the listeners. Great that You also appreciate this song. Just imagine what a star Niemen could be, with his voice and talent, if only he was born on the other side of the Iron Curtain, and not in the communism times.

I grew up during Niemen's time. I have been to His concert, it took a lot of time for my mam's generation to appreciate his music. I am 70 years old and still listening to His LPs and CDs. I Visited His grave in Warszawa. I was lucky to witness such an artist.

Niemen was appreciated in his time in the West. Marlene Dietrich was a fan of him. He got an offer to become the singer of "Blood , sweat and tears" but Niemen was not an easy person to get around and we know that pride is not a good advisor and it is better to hide it at the beginning in order to be able to show your worth to the public and the world.

Yeh. He was good, had a unusual voice. I never did like his songs very much but I have to say he was very good. Poland does get golden nuggets from time to time.

This song has been composed by Niemen (who was also a very good composer, text writer and great jazzman of that time) in 1967, the same moment in time, when Louis Armstrong has recorded his "Wonderful World" and that was also the protest song in the time of cold war and Vietnam war. This song is very important for people in Poland and we listen it often, when the world goes wrong...

It's timeless song, I remember when Niemen died, I was at scholl and we had special lesson about him ❤

In various contests in Poland if a singer can sing this song, that's thought to be the ultimate proof of their talent.

​@@dzonramboDokładniej jest chyba powiedzieć, że Llouis napisał swoją piosenkę, a Jacek Kaczmarski napisał swoją wersję na podstawie jego utworu. Trochę jak z tłumaczeniem psalmów przez Czesława Miłosza

Do you know that In 1964 at Congress Hall, Warsaw, Niemen, together with his group, played as a support act to Marlene Dietrich during her concert. She heard his song "Czy mnie jeszcze pamiętasz" ("Do you still remember me?") there. She enjoyed it so much that she soon wrote her own lyrics for the song and recorded "Mutter, Hast du Mir Vergeben" ("Mother, have you forgiven me?") (Wiki). She wanted that after her death, all medley of her songs be ended with this particular one.

Miałem to szczęście poznać go osobiście, już w 1967 roku, ja jeszcze w liceum, Czesio już wielka postać. I powiem Ci, że prywatnie to był bardzo ciepły, życzliwy i skromny człowiek. Potrafił słuchać ludzi, nie wywyższał się. Natomiast dla muzyków bardzo wymagający, choć nie apodyktyczny. Brało się to stąd, że był tytanem pracowitości, nota bene nigdy nie pił ani nie palił, żadnych używek. Choć władza PRL próbowała zmontować kroniki robiące z niego pijaka. Wielokrotnie bywałem w jego minimieszkanku na Niecałej, gdzie urządził sobie genialne jak na tamte czasy studio nagrań z nieznaną jeszcze elektroniką. Wg mnie nsjgenialniejsze jego utwory to Cztery ściany świata, z genialnym 20-letnim Piotrem Dziemskim na bębnach (jego absurdalna śmierć rok później wstrząsnęła Niemenem i zawaliła wspaniałe projekty. Poza tym piękna poruszająca kompozycja Com uczynił z "maluchami" z SBB i mało w Polsce znane wspaniałe swiatowej klasy nagranie z Nahavishnu Orchestra i Michałem Urbaniakiem, Inside I'm Dying. Angielski tekst tej ostatniej jest też Niemena, gdyż wbrew obiegowej opinii bardzo dobrze radził sobie z angielskim. Jeśli nie znasz, radzę posłuchać.

I was raised with Czeslaw Nimen music since I can rember because my uncle was a fan of his. This song particularly makes my heart burn in flames and eyes run with tears! This song makes my soul leave my body and just go with his voice. I can never sit calmly while this song is on, it has a very deep meaning and you can feel that in his voice! Love Czeslaw!
