I agree that you should wait a while before watching any guide. Give Ijime, Dame, Zettai from the 2014 Sonisphere festival a try.

You really remind me of when I first got into them. They deliver so much energy and I'd get so pumped by the performance. You're going to need to react to a few more stand alone songs, but at some point plan to watch a whole concert from start to finish. There's a whole other level of hype when you see how hard they push for an entire show. The energy builds from song to song and they never stop delivering 100%. By the end you're completely exhausted for them.

The first time I heard this song was when I watched this whole concert. I'd just found BabyMetal and had watched a few stand alones and then ran across this concert and Ate It Up. And in the context of the concert as a whole, this song is even more epic and your respect for the girls (and the Kami Band) shoots through the roof because you've seen how hard they perform and for how long and they *still* knock this song clean out of the park, even though you know they've got to be sooo tired. It's just amazing.

This first concert is Legend 1997 and was performed in late 2013 - the day after Su's 16th birthday. You will see "Happy Birthday" written on the bassist head as Su climbs the stairs at the end. You also get to see Moa and Yui encouraging the crowd while Su stands imperiously and the Kami Band thrashes away. Headbanger is a bittersweet coming of age story about a 15 year old school girl going to a concert and braving the mosh pit, while knowing the freedom of the moment won't last long and vowing to remember the night and the feelings. It's used to celebrate BM birthdays and both Yui and Moa have taken the lead in it for their birthdays. In this concert it celebrates Su's birthday and along with the following songs of "Unfinished Akatsuki" and "Babymetal DEATH" tells the story of how Su is chosen by the Fox God and transformed into a metal goddess. She sings "Unfinished Akatsuki" from where she finishes "Headbanger" and that would be a good song to listen to next. ROR was the song that sold me on BM. I was initially interested by Megitsune back in 2014 and then saw ROR at Saitama in 2015 and became a fan because I ended the song an emotional wreck. They take you from one pinnacle to another and just keep on going and yes it makes a great concert ending. But for me the real hero is the drummer, Hideki Aoyama, I think this song averages over 200 BPM...OMFoxG. ROR has a strong Dragonforce vibe because Li and Totman worked on it and play it on the album, but I like this live Kami Band version more. The concert has a great stage set up and the famous Yui leap over Moa during IDZ as well as this definitive performance. "Road of Resistance" is about fighting and resisting even if you can't see the way ahead; that's a common theme for Babymetal songs. At the end of the crowd "wows" I love the combination of the insanely fast guitar riff and the dance sequence that ends with the girls standing strongly and outlined by the lights, that's where I really get the chills. It shows how well the Babymetal team works to bring together music, singing, dancing and stage and lighting design. Su turned 16 the day before that first show, 'Legend 1997' (December 21st, 2013). She turned 17 about three weeks before the second one at Saitama Super Arena (January 10th, 2015). I think they are unmatched at hyping up and controlling a crowd, and those two performances are great examples. Looks like you've been checking out BAND-MAID as well. I'm also a big fan. Excellent reactions, thank you I really enjoyed watching you enjoying the performances. You are absolutely right about Yui and Moa leading the crowd so they know when to chant, when to jump - and everybody follows them. Also Su is well known for her 'death stare'. The microphone stand Su uses in 'Headbanger' is very likely an intentional tribute to Freddie Mercury, the gong at the end pays tribute to X Japan's drummer Yoshiki who would often end their concerts in a state of collapse by banging a gong. BABYMETAL do pay homage to their heroes and the great bands who have gone before. How many hours do they practice? Only the Fox God knows, but it must be so many to be as accurate as they are with the choreography, the singing and being able to keep going for the whole of every show without anything less than 100% effort and energy. 'Road of Resistance' - yes it really is an anthem. This was at the Saitama Super Arena in January 2015, Su-metal was just 17, Yuimetal and Moametal still only 15 and that was a sell out crowd of over 20,000 people completely under their control and every one of them singing along. This song is about forging your own road, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't been an easy route to follow. 'BABYMETAL Death' at Legend 1997 is probably the only song where the guides contain a spoiler, but yes watch a few more songs first.

I also love the small detail that when Su holds up her microphone, she turns it around, so the part you sing into (haha I have no idea what it's called) is turned out towards the crowd when they're yelling "HEDOBANG! HEDOBANG!!" 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻

As you might have noticed in Headbanger, they have a backing track with 'harsh/growling/low vocals' this is to accentuate/contrast their cute/adorable/high vocals. Babymetal incorporates different cultures/meanings and opposites. For example the use of the gong was actually taken from an other Japanese band: X-Japan, who perform really long concerts and they end with a gong as well. The short microphone stand is only used for this song. While I've never seen anyone explain it, it has to be a reference to Freddie Mercury from Queen. Babymetal has actually performed with the drummer/pianist/song-writer of X-Japan and some of the current members of Queen. It's hard to react to it because it would be blocked instantly. Maybe some overlay or something would help. It's something for much much later to worry about, first Babymetal songs... Babymetal shows don't last 3 hours, the girls wouldn't be able to last that long but the crowd is tired before the girls are ! Because when you are at a Babymetal show, you will want to participate and be exhausted at the end. A Babymetal show is more like 1 or 1,5 hours. As a vocal coach on KZread ones said: they are vocal athletes. From what we know: they train by performing full sets. And do 2 weeks of extra cardio before going on tour. Surprisingly they like to have shows with very few days in between, like 3 or 4 per week on tour. For them it seems to be similar to a team sport member that trained for a season they are in peak condition and slowing actually takes their energy down. But can you imagine how much energy they get from the crowd ? I think this is part of how they make it look almost effortless. The Road Of Resistance performances makes it looks like they've been performing it for years, but this song had actually only been performed 2 times before this show. Which shows us how much training they most have done.

He passed away four years ago due the injuries caused by an accident while he was stargazing. And believe me, no one can play the guitar like he did. He will be always missed. Yes, the girls are extremely fit, probably elite athletes level. And they are also indefatigable and huge professionals to the point that some Kami Band members (which are world class musicians) have said that they need to do their very best all the time just to match the girl's commitment and energy and not to seem lazy. Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。( FYI, Kami Band in the girls' back and Band-Maid, your another new favorite, have been good friends for years. ) These two songs are so popular that BM performed them in all shows of 2019 US tour, 2020 EU/UK/Russia tour and 2021 Budokan 10 concerts (total 47 times, phew!). Talking about Headbanger, you heard the crowd shout some words at 06:14. The words are "ki-e-ro 消えろ!" meaning "get out of here!". This shout in Japanese comes out wherever they go on this planet and whenever Su-Metal turns her mic towards audiences. For example, 17,500 American audiences did the same thing at the Forum, LA on Oct. 11, 2019. In RoR, Su shouted some words at 18:32 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then. Now in 2021, on the final day (April 15) of 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concerts, Su shouted the same words in the end-all of the show. She did it smilingly with mild and friendly voice. Welcome to more Babymetal, and you are right they are warriors going into battle bringing a new genre of Metal, Kawaii-metal to the masses, fighting against the haters and purists. It's great to see you're enjoying (and appreciating) Babymetal (and the Kami Band), it's great to see a girl group winning people's (men's) heart without the need of sexy outfit and/or dance routine. They (the girls and the Kami band) always bring it when they perform, pure passion and love for who they are and what they do, and, yeah, great crowd interaction - I always teared up watching/listening to Road of Resistance (the song really captures their progression/plight in the metal scene, not everyone was on board and they did receive some criticism - though a lot of metal band loves/supports them - and it is something everyone can relate to). I think your right about using sexy to sell . If they come on stage like most pop singers , female metal singers i would of being put off . Its always being about there talent 1st . There costumes have always being more and more beautiful as they got older and Kawaii at the start . 🤘🦊🤘

If you are a metal group and you don't have haters you are doing it wrong. That is one of the reasons everyone sticks up for them. Everyone had to deal with it. On the other hand musicians get way more praise, love and respect than anyone else. So I think they can deal with it. It's good for them.

Hi:) Before seeing the guide, the only song that would have a "spoiler" would be Death Legend 1997. It was mostly used as an Intro at BABYMETAL concerts, but that time it was a special occasion where it took place as a final act. I also think you should check out some songs from their latest album like BxMxC, PA PA YA !, DA DA DANCE (Obviously all live) I hope I have been useful for you to discover more about this amazing band:)

I'll second the recommendation for Babymetal Death live at Legend 1997, though I would also suggest watching Akatsuki (Unfinished ver.) before that since they were played back-to-back at that show (right after Headbanger). At the beginning of Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!, the keyboards are a pipe organ and an harpsichord. The pipe organ is the grumbly, long tones and the harpsichord is the plinking top notes. During Road of Resistance, I enjoy watching reactors that are impressed with the crowd's response to the Whoa-oh-oh-ohs as the girls are walking across the bridge because I know what's coming. Your reaction was PERFECT. Not everyone understands that what happens when the crowd takes over the song is something incredibly special. You get it. The first time I saw it, I had a tear in my eye.

I really think the vocalist are cyborgs from the future. They don’t sweat. Never tire. They should be loved and feared!😄

You asked about the guide. To quote Tom Hanks is in the movie Forest Gump, “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get.” Any version of the guide is great and full of music clips you’ll want to react to. However, I agree with others that it’s too soon for you. Don’t open your present before your big celebration. Do a few more reactions and then get an even bigger appreciation for the group with a guide. Just an opinion.

Road of Resistance was cowritten with the Guitarists from Dragonforce, who are famous for playing very fast. For some incredible crowd participation performances I would recomend, Blind Guardian bards song/Valhalla at Wacken, Sabaton En livstid i krig live at Gothenburg (remember subtitles as it is in swedish) or Iron maiden - Fear of the dark live at rock in Rio. All of them will give you goosebumps.

Thanks very much for your reactions! The awe and wonderment are very much like mine when I started listening to them for real (just April of last year), unfortunately too late to watch them live. Nevertheless you have discovered they each have a super power and irresistible and endearing charm which you will fall in love with. Also may I venture to say that when they say "We are BABYMETAL!!" they really mean collectively them, the band, the fans, lighting and sound guys, roadies etc 😆Aren't they adorable! You commented about the physical conditioning of these tiny energetic Japanese ladies.. well, another reactor, a voice coach (Classical, Broadway type) once remarked upon seeing them Babymetal girls jump, dance and sing in one whole song that for them to do this for 60-90 minutes mean that "they are Olympic level vocal athletes". Haters like to knock them to be not metal because they are so cute with sweet voices but not a single heavy metal act in history will have approached this level of commitment to delivering a spectacle every time they perform. Like you said, they must be training for hours 24/7 like professional athletes do in order to deliver these kinds of high-energy shows all the time.

Road of Resistance 1997 is one of the best live performances of all time. No exceptions.

That comment about training to be this kind of performer was interesting and doesn't get talked about enough. Having musical talent is not enough to do what Babymetal does. Being a music PRODIGY is not enough to do this. These girls have the stamina to run at least a half marathon. It takes physical training to get to that point. It takes hours and hours of training to be able to bounce around stage while still being able to control your voice. There have been several performances where the physical demands of the show have pushed them beyond their limits. They've fallen off the stage, collapsed from heat exhaustion. There was one concert where Hideki (the drummer) had to be helped offstage because he was too exhausted to walk by himself. It's probably a big part of why their sets are often shorter than most other bands (usually no more than an hour or so).

Nice reaction. After seeing Babymetal live I always think of a line from a Van Halen song. "Now Everybody Wanna Go" from Top Jimi. How can you not want to go see them live after watching those videos? I know I do. The half mic stand is also a little like a scepter. As Su holds her symbol of power up. Yui and Moa get the crowd going. In Road of Resistance that end section was actually even longer. There were two red bridges on each side of the stage as well. Babymetal went from bridge to bridge doing the "We Are Babymetal" thing. Babymetal say We Are because they think of the audience as part of Babymetal. That crowd interaction is a big part of the show. I think they enjoy the crowd as well. Sometimes you can see Su actively looking over the crowds during concerts. Moa of seems to be able to find every camera in the crowd. There are so many amazing pictures of Moa looking directly into the camera during shows. With all she does during a show and all the lights going on I don't know how she finds the cameras. Moa's secret skill, I guess. Good times ahead going down the fox hole. Cheers and Hi !, Well, I have recently discovered BM and..Wow.And Im an grumpy old git. (50+) I start with the audience, so liberating to see the abcence of mobilephones in the air..Nowdays peeps are more intrested in showing their xperience in social media than to actually participate and enyoj the concert..The skill of the band..wow..Im a drummer in a rock/metal band myself and this was flawless. I could write a lot more and break it down more, but I wont. One of my favorite parts is when Su Metal(Leadsinger) "corrects" the crowd singing in to the right tempo(Road of R)..And the girls are around 16? ..Awesome performance on all levels. (Btw . In Road..When Su do the "Handsthing" in the beginning=Shes "commanding" the crowd to do a "wall of death/Moshpit. 1st time ive seen anybody done this without saying anything..) There is a "Beginner's Guide to BabyMetal" that contains very little spoilers. If you want, you could do that, do some more songs, and then react to a complete guide! I hope the pauses you did for Road of Resistance are enough, since that performance gets blocked A LOT! If it does, you can try putting a transparent logo on top, or play a bit with the video opacity, and the upload it again! It has worked for other reactors... Next songs: you could try and do the first 2 MV they ever released, to get on Idea how everything started! They are "Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine"!

That way you hear, precisely what it was written to sound like. A song like RoR of course is best in the video she saw, but what I mean is if one checks the album version (let's just say RoR) firstly, without hearing it live, you won't be disappointed, and most likely think: "awesome song! I wonder how good it sounds live" and then be blown away. I know The One is good with providing links to lives but sometimes you get compilations or maybe the drums arent mixed high enough bc it's not an official video. That may turn someone off a song if that's the first impression. But enough babbling. Sorry haha 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻

At 12:54 to 12:57 the choreography was also used in a Karen Girl's song. Karen Girl's was Su-'s first Idol group, also a trio. Same choreographer, Mikiko. The song is Over the Future. Yui and Moa used that song for their official dance audition for entrance to Sakura Gakuin, the Idol group that Babymetal came from. Babymetal also performed the song during a concert. There's more backstory, but too long for now.

Just went back to this one again. Prima set of reactions! 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻 but it made Me want to recommend one of their softer and sadder songs "Akatsuki" the unfinished version. J'ai adoré Baby Metal depuis qu'elles étaient petites filles après leur première union. Mon fils a épousé une Japonaise. Et elle avait déjà deux très bons fils. Ils sont un excellent ajout à la famille. Avez-vous remarqué que les guitares du Kami Band sont à la fois à sept cordes et que la guitare basse monstrueuse utilisée est jusqu'à 9 cordes et souvent jusqu'à 6 cordes. Mais ce sont des guitares basses massives !!!
