I noticed that you kept busy after your last reaction to Nightwish: Epica, Babymetal, Bloodywood, Sabaton, Jijjer, Ayreon .. :) I watched some of them. I like your analysis, because you come to valid conclusions with little data. I think that what you show in terms of music can be called analytical talent. I call it talent because it contains a significant dose of intuition. You may not have seen even 10% of what Troy can do, and yet you qualified him correctly. And what you said about Tuomas, I heard in a documentary from Pip Williams. I look forward to your next analysis. Speaking of Kai today, maybe .. Wintersun? .. :)

As a fellow American, I’m loving this. Growing up listening to whatever was on the radio sculpted me to not even venture down the path of a symphonic band from Finland. That was until I saw a reaction by KingKTF. From that moment on, Nightwish has changed my perception of music forever. I can’t imagine not finding this band. The world needs more Nightwish and Floor Jansen, and they don’t even know it.

I was a huge Rush and Pink Floyd fan in HS (1985 grad). Did not know almost everything I owned was “prog rock”…adding Moody Blues, ELP, ELO, Boston, Foreigner. Listen to much more, but return to those when current music sucks (often). Now I have Nightwish and feel more complete and satisfied that music has not yet died.

The sickest part of Floor replacing Anette, is that she was at that point healing from a serious burn-out, and wasn't very eager to get back into the saddle. So in just 5 minutes while attending her sisters wedding she deicided to join Nightwish.

And it's funny that when they called her and before they could say anything she was like "can you call me back tomorrow" afterall she was attending her sisters wedding. Then she got a text message "All we wanted to ask if you would want to sing for Nightwish" and she was just shocked. :D Here is the Dutch tv feature which was shot just before and during the 2015 Tampere gig where she talks about how she came that far and how she was in life at that time. You can also see how she is as a person. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dGeCq8iuYNTcpMo.html&ab_channel=DavitLamazoshvili

In this line-up, Nightwish was very much an all-pro, if not an all-star band. You got the 2 founding members, with 18 years under their belt. Then Marko had over a dozen years with Tarot and SInergy before 2001 when he took NW to the next level. Floor had decade and a half with After Forever, Arjen's Star One, and her own ReVamp. Kai was highly regarded for nearly 20 years between WIntersun and Rotten Sound. Troy had his specialty multi-instrumentalist cred. That's a ton of studio and touring experience on that stage!

Jukka is a Tama drummer and Kai uses Pearl. Troy plays the Irish bouzouki and a couple of dozen other instruments. Troy comes from northern England, a very Celtic area of the country, so he tends to use traditional Celtic instruments. If you just want to concentrate on Floor's unique abilities, she just dropped "Face You Demons" today, from her recent solo show. It dates from her first band After Forever and she has taken the edge off of it for a Dutch, mostly mainstream, audience. The band backing her up is primarily a pop band and they're on record talking about the challenge to play metal. BTW, Floor wrote this song, kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zqebk7WPgcK3prQ.html

Kai is less flamboyant in his style but partly because the other band that he plays for (Wintersun) requires a very technical and fast drumming style so there is no room for the flamboyance that Jukka added in as the original Nightwish drummer. Whilst Kai was Jukka's teacher, he has been learning tricks and opening up his flamboyant side from Jukka who is still involved with Nightwish.

You couldn't do a reaction to the whole show because there are 8 shows and each is almost an hour but it gives a wonderful perspective on just what a kind of person she is and what comes through in each show is how she just blows everyone away every time it is her turn to perform. Try it some night where one of the kids is keeping you up for whatever reason. BTW you do realize just how big she is right? She stands about 6 foot one and her costumes often have 5 inch heels. So picture the meet and greet where you meet this woman that is standing about six foot six.. That's a lot of woman.

Unfortunately, Jukka decided to step aside due to a severe case of insomnia and migraines. We all miss his energetic stage performance and passion for playing. I think Jukka has a real swing to his drumming. Kai however is a beast as well. he is like a machine with his timing and meter. The Bouzouki is a Greek and Irish popular folk instrument. It is kind of a large mandolin. I love Gallows' Pole as well. You nailed it. Tuomas is a genius at painting soundscapes and using extreme dynamics to add dramatic impact to his compositions. Well done Eric. I concur!

I cannot wait until you react to "The Greatest Show on Earth". So many elements all coming together in what is truly The Greatest Show on Earth. Brings me to tears everytime with their powerful performance. It's haunting, it's spiritual, it's powerful, it's uplifting, it's a helluva rollercoaster ride. And in the middle, Kai THUNDERS the arena with his mid-song drum solo. Having actually seen it live myself (in a much smaller venue compared to Tampere or Wembley, a college auditorium), he rumbled the air throughout the venue. You FELT his drums throughout your body. Jukka is the Pirate King, but Kai is the Thunder God.

So Tuomas has spun another rainbow for you, then?! 🙂 He's rather good at it....genius, in fact! You are correct about Troy playing the bouzouki, but that's only the tip of his iceberg. Here's a list I found of what he plays; Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, low whistle, vocals, guitar (sometimes with eBow), keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone. Quite a strong Celtic and folk influence in his chosen instruments. He also writes and composes. He, Tuomas and Tuomas's lovely wife, Johanna Kurkala have a side project, under the name of Auri, which I recommend you check out. Think of Maggie Reilly, and you will be close to what Johanna sounds like. Here's a link to an interview with all three of them. No need to react to this...it's just for your enjoyment. kzread.info/dash/bejne/m5WZw6WMlsasm9o.html A beautiful composition, from the mind of Tuomas, 'A lifetime of Adventure', with Johanna providing crystal clear, soaring vocals. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fIurtbiIn5ixj84.html You also pick up on the chemistry between the band, and I believe this is one of the most important apsects which makes Nightwish fans love them so much, and be so loyal. I have posted many times, I know of few bands who enjoy their craft as much as Nightwish. They really have fun, and wee Emppu is usually in the thick of it! Really enjoying your insight and journey. PS. Love your description of Kai's playing style as pneumatic. Fits right in with his nickname of the 'Human metronome'. PPS. I notice the quality of this video is at a lower 360p than your usual 1080p?

So.... Kai Hahto : Kai Hahto is "The Human Metronome", or in my book Kai "The Machine Gun" Hahto ( is a Finnish musician and drummer). Someone once said , Jukka is playing like a Sith Lord and Kai is Playing like a Jedi Master 🤓. Hahto was a member of the grindcore band Rotten Sound. Hahto then recorded with the band Wintersun as a session drummer before joining them as a band member. Hahto has an endorsement relationship with Meinl cymbals, Pearl drums and hardware, Balbex drumsticks, Roland V-Drums and Finfonic earphones. On 6 August 2014, it was announced that Hahto will be playing drums on the forthcoming Nightwish album, replacing Jukka Nevalainen, who went on hiatus from the band due to insomnia, and Hahto performed on all live shows since that date. On July 15, 2019, Hahto became Nightwish's permanent drummer following Nevalainen's decision not to return to the band. And now Troy : Troy Donockley "The Bard" (is an English composer and multi-instrumentalist most known for his playing of Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone). 10 points for Bouzouki !!!!!! Now The Song : This one is against organized religions based on tribal religious texts, especially The Bible, it's not against personal faith in some Deity. However, one should realize that all those religious texts are & have been interpreted and used to justify unimaginable cruelties, persecution, discrimination etc., the worst being the idea that man is separate from nature & by some divine right above all other lifeforms, which explains the current almost catastrophic state of our planet. lyrics are spot on - so many fractures in our world have a root in the fantasy that each of the religions/sects/whatever are THE ONE way. This song speaks, with anger, against the fact that we humans are destroying ourselves and this world based on a power structure that needs to be made obsolete - we ALL deserve better. And That Floor's Freddie Mercury pose at the end ...... ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥. Floor's Valkyrie Powers are real !!!! This song is my Favorite song ( Richard Dawkins fan here, and atheist in me smiles) Nuff Said !!!! Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia 🤘😎🤘.

Here is the section on Floor ... one of her classmates proudly describes what Nightwish and Floor are - I won't spoil what he says beyond he clearly admires her accomplishments. The tape continues and at 2:05 the host and Floor are in the arena at Tampere prior to sound check. A short time after that she describes the famous phone call from Nightwish while at her sister's wedding. At 4:00 they add in her parents backstage ... their pride and love for her shines, she gets pretty emotional about that. Your reaction is as much a joy to watch as the song itself. Your comments are precisely to the point. I absolutely share your amazement for this band and Floor. Together they are like 1+1=3 For me the absolute best in music. Only Arjen Lucassen comes close ( other genre but still...) Like yourself I worked at several radio stations in the Netherlands. For 20 years.... A lot of shit was broadcasted, as it is today. Never anything like this was promoted. To the point that for a couple of years not a person in the Netherlands knew who Floor Jansen was. Never heard of.... Only some metal lovers knew but they are not mainstream in the Netherlands. And then she participated in a Dutch TV show with singers singing each other song called "Beste zangers" ( best singers). That woke up the Dutchies. She blew everyone away and was famous and loved in virtually seconds . Someone reacted in a reaction video: The worst thing that can happen to you as a professional artist is that Floor makes a cover from your song or hit. You immediately loose that song. She does it better and owns that song from that moment onwards. It is not what she tries to achieve. She is a gorgious sweet human being. But that's just how it goes.....

Troy is a multi-instrumentalist. You saw him do al little here but in songs as "i want my tears back", "My walden", Elan, you'll see him in all his glory :-). What he was playing here was an Irish Bouzouki wich is an Irish variant of an originaly Greek instrument. Donal Lunny, Irish folk legend, is one very well known practitioner of that amazing instrument.

I don’t know if anyone else has recommended these Nightwish songs but here goes: Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean and 10th Man Down from their show in Buenos Aires. I haven’t commented on your channel before so I just want to say that I truly enjoy your reactions and hearing what you have to say.

I like the comparison of a reggae band in Alabama. For those outside of the states that don’t know about certain cultures in American society are probably thinking WTF is he talking about? If you’re from the states, you get the humor behind the comparisons. I understood it immediately. Got a good giggle out of it.

Tuomas is a genius. The 2nd cd on Human Nature is Tuomas also. Auri is special especially the way Tuomas writes and his wife sings. Welcome to Our Beautiful Valkyrie Queen

yeah Troy came on board the same time as Floor, and you are absolutely right about Floor, she stated in an interview that she was nervous as hell at Wacken cause she's never played to a crowd that big (82,000) and Wacken was the "Superbowl" of rock and metal and they were the closing act of the last night. But if you don't like musicals you may not like the other two production numbers in the same vein as Ghost Love Score, the Poet and the Pendulum is 14 mins and it's about the only number people recommend one does research on first cause it's personal about Tuomas and the band and a good follow up is Master Passion Greed where they really vented, has some harsh lyrics but to me it's my favorite and possibly the heaviest metal they've done, no live though only official video cause TAuomas said it would never appear on their setlist cause he's not that guy anymore. and the other is The Greatist Show On Earth whis 20 minutes long about evolution and Richard Dawkins, but in any case I do like you're descriptions, very accurate.

Love your analyses and reaction style! Just wait until you hear yet more facets of Floor's remarkably diverse talent (across all genres and in 8 languages)! And wait until you hear a few interviews with her away from the stage to see what a humble, genuine, and sweet human being she is in real life. If Jukka is swinging the 16 lb sledge hammers at the skins, you can find a short video of Floor being the one literally wielding a 16 lb sledge hammer to drive wooden 4 by 4 posts into the ground to build a horse paddock on her and Hannes' (the first soldier out of the trenches in Christmas Truce) massive farm in Sweden!

Tuomas has all instruments to his band , and i say Floor is an instrument too. She always sings what she wants and nothing more 😁
