I’ve seen tons of comments arguing this isn’t the best single season for a striker in premier league history… how so? In his first season, he broke the PL scoring record, something that hasn’t been broken for almost 30 years (Salah was close but he’s not a striker). That’s not even considering he can still reach 40 goals by the end of the season and make it that much harder for anyone to break his record going forward + will most likely win the league. I think a lot of people are taking this record being broken for granted and downplaying Haalands overall dominance so far.

What the panel isn't aware of. Is Haaland has scored 9 more goals, than his XG in the Premier League. So he's well surpassed his expected production, from the opportunities he's had. Is scoring a goal every 71 minutes in EPL play. A goal every 68 minutes in all fixtures. Neither Shearer, or Cole came near Haaland's production. I understand it's hard to compare different eras. But guess what, he will have an xGs output of well over 30-it’s already 29 and a fraction-which could be the highest in the history of the league. Saying Haaland gets more chances now than the older record setters got is just bull. You need to look at conversion rate. And he coverts at a higher percentage than any other forward. City is dominant for sure, but they don't give him that many chances per game. They play more backwards and sideways than forwards..... These were the stats for Haaland's first 34 goals in the premier league: Haaland's 34 Premier League goals have come from 106 shots and, even more ridiculously, 727 total touches. That's a shot conversion rate of 32.1%, and a touch conversion rate of 4.7%. I bet you Shearer and Cole's conversion rate are lower by quite a bit, meaning they need more chances to score a goal that Haaland on average. Prove me wrong if you can....;-)

HAALAND KING 🎉🎉🎉
Steve Nicol said exactly what I said, except I got cancelled for it. He said that Real Madrid wouldn’t have been Champions League winners without Courtois. It’s so true! He saved them from defeat more times than I can count.
He is a great striker, likely the best in the world, but playing for the English PSG who often won games 4 or 5 nil with no striker

City still have 5 matches left. Haaland could easily hit 40.
This Manchester city team is over power one of the most o.p team I’ve ever seen since Real Madrid. Prime Suarez in this team is goal galore
Erling Tail Beast Haland
I said it before and I'm gonna say it again. Haaland smell goals like a shark smells blood. He's rushes in to the spot where he can receive the pass and make the kill. So far his judgment and shot making has been impeccable. Because City is so good pressurizing the opposition and squeezing them around the penalty area, we don't see that much of Haaland streaking with the ball from outside the area towards goal. But we know from his Salzburg and Dortmund days he can do it, unlike Lewandowski. Haaland has the speed and the size to hold off defenders when he does that.
No one was comparing Mo Salah era to Sherear and Cole era when he scored 32 goals… when was the best thing since sliced bread… stay consistent

Comparing today's game to the game in the 90s isn't right. It was a much different game 20-30 years ago. The 90s were way more physical. I'm not trying to downplay Haaland's achievements, he could probably play very well in that 90s era, but I agree with Nicol, you can't compare Shearer and Cole to Haaland.

Individual defenders might have been more physical then but that doesn't mean today's defenders are inferior. Defenders today are tactically aware, more skilful and the defensive tactics are more advanced.

Dude stop it. We all know you are looking for an excuse to indirectly downplay Haaland’s achievements without everybody realizing. You’re just trying to keep it subtle. Not gonna work. Haaland>>>>>>>>> Cole + Shearer deal with it. Keep your English bias aside. If Haaland chose England instead of Norway, he would be a god to you already. Truth is, today’s defenders are just as physical as the old ones. Not only that, they are also tactically, technically and skillfully better, and today’s game is much more advanced and progressive, the past can’t even compare. We all watched those highlights when Maradona and Pele used to nutmeg defenders who had the agility of a loaded truck 😂 and used to just stare when they were shooting instead of trying to block the shots 😭😭😂. No arguments needed. Period.

@@hailyrizzo5428 The point I'm making is that challenges/fouls were judged differently back then. Shearer and Cole got more bumps and bruises on a daily basis than most players today get in a season. The eras are almost incomparable. That is why I don't like to compare what happens in today's game to what happened 30 years ago. Cole and Shearer experience a different game 30 years ago. That is the way it is in most sports minus a few where there is no physical challenges to the game like baseball.
