Thank you for your honest reaction!❗💜

Wonderful to see you back with Angelina! When she got the golden buzzer at AGT and all the judges went to join her on the stage, Simon Cowell told her "I don't think you know how good you are! What makes AJ, AJ, is humility. She is so humble, she doesn't know she's humble, let alone fantastic. As Simon said to her after the golden buzzer, "I don't think you know how good you are, seriously" (a very hard to find video clip btw) I truly feel that while she knows she's good, she is too humble to realize her greatness. Let's hope Republic Records fosters this humbleness.

I hate when I agree with a Habs fan! 😂 Seriously, I couldn’t agree more about her most defining personality trait. For me a musician’s character always feeds into how I process their music. Humility is extremely important to me because it makes the music real. Artists who lack it instinctively make the music about themselves. I think you are right about Angelina but I believe she doesn’t know because she doesn’t even think about it. She just does her thing, in life and in music. Sincerely, Sens fan

I would maybe agree that this is a 9.5 ....but a 9.5 on the angelina scale ;) In fact, if we made a scale of only angelina songs, I might drop it to a 9. Don't get me wrong, it is an incredible vocal (and one more side of her versitile voice), but she has done so many others that I favor over this one. It actually says a lot about how good she is that this beautiful vocal is not even in her top ten (for me anyway... it might be someone elses current favorite). I always appreciate your honesty, Maunalee :)

I feel the same way about this one. I think it's because, using a karaoke backing track like this, she is locked in to the tempo set by the track. If she were to direct some changes to the orchestra (or, if one of her regular guitarists were doing background), it would have given her more freedom to be herself. I'm sure the results would have been ... whatever is better than great. A mere 9 or 9.5 on the Angelina scale would still have to be considered "great". I value Maunalee's comments and thoughts so I'm always a bit nervous when she does an AJ reaction.

Here is a nice write up about her from : David Touma 1 month ago (edited) Thank you for your genuine reaction and welcome to the world of Angelina Jordan. Angelina Jordan was 9 years old when this song was recorded. It was a tribute to Screamin Jay Hawkins who was quite a character. Most of the times he performed the song rising from a coffin in a voodoo style. Angelina is Norwegian, her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar. Her father is Swedish, her mother is Norwegian from a Japanese father and Iranian Mother Mery Zamani who is a poet and a painter and was a child prodigy in her own rights. She started singing at the age of one and a half when she fell in love with Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. A year later she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and showed lot of interest in artists like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, and Louis Armstrong. Angelina pestered her mother to enter her in “Simons Show” as she called it from the age of 3. Her mother relented and entered her in Norway Got Talent at the age of 7 where she auditioned with Billie Holiday’s Gloomy Sunday. She went ahead to win the the big prize at the finals where she received 46% of the votes while the remaining 9 finalists combined received 54%. Angelina said she likes singing because she wants to bring joy and love to the whole world. One of her dreams from a very young age was to sing at the Nobel Peace Prize concert. She accomplished that at the age of 8 singing Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World. After winning NGT, she was flooded with offers from major music labels as well as Disney but they were all turned down by her and her family in order for her to continue her education and to protect her artistic integrity. Her uncle/manager in an interview last year he talked about music labels top executives who would fly to Norway on private jets with huge contracts offers but would leave mad and frustrated because they never expected being turned down. Angelina is fluent in Norwegian as well as in English. She also speaks some Swedish which is very close to Norwegian and probably learned it from her father. She also speaks Farsi which she learned from her grandmother as well as some Japanese that she picked up from her grandfather as well as her mom and uncle who lived for a period of time in Japan. She actually performed a Japanese song at a concert in Japan. Most of her performances after NGT were for charitable children organizations where she helped to raise millions. At the age of 6 and while travelling in another country with her family, she came across a young orphaned shoeless girl who was weighing people on a bathroom scale for some coins in order to support herself and her siblings. After chatting with her for a while and without prompting from her family, she gave her shoes to the orphan girl. She recorded that incident in her diary and vowed to always sing barefoot when doing that in public to remember that girl and to remind herself and us about the many needy children around the world. At the age of 9 she wrote and published a book about that encounter making her Norway’s youngest published author. Proceeds from that book are donated to children charities. Angelina Jordan has about 140 songs in her repertoire. Late last year she signed with Republic Records as their highest priority new artist. Her versatility is unmatched. She will wow and surprise you all the time. 15 years old today who is an excellent role model for today’s youth and her best is yet to come. Thank you for reading.

Angelina is the only young singer 10/14 years old who has the ability to bring back Jazz, and oldies to a new generation of music fans. She is the only singer among all the new talent out there that has a incredible diverse fan base ages 30 thru late 80's instead of just teen buyers like most of the other singers her age. But she must try to bring in the young buyer in order to succeed in the record industry. I really think AGT Champions helped her in that respect, although many are going GA GA over Daneliya at this point. Angelina's advantage is her versatility, and she is not a "cookie cutter" BELTER like the rest.

I may be talking out of turn here, but I believe she DOESN'T understand just how good she is. I mean, she is SO good at putting an emotional spin on her music with such ease and natural ability. Angelina just sings - in her own style - no airs and graces - she just uses her huge natural talent and sings it as she sees fit. The result is incredible and incomparable music. She sometimes appears to be emotionless but I suspect it's because she's continually critical of what she has just sung? Who knows except the wonderful Angelina. She comes across as a very caring and thoughtful person. Maybe we should stop trying to dissect her and just enjoy? :) xxx

The evidence would disagree with you. One of Angelina's defining characteristics is that she is never nervous or anxious about performing. She has an almost limitless confidence in her ability to know how a song should sound and then proceed to produce it perfectly. If she had any misgivings about how good she is, then that would not be the case. Ipso facto. Many misread her humble nature as ignorance of her own ability.

One amazing about Angelina is that she has the unique and wonderful ability that only a very rare few artists have; she can change her voice by almost ''sculpting'' it to suite the song that she is performing. What an amazing, almost otherworldly talent. You mentioned that have Persian as your heritage. Thank you for not saying Iranian. This shows respect and honor for your ancestors and your culture. Yes, we have to make a distinction between a reviewer, a fan, and a reactor. A reviewer tends to be a professional who's opinions are supported by expert arguments; a fan is an enthusiast of an artist or group who only is positive about those that appeal to them, and; a reactor may be anything whatsoever. I tend to like reactors who are experts, yet reveal real joy when a performance hits all the right buttons, and are consistent in their judgement.

FRt8JyZI A musical prodigy, Angelina Jordan sang for the first time at barely a year old, and she never stopped. The Los Angeles-based 14-year-old singer and songwriter amplified her voice around the globe, racking up over half-a-billion KZread views, just shy of 2 billion Facebook views, and praise from Time, CNN, The BBC, and People. Along the way, she performed for world leaders at some of the most influential events in Europe, appeared on European and North American television, and quietly enraptured a growing fan base. In 2020, she brings a soulful signature sound to life with her Republic Records debut. The breadth of Angelina’s soulful and deep alto vocal delivery showcases a rare class of musical aptitude that you would attribute to an old soul, and legendary talent, well beyond her years. “I feel like I’ve lived many years more than my age. I feel like music found me. I want people to get connected to my music and my lyrics and to share something special with the love I have for music." Angelina went from belting out Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” to immersing herself in jazz at five-years-old. She discovered Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Louis Armstrong by combing jazz playlists across KZread. At eight-years-old, she won Norway’s Got Talent with a viral rendition of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday.” Labels and producers feverishly sought her out, but she already possessed a clear picture of what her path would be. Taking her time, she opted to carefully hone her voice through countless hours of practice, gigs, and writing. “It was really great, but I knew I wanted something bigger,” she admits. “I didn’t want to jump into it until I felt I was ready.” She got “ready” through a series of historic performances. She graced the stage of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony and delivered an emotionally charged rendition of “What A Wonderful World.” A year later, she wowed an audience at Brilliant Minds in Stockholm. Touching down in Seoul during 2017, she joined a powerhouse bill alongside PSY and Norah Jones in front of 40,000 people at Muse In City Festival. Quincy Jones personally invited her to perform at his 85th birthday at London’s O2 Arena. Every time she took the stage, she was notably barefoot, which remains one of her signatures thus far. “A long time ago, I was traveling with my family, and I met a young homeless girl with no shoes,” she recalls. “She was barefoot, so I gave her my shoes because I really wanted to help her. Today, I sing barefoot as a reminder of all the kids in the world who need help and support.” Along the way, GRAMMY® Award-winning production duo Stargate [Beyoncé, Sam Smith, Rihanna] reached out, and they initiated a fervent creative partnership together. She continued to write lyrics, compose on piano and guitar, and record. Catching the attention of Republic Records, she inked a deal with the label in 2020. Now, she formally introduces herself on the single “Million Miles.” With lyrics exclusively penned by Angelina, her robust delivery sails over sparse piano on the verses as the track builds towards a sweeping refrain, “We’re a million miles apart. It’s pulling my heart." “Million Miles” is about losing someone you really love,” she explains. “This song is very personal to me, because I had never felt the feeling of losing someone before I wrote this.” With more music on the horizon, there is more of Angelina’s captivating voice and songwriting in store. “I hope you feel connected to the music and the stories behind the songs,” she leaves off. “Love is the most powerful thing though. That’s the message.” Angelina Jordan a decade of dedication 86 Melody kzread.info/head/RD9Tw

Aha, a reactor BEGGING for angelina requests. Thats definitively a first. She's still not really comfortable with all the praise, you can tell when she's on concerts. At Norways got Talent she told a story she sang for an old woman and reduced her to tears. She desperately tried to apologize (probably beeing horrified by that reaction), but was confronted with straitout denial that anything was wrong plus a big hug. She looked positivly puzzled about that encounter. And the only word she ever had for peoples reactions was "funny", which sounds to me like a synonym to "incomprehensible" when she talks about it.

I'd call it a hypnotic wave to snap us all out of that emotional ride she took us all on together. Thank goodness she does that wave :). For sure she feels what's been sung and I think she draws most of that emotion from the amazing connection she feels with her family. AGT Bohemian, the clothes she is wearing are her grandmothers paintings turned into clothing for the audition on that day.

You get goosepimples and I cry. I love those low notes. You know when she sings these they're not a finished product. These are her test runs She is seeing what feels right, or not. I wouldn't care if this were a "finished" product, I would still love it. Oh that crying thing?!! I have a quirk. When you're a witness to something that defies explanation, and you respond by getting chills, my quirk makes me cry. I have been that way since I was 4-5 or as far back as I care to remember. It was problematic growing up but hey you either embrace it or go nuts. Have you listened to Daneliya's efforts on AGT 2020? You should they were pretty good. Her voice has lowered a bit too. She is 6 months younger than Angelina. So these two singers are going to move the world one day. They both have a unique vocal qualities and both have that Magic in them. I'm sorry I have to go my brain is going into freefall. I have moments where my brain takes a break without checking with me.

Angelina Jordan is one the best cover artists in the industry today. A cover artist’s version of a song always gets compared to the original version or the most popular version of a song. When I hear a Angelina sing “All of Me” I immediately think of John Legend’s version. If I enjoy Angelina’s version more, I will listen to it again when I am in the mood to hear this song otherwise I’ll go back to John Legend’s version. The problem for cover artists is that their version of a song is rarely better than the original. So it is my hope that Angelina will write songs for herself or hire writers to write songs for her. Time is on her side.

hi Maunalee! Long time no see :) I really love this performance by Angelina! Did you hear those amazing low tones, so rich and warm? And that sweet head voice of hers? I think, as some said, if we are splitting hairs here, the backing vocals were not the best. But hey, she definitely killed the song and, as usual, conveyed that emotions that go straight to ones heart :) Regarding your comment, I think Angelina knows how good she is but being a humble, unassuming person she doesn't put too much attention or fuzz into it. She has always said that what she wanted was to sing to the world and make people happy. So from her perspective, she has done so and will go on to reach millions more! See you in the next one.
