Yep, the Eras really really proved how incredible she is now at singing
I had a lot of thoughts on the antihero scale fiasco. What she puts out to the world is her art and her art is derived from her personal experiences. We should, as a society, be able to engage in discourse over subjects that trigger an emotional response without feeling the need to have it banned or censored. I also really felt awful that so many people took her experience, minimized it, and then one upped it to somehow make it about themselves. It was disturbing.

PS atw sad girl autumn version was infinitely better than the antinoff version. However, the original atw is the best. She herself said it went from being something that was hard to perform to something she loved to perform because of the fans. So, with that in mind, I think it was hard to replicate the hurt we felt in the original.

That's really interesting - I'm fifteen (Taylor's Version) and most of my irl swiftie friends really love the slower, reflective songs. As a new Swiftie (only a fan since last October(2022)) the rerecording process is suuuuper fun and really educational. Everytime a new rerecording is announced, the veteran swifties revisit those eras to give insight and context as to what was going on in Taylor's life for her to make this album and write what she wrote. It also kind of makes me feel like I'm living through the era as if it were the original and I'm loving it!
As a Speak Now stan I wholeheartedly disagree with it being overrated, if anything it's extremely underrated! I can admit part of it is nostalgia but I truly do think it's one of the best albums ever made (not by just Taylor but by anyone)! Yes to the scale thing in the Anti-Hero music video. As someone with a past of anorexia and just being a mentally ill person this was a scene that really resonated with me.
i think its so funny when people try to tell taylor that how she interprets HER OWN ART is wrong. just because she conforms to traditional beauty standard doesn't mean that shes not allowed to feel bad about herself. its the betty situation all over, if taylor her self says that she wrote a song about something or percives herself in some way, you are in no place to tell her that is wrong.
Re-recordings are actually helping her gain more fans. I remember when she released RED TV (especially the ATW short film) , a lot of my acquaintances and friends became an instant swifties as they claim themselves now . At first it was annoying cause they kinda overdo it but it makes me happy that they're starting to appreciate what they're missing all these years. Also, the streaming services at this moment are relevant, strong and impactful unlike when Tay debuted, which is why people (especially young ones) who didn't experience the Taylor Swift fever before, have now the chance to do so., Taylor rerecording her masters is really a smart move. She's so good at marketing herself and that's why her longevity is unbelievable.
two things!! i honestly think taylor is still so traumatised by red not winning AOTY that she’s scared of branching out with a bunch of different producers and has decided to keep jack as her main collaborator, so that she can continue to make “sonically cohesive” work. secondly i agree with you that people should still get chosen from crowds for m&g - personally i’ve been a swiftie since fearless era and i used to be very involved in the fandom when i was younger on tumblr & twitter, but as i’ve gotten older and now have a very public facing job role in mental health, i have to keep my social media as private as possible and that makes it impossible to ever get “noticed” online, although i still actively follow everything that happens online with swifties. tbh now that i’m coming up on 25 i’m less invested in the idea of meeting taylor, of course i would love to but i’m not gonna go to insane lengths in order to, i still like the idea that more lowkey but still diehard swifties would still get their chance to meet her

I think she could do “influenced by (alternative) rock” album, not a full blown rock pop though - she doesn’t have the voice. What I think people want from her, including me, is to bring out more guitars and other instruments, bacically to break down the nowadays mainstream layer of production. But not necessarily combine it with the folk feel of Folklore. With Midnights people hoped for that - the FleetwoodMac, Joni Mitchell kind of music. Midnights is a good project and well executed but I would like to see her go against the mainstream flow of music, it’s over saturated at this point.
About the antihero video, this one is so tough bc I think it works to get the message across just as well edited out (with her inner critic looking down and shaking her head), but I hate that people made her edit out the original just bc it feels so counterproductive to her healing and being vulnerable with the public :/

I think I am a bigger fan of Midnights 3am edition for the same reason that I love songs like Peace: they are deeper meaning songs. I love Karma and Midnight Rain but I haven’t listened to WCS without crying. This was such a fun video.
Speak Now has always been my favorite album of hers. And it absolutely deserves more respect. 💜
i am 16 but istg speak now is CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED that album has absolutely no skips
As an newer fan that happens to be in a much older age bracket I will tell you that if you don't connect with Midnight's you simply don't get it. It is a therapy album. There are some songs that feel so raw it's almost as if she's let you read the transcript of a therapy session. Just using the very first song Lavender Haze as an example. Most people would simply think it's a bop and her calling out the media for all the "their engaged" hype they use as clickbait. It's that but it's also so much bigger than that. If you are a woman in your late 20's early 30's and have been in a stable relationship for longer than 6 months trust me when I say you have experienced the "when are you getting married", "when are you having kids" pressure. Not only from friends and family but random fucking strangers will ask you the same damn questions. You don't escape it if you are single either or have expressed that you have zero desire to marry and even less desire to have children. In that case you are made to feel like you are either defective or you simply don't know your own mind. The amount of times someone told me I would change my mind once I met the right man is endless. In Taylor's case she not only feels the pressure we all feel but she gets it magnified to a horrifying level by not only the media but her fans as well. That song for me has such "bad bitch" vibes of her telling everyone, fans included that she is going to do what she wants and not what society expects of her no matter how much she is pushed. Plus you can dance to it. 😉

I kind of get the reasoning behind the eras tour, though. Midnights was supposed to be a retrospective on her career. Like old feelings recycled into new songs, so it would make sense to do an eras tour now. I kind of see it as an end to one chapter and beginning of a new one

Same! I think it makes perfect sense. I AM afraid of the wave of bloodshed when people's personal fav songs from an era weren't chosen though lol 👀
This is such a good video omg
so excited for this lmao. skimmed through some of the replies to the twitter post and some of the things that were said ........
I completely agree with everything you said about Speak Now. It is my all time favorite Taylor album
Speak now was the first album i bought of Taylor and i totally agree, that album Is BEAUTIFUL and It Is underrated af cuz no one gets the dept and pureness of It ☁️
I love these videos. Thanks, King!
It’s funny listening to you talk about the upcoming Eras Tour not knowing it’s going to be the biggest tour ever
THANK YOU FOR THE SPEAK NOW APPRECIATION ITS MY FAVORITE ALBUM
You're my bestie Zack You have 1 of the best channels on YT thank you so much for your blessing my life
So glad you pointed out the Holy Ground TV issue. I felt the same way hearing the TV version. It doesn't have the same feeling of lightness. I listen to the original and I feel like I'm floating.
I LOVED bleachella. She looked super cute. Also TY for saying it abt the scale! Was not what the msg was and anyone who took it that way was kinda missing the msg
Lover is my most favorite album and the Lover/end of Reputation era showcased Taylor's voice at its best ♡
As a newish stan i love listening experiencing taylor version because i get to look into the era that taylor is reclaiming and i love learning from older swifties
Bleachella era was a slay. I am convinced that the slander would stop if people stopped to think for themselves for just like one second.

well that's actually a perfect observation, and applies far wider than just TS fandom.
The fact that people seem to bash on Joel Little for producing Me and YNTCD on Lover are missing a gigantic point that Joel Little is also the one produced Lorde's debut album and Marina's 'To be Human'. I've always wanted Taylor to work with Joel before Lover came out, knowing him for the better, but the creative approach Taylor took with Lover was off from the beginning and she is most likely the reason why the songs sound the way they do.
I also think artists need to stop listening / being scared of the 'woke' mob bc that's what's making them have power in the first place

I just think that ME! isn't bad... Taylor had a really good time making it and planning the mv, when I listen to it I just have a good time with an uptempo. ❤️

WHY with the slander on speak now. thank you for showing it love because that album deserves way more appreciation and attention (at least among swifties, I know a lot of people in the comments appreciate it lol) red and speak now are my two favorite albums and it upsets me to see the hate on them I feel like red is somewhat appreciated but only because of ATW 😭 love that song but why is that the only thing people care about when it comes to Red
When you mentioned that there was a version for All Too Well (10 minute version) with the original instrumentals I had to IMMEDIATELY open a new tab and check that out! 🤩
Love it❤ waiting part 2

I'll join in on the Speak Now love. It isn't one of my personal favourite albums yet I always seem to have loads of trouble kicking it out of my top 3... That's how indisputably great it is.
wooow i haven’t stopped listening to midnights since release. it’s my favourite pop taylor album🤷♀️
I hope she collaborates with Max Martin, Shellback and Ryan Tedder again.

I never thought about the “point” of the re-records as you discussed.
as a speak now stan, i love the "speak now is underrated" rant like YES. LOUDER!
34:47 yes 🙌 yes 🙌 yes the fact that she has perfected every strut glance glare smile point shimmy. She’s a true professional on stage in front of 70,000 people. It’s like she doesn’t get shy 🙈 love it ICONIC girl
Your indignation is fabulous! I laughed every time!
"Beautiful Ghosts" as a song alone is really good though
Love her over-rehearsed-ness on tour. Speak now is sooo good with like barely 2 skips or something. One of my favorite albumss for sure. I heard the og when tv was announced and loved itt.
Great episode!
i'm a relatively new and young swiftie but speak now is and always will be my favorite album and i will challenge anyone who says it is overrated or bad to the fucking grave. words cannot express just how emotionally attached i am to that album and even if it isn't your favorite album you cannot deny that it is a masterpiece and underrated as hell. also speak now is probably the closest thing we will get to a rock album and personally i am ok with that however the rock version of negbt at the 1989 world tour proves everyone who says taylor can't do rock wrong. that performance is iconic.
to celebrate the eras tour presale, would you consider doing a reputation stadium tour reaction/live stream watch along? i'd love to hear your thoughts on some of the stages and song choices!
Thank you for appreciating Speak Now!!
my unpopular opinions: i don’t dare to rank taylors albums but if i did lover certainly would be in the top three. like it gave us cruel summer, title track, the archer, maathp, dbatc, paper rings, daylight, cornelia street, afterglow, false god, paper rings…which are literally some of her best songs from her whole catalogue. even me & yntcd are sometimes pretty enjoyable. also 1989 isn’t the immaculate holy pop album everyone pretends it is. reputation clears with ease. and for ts11 i want taylor to leave pop again and go back to the folklore/evermore sound. loved your video and thank you for defending cruel summer with your life, it deserves

Happy to hear all of this opinions ❤
I think she did the eras tour because there were 4 albums she hadn't toured for. Obviously Lover was meant to have a tour and we know from that one clip of a fan meeting Taylor she really liked Lover and didn't want to abandon the idea of it having a tour completely. So she could have done a Lover/folklore/evermore/Midnights tour however folklore and evermore aren't extremely concert material albums, so maybe Taylor just decided to do all albums so she could tour for every album (except Debut still) and not make the concerts heavy with not extremely concert material songs if that makes sense?
love your content!!!
the prayer is my favorite part of every video
Obsessed with your unhinged swiftie videos. Thanks for feeding into my distraction from real life 🫶🏻
Love your videos! As an older Swifty (who has been around since Tim McGraw) I agree with you on like 98% on everything!!!! 😂 I appreciate all the work you put into your videos! Thanks! 😊

And “Mine” is a wonderful song. “Dear John” is incredible. I remember listening to the CD (yep!) back in like 2010 and thinking “Daaamn!” But I remember listening to Fearless in 2009-ish thinking “Dear Lord….this young woman has some major talent.” Her writing was just unbelievable for her age.

you saying girl at home (new version) is terrible hurt cause I'm OBSESSED with the new version more than the old
You are SO mean to us and I LOVE it 😂😂😂 Also Speak Now bad???? Have you heard LONG LIVE?!? Not possible. So curious if you bought anything from the Christmas merch drop. I got the Cruel Summer hoodie 😁 Much more tolerable merch options except I'm still super torn over the Right Where You Left Me hoodie. GD I love that song but why do they love tie dye so much?!?!
“This album, Karma.” Slip of the tongue 😂 Love that this video also served as an update on your thoughts about things such as the Anti-Hero music video edit, the remixes, and overall evolving opinions on Midnights as a whole. Thank you once again for the prayer and your content.

I know I’m late to this but THANK YOU for defending Dear John. Truly a masterpiece
So good and SO SMART in retrospect.
I was finishing my English major and I kid you not Folklore and Evermore are the only albums I could not stop listening. I am GLAD you mention Peace! That song is very underrated like Ivy and Cowboy Like Me (My favorite lyric is: "Now you hang from my lips/Like the Gardens of Babylon" give me that religious metaphor please... Also Mad Woman). Also, "Forever is the sweetest con" like ughhh soooooooooo good.
