That doesn’t make it any cheaper, but he walks you through (while you watch him do it) everything he does in writing a song. For what you can pull out of this coarse, the price is justified. Save up for the next one if you can’t make this one.

Andrew Leung, which is my favorite so far, is like... like something light and fluttery, like strawberries or marshmallow fluff, and then the rest of the beat is like... dark chocolate? The Imposter sounded a bit Anathema. The style but especially that accent. Knights Of Disco fell flat by not having a Disco beat. Missed the mark, feels like. Aki doing Boards Of Canada. Has to be at least one doing them. I do dig that style, though. A lot of these tracks have a similar problem I always struggle with myself. Having outside the box chords just for the sake of them, without understanding them. I dont know how Jazz musicians do it, but there is an art to chord choices I need to get my head around, and some of these could do with looking into, too.

The chords thing imo is less about chords themselves and more about how you transition between them, you can make strange progressions work given the right bridge melody between them

As someone that is much more a musician than a producer, it seems like it is pretty hard to gain an intuitive feel for chords/riffs/melodies on a computer versus just noodling around on a fretboard, keyboard, etc.

As a jazz pianist, I think it really just comes down to playing a ton of jazz standards. You begin to recognize certain progressions (like ii-V-I's and all that) after playing them so much. Also, having to improvise over the changes really helps to internalise harmony, as it's kinda like superimposing harmony over existing chord changes.
