Funniest part might be that "aggressively supportive" isn't just an LGBTQ thing. Me and my brother are special needs, and my mom constantly talks and helps in Autism/Neurodivergent support groups, and befriends other moms who have special needs kids.

@@favoritechild7464 Eh, I've got the other side of the parental spectrum- I can see how it would be super awkward and cringy, but at the same time it sounds kinda awesome, not having toxic parents that you're in the closet for because you're scared of being homeless. To be fair though, it seems like a "better by comparison" kind of thing. If I'd never experienced abusive parents then I'd probably think that overly supportive parents are THE WORST. Edit: I just realized it sounds like I'm saying "shut up, it's not that bad" but that's not my intent. Your feelings and experiences are valid, and annoyance is definitely an appropriate reaction to over-supportive parents. Sorry if my message came out wrong. I can delete it if it makes you feel better. 😅

Why are you *telling* them which option to pick? I would think it would be much better to *ask* them which one they think fits them best, and to explain what the options mean if they're unsure. I'm not sure if I should be concerned about them possibly feeling pressured to identify as non-binary, or if it was just a missed opportunity to promote them thinking for themselves (one anecdote is not a lot to go off of). But the advice applies in either case.

I was fine with that because, I was like, it happens when it happens, I'm not gonna get into a relation-sh*t just because that's what expected. Plus I loooove romance stories (movies, novels, manwah, anime, all of it!!) so I wasn't sure about being ace even though I knew about it like 5-6 years ago. But last year, I was like, naah, I'm just ace. Maybe even aro.

2:40 Aw, this one reminds me of my siblings. They are both under the age of 10 and I got to teach them a few things about the LGBTQ+ community before my homophobic uncle could and they are the cutest and most supportive little kids. I have a little list: -Every time we are driving to church, we pass by a neighborhood with a few pride flags in it and they start bouncing around and excitedly point it out to me -One of their dolls uses they/them pronouns and the younger one just kinda walked up to me and told me all about them. -My siblings like to loudly host gay marriages in the kitchen and I'm the lawyer that helps them out a few minutes later when the couple gets divorced. -The older one of the two likes to doodle and wanted to make a gender neutral character and forgot what nonbinary was and told me they called them a birl (pronounced broil).

Affirming churches are awesome! I'm actually in the process of compiling a bunch of verses to prove to my parents that lgbt people should be accepted so my little brother can come out to them. I've had this sort of discussion with them before, so I finally asked them: "What do you think is a greater sin? Making lgbt people feel unwelcome from church to the point of abandoning god entirely, or letting them get married?" And then they went quiet. It's not following the Bible, it's just bigotry. I actually recently found out that I'm ace, and that being ace used to be controversial in the Christianity in the same way being lgbt is now. Your lineage was everything, and the people who didn't get married, called eunuchs, were seen as destroying what God wanted for them. However, in the New Testament, we see that one of the first gentile Christians was a eunuch. He wasn't made to get married or even told that he was wrong, they just accepted him. And I think that's a pretty clear picture of how we're supposed to interact with lgbt people. Nobody is ever debated into salvation, and that's not our job. Think of one person who had a religious argument and then converted. It just doesn't happen. What we're supposed to do is love people, and make everyone feel welcome. If we look at the Bible, we see that God uses EVERYONE. A lot of the people who are admired and revered also did some pretty crappy and unethical things. And that's the point. So why are we discriminating against lgbt people, who have done nothing wrong by simply existing? It makes no sense to me. Congrats for being able to come out!

As an anthropologist I can say that even ancient, Rome, Greece, and Egypt had majorly bisexual or pansexual individuals. It was actually thought of as more odd to only be into one gender, especially if that gender was the opposite of one's own. There were also many transgender individuals, some of which were emperors and pharaohs. I only name those three places to start because they are some of the easiest to find information on. Even some Scandinavian and Celtic places would embrace it, same goes for native Americans. There were tribes that perceived those who were non-binary, gender fluid, or transgender as being above those who were not. They saw them as being either closer to the gods or as deities themself. Christianity didn't originally condemn those who are a part of the LBGTQ+ community, that came later. People would either change the meaning in differing religious text or it would be re-written to accommodate the more hateful and controlling beliefs. People have used religion to control others for a long time. There are many places that have it far worse than western civilisation. People get murdered for it in the west but it's at least illegal, even if not given proper justice. In places such as the middle east it's more acceptable and even thought as the right thing to do to anyone who is part of the LGBTQ+. Which is of course followed up with hypocrisy, akin to how they would want a woman killed who does porn. Yet men there do protests to legalise porn, although they would still think a woman deserves the death sentence if she does it. I realize the two are separate, I just wanted another way to show their hypocrisy. We should be aware of the hypocrisy in the west, for those from here. Either way I could get into this further but this is already a long message for KZread.

Vent i guess I went to the mall with my parents and brother and it sucked. We went to the boys clothes section for my brother and I was jealous cause I saw so many things I wanted but just couldn't get. I'm transmasc (not out to anyone) and my parents can't even fathom getting me a plain t shirt if it's from the boys section. I needed some socks, so I grabbed some off a shelf. My mother said and I quote 'those socks are from the boys section we can't get those'. I literally died on the inside. How am I ever gonna come out to them. The nightmare doesn't end though. I wanted a hoodie, so we went to the hoodie section. I found a hoodie i relly liked, but again it was from the boys section. So i said nothing. My parents then picked that hoodie and said it would look good on my brother and that he should try it on. He did, and seeing him wear that killed me on the inside. If I was luckier, I could have looked like that. Like a boy. With a deep voice and facial hair. But instead I got everything I never wanted. A female puberty. My parents then picked out a hoodie for me, cause I asked to go there in the first place. They picked a fuzzy pink jacket and I immediately refused. They asked me if I wanted anything else, from the GIRLS section. I was freaking out internally, almost in tears. I can't do anything about it. Every single thing that makes me feel masculine is something I took from my brother. It sucks to know that no one will ever see me as I am, a regular average teenage boy. Oh well

You *will* be recognised as an average teenage boy, and a man soon enough (more masculine at least!). You will eventually become the identity you want to be. I’m sorry that your parents don’t understand but at the end of the day they can’t fully control you forever- one day you’ll move out and start to live fully as yourself. That day will come 🥰 do you earn any pocket money or have a job? If you do, could you perhaps quietly buy more masculine things by yourself? Much love.

Hello, Jamie, and Happy New Year!💜 I really needed one of your videos today! I am one of those people who started to watch you because I considered myself an ally and ended up discovering at 33-years-old I'm actually part of the LGBTQ+ community. The last 2 years have been quite a ride for me: lost loved ones, struggled with major depression, toxic family dynamics and hellish job environments and unemployement, eventually found out I'm neurodivergent in a country where nd adults are practically left with no support, ASD in children is still hugely pathologized and stigmatized and finding a specialist who actually knows the topic and is willing to assess us is a calvary. Not to mention discovering being Queer while living in a country that still denies LGBTQ+ people basic equality and respect, coming from a bigoted small hamlet and an oppressing Catholic environment. I know the journey that awaits for me won't be an easy one but, after years of self-loathing and hurt, I've never felt more love, respect, compassion and acceptance for me and all the other human beings that are facing similar struggles. I know it will be worth it. And I'm so grateful to people like you for sharing your stories and giving to people like me the possibility to truly start to understand and value ourselves! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I wish you all the happiness in this world!🤗🌈 PS. I forgot to mention I have a huge crush on a trans guy who barely knows I exist, I hope in a less pandemic future to get a chance to meet him in person and who knows?

Unrelated but my own gender journey as been really confusing recently. I have thought I am demi girl but now i am wondering if i’m actually non-binary and am just used to answering to feminine terms because i was raised that way. Anyways, great video!!

Happy New year to you! 🎉🥳 My fav was the argument about the cookies as well lol, There should be a tee shirt with that! (If you haven't noticed by now, I have a tee shirt collection with LOTS of different sayings on it depending on my mood)

One big reason I’m making an extra effort to be nice to my younger brother is so that when my parents tell him being gay isn’t ok he’ll listen to me instead and know it is

AYO JAMIE!!!! IM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!! My best friends brother (who, for context, is transphobic) is in a group chat with them and our friends and we have a section where we put our name and pronouns in case anyone's confused. My pronouns are he/ it/ xe/ bun, and I'm a fem presenting afab. HFJZNDJDJDJKDKD YOU KNOW WHAT HE SAID?!?!?!?! HE ASKED ME HOW TO USE THEM PROPERLY!!!!!! BFNSJDJJDJZJBS

@@schokoloko2092 Ok, so they're xe/ xyr and bun/ bunself. And u use them like this: They went to the park by themself = Bun went to the park by bunself = Xe went to the park by xyrself There name is Vix = Buns name is Vix = Xyr name is Vix = Lots of people are confused by the nounself pronouns, and why people use them, but honestly, I don't know why 😅. It just feels right I guess. I hope this helped!

This video as well as all your videos (that I’ve watched) made me very happy. Also I don’t know why, but once I saw the color palette of your shirt my mind immediately went to Sesame Street.

Actual conversation had with trans friends sometime last year. 'So being apathetic/mildly offended to/by your secondary sexual characteristics isn't the default for all cis people?'....'O honey....' I turned 40 in November, well at least I won't have to fight the medical types to get all the initially issued parts removed....And yes I have been watching your videos for a good long time

The new lens is a winner fella, looks much nicer, crisper and the light also looks better (guessing different aperture). Nice job!

I feel number 2 so hard. I always knew I was bi, but I thought I was a cis ally forever until I started watching you and OT all the time and realized that I was enby. Ffs, I'd been using an egg as my logo for a decade! I chose it on purpose because I knew I felt incomplete and "unhatched" (as it were), but never knew it might have meaning in the LGBTQIA+ community. 😅

I used my film school degree 🎥 for the first time in a decade when I immediately noticed this video was sharper and had warmer colors than your previous videos (before you mentioned the lense) giving it a more intimate feel. Keep the new lens! And I used my new estrogen 🏳️‍⚧️ for the thousandth time today when I thought "yup, the sharper he is the hotter he looks." Not temperature-wise. Well, you're temperature anyway 😉

I love that response to the religious person saying you can't get married x) Will totally use that cookie thing in the future. Also that aggressively supportive mum deserves a massive hug! I know parents can be embarrassing sometimes but mate appreciate the effort she's trying so hard!
