Please please please continue reading it on youtube! This is so well written and your reading it aloud enhanced that. The way you got into character anf changed your voice/speech pattern for each character really made it feel like it was actually them.

Having not seen this show, all I can say anything about is the video itself. And it must either have been extremely well edited, or you did most of this in one take - which in my opinion is the way to do these types of videos. Some vloggers - who think themselves very pro and on the game for doing so - edits their videos so tight they edit out all pauses, so the end result sounds more like a robot voice on fast forward, than a speaking person. Some of them even extend a sound, where they in editing want to shorten a sentence, so the pitch will be the same both where the edited out part of the sentence started and stopped, so the shorter sentence after editing will pass as if it should have been spoken that way when recorded, and not edited at all. So thank you for making a video where you easily can be identified as a person, and is not possible to mistake for a robot. Your enthusiasm for the material, and your thoughts on the series it is based on, makes this worth listening to also for those of us who never have seen the show in question. For us, well me at least, there were too many inner monologues here, Riley and Daniel - and the others introduced through lines or action - would have worked better, in my opinion, cause there would have been more than just the various characters' subjective opinions about themselves and others. And also a lot less information to get an overview of. Some action and reaction would also have been more engaging than one inner monologue following the next. Those familiar with the series perhaps enjoyed all the various inner monologues, and were curious about how the various characters and their thoughts would be described. But to me it was just a lot of names and info, and I wondered how long it would be until something happened. Perhaps I would have felt different if the fanfic had been set around a show I knew? And the only show I know you from is Tiny Pretty Things. So if there should be - and provided you liked the material - I hope you will not restrict the fanfic reading to only this Next Step fanfic, but also include something based on Tiny Pretty Things too. For those missing Tiny Pretty Things, the Spanish series Elite on Netflix is a series - with the exception of the dancing - which have a similar education setting, young cast and many of the same themes to Tiny Pretty Things: relationships, crime, social class rivalry and prejudices, coming out and more. The raunchy series even includes boy + boy + girl threesomes - and in later series even 3 boys such. For a no nudity and more monogamous alternative the Swedish Netflix series Young Royals deals with many of the same topics - through the eyes of a Swedish prince and a boy he meets at his new school. Both series have a great cast, some of them extraordinary, of young actors bringing to life interesting characters that devolpes, and therefore feels real and genuine, so we as viewers care about what happens to them.

Thanks for the feedback! You’re right this fanfic is very “inside baseball” for the Next Step audience (the first tv series I was a lead on). I absolutely am thinking of reading a Tiny Pretty Things fanfic as well, maybe that’ll be next weeks video :)

@@brennanclost That would be great, cause I have to admit seeing your reactions to the characters in this video, and especially Daniel, makes me curious about how you would have reacted to other people`s versions of the Tiny Pretty Things cast. Also curious about what kind of storylines people would have come up with for the characters, dancers having so different faiths in life. Not every dancer has had your success. There are all kinds of faiths that strike people`s lives - either for good or bad. So it would have been interesting to see your reactions to how a viewer/fanfic writer saw the characters, and what he/she imagined happened to them after the tv series ended. I am especially curious about how Shane and Oren would be depicted. Is Oren gay, bi or just adventurous? Will Shane and Oren continue their friends with benefit relationship, even if they are seeing others? And will Shane be faced with someone from his rough family or neighborhood background in his new life as a dancer, and what would be the reaction? Also if people imagine Shane could be with his corporate guy date for an extended time, I am curious to know what people thoughts are around. But regardless what the writer`s views is, because the character of Shane with his guts, honesty, and don`t take any BS attitude - plus not the least his funny sarcasms - is such an easy character to like, any storyline involving him I would find interesting. So much so my imagination has started going. Here is a running pitch. The school has to close because of the trafficking scandal. Leaving Shane and the others with one year left, but no school to go to. Nabil and the other rich kids are saved by their parents contacts. Oren decides to try to audition for shows and music videos - giving himself 3 months, if not it is back to the his parents on the farm. But for Shane it is not that easy. Without the support of the scholarship and the room at the school, he needs to earn money fast, so he can get somewhere to live and support himself, until he finds a school that will have him. With no luck. In the end he has to take out a loan with a loan shark to avoid living on the streets. But the interest is staggering, and he gets increasingly more desperate to find something - anything to support himself. But all he can find is either low paid full time jobs which would prevent him from keeping up with his dancing, or jobs he is not qualified for. One early morning he comes out of his bedsit, two of the loan shark`s goons are waiting for him. They want the first installment. Shane tells them the deal was he should pay Friday - now it is Wednesday. The bigger goon tell him that if he hasn`t got the money today, he probably wont have them on Friday either - and that would be bad news for his kneecaps and future as a dancer. So he better hurry up and get those money - every penny of that first installment. This make Shane so afraid he sees no other way out than running home to his parents. They are not there, but his older brother is, and after having heard about the loan shark offers to get Shane the money. Shane just has to help him with something first. Relieved Shane accept - only to discover that his brother plans to use him as a cat burglar, and intend to keep watch when Shane invades homes and offices, after first having climbed up to the second floor from the outside and gotten in through the window. But the thought of the two days deadline for the payment to the loan shark motivates him, so he does what his brother asks him. After having sold the loot, they split the money, and Shane returns to the city, where he goes straight to the loan shark and pays back his loan in full. Terrified the money will not be there the next day, if he doesn`t. Without Shane noticing it, a car follows him at a distance when he leaves the loan shark`s office. The car slowly drives up alongside him, as he is walking on the sidewalk. The driver door window is lowered and Shane hears a voice say: "So that is why you did it, you had loan shark debt." Shane looks shocked, and wants to run, but the man in the car says: "Unless you want both yourself and your brother in jail - don`t try to run away. I am an investigator for an insurance company. You and your brother is of no interest to me, well your brother isn`t. Hop in!" Shane (alarmed): "What!?" Investigator: "Get into the car now!" Shane doesn`t want to - but he dare not run away, so what else can he do? He climbs in on the passenger side of the car. "You got guts. That is a good thing," the investigator says - and drives off. There is silence for a while, until Shane asks: "What do you want with me?" Investigator: "Test you." Shane looks suspicious at the man: "What do mean?" Investigator: "Relax, you have almost passed it now. I only need one more thing from you, and we`ve got a deal." Shane: "Deal?" The investigator laughs: "It is nothing sinister. All you have to do is to give me the name of the fence, and you and your brother will both remain free. But for that the items have to be retrieved. So if I were you, I would hurry up giving me the name, before the items are sold on. Dig?" Shane is hesitant. He realizes he doesn`t owe the fence anything, but he is also well aware how people from his background regard snitches. Almost as if the investigator read his mind, he says: "He will never find out it was you. I can guarantee you that - I know what I am doing." Something in Shane tells him he can trust the man on his word, and now that he has paid off his debt to the loan shark, he doesn`t want to be a criminal a second longer - so he gives up the name. "Very honest of you. Congratulations, you just passed the test." Shane is confused: "What do you mean?" The investigator shrugs his shoulders: "I knew the name - how do you think I found you so quickly. You and your brother were both caught on infrared CCTV. And from there we just followed your travel via CCTV and the signals from your phones." Shane: "If you knew everything, why all this?" The investigator stops the car and turns to Shane: "I wanted to test your honesty, cause I hoped to offer you a job. You see, people with your guts and skills set - provided they are honest - can apply those to better ventures than criminal ones. They can be very useful to catch criminals too - particularly when the job is to retrieve the loot, not primarily to catch the criminals. I can promise you a varied and exciting job, lots of independence, very high bonuses with successfully executed jobs, plus irregular hours giving you every opportunity to keep up with dancing or auditions. Interested?" Shane doesn`t even need to think: "Sounds perfect." That is one possible direction for Shane. The title of the episode could have been: "Opportunity knocks some sense into you"

You know it kinda reminds me of Queer as Folk in a way. The description of each character. It was a very very fun series filmed in Toronto back in the days (although it was to be taking place in Pittsburgh). They had so many F Bombs in it. If there ever is a sequel, you should be in it.
