    List of Changes: New drinking game: take a shot every time they mention Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything. Sorcerer: - Level 1: New feature Innate Sorcery. Spend a bonus action to go magically super saiyan. While this is active, your Spell save DC increases by 1 and you have advantage on attack rolls using sorcerer spells. I read a comment referring to this as “Mage Rage”. Beautiful, no notes. - You can also change 1 cantrip when you gain a level. - Level 2: Font of Magic returns granting Sorcery Points and Metamagic is now available at this level. All metamagics have been tuned (RIP Twinned Spell) and a few from Tasha’s have been brought over. - Level 5: Sorcerous Restoration allows you to gain Sorcery points back easier. - Level 7: Sorcery Incarnate lets you spend Sorcery Points to regain uses of Mage Rage. - Also at level 7, while Mage Rage is active, you can use 2 Metamagic options on a spell even they typically do not allow this. - Level 20: Arcane Apotheosis - While Mage Rage is active, you can use a Metamagic option for free. Damn, first Monks and now Sorcerers getting actually good capstones. Subclasses: Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul: - I an combining these because they were barely mentioned. - These are both from Tasha’s, they’ve basically been directly ported over and honestly that’s fine. These subclasses are both good. Draconic Bloodline: - 3rd Level we get an unarmored AC of 10+Dex+Charisma. - Also at 3rd level we get a spell list! Draconic Spells grant spells such as Dragon’s Breath and a 5th level spell called Summon Dragon (I think this is a reworked version of Summon Draconic Spirit but I am not sure). - Damage resistances no longer cost Sorcery Points - Your Draconic Wings feature grants a bigger fly speed. - Level 18: Dragon Companion allows you to cast your Summon Dragon spell without consuming a spell slot, without a material component, and without requiring concentration. This feels a bit underwhelming, IMO. I hope Summon Dragon upcasts cause that will at least justify this spell. Wild Magic: - Wild Magic is far less dm dependent. - Tides of Chaos is easier to regain. - Level 18 - You can automatically trigger a Wild Magic Surge and can choose the result with some limitations. - The Wild Magic Surge table has been redesigned with some new options. TLDR; it’s fine.

    I want to advocate for one thing that they did not talk about but that I would love to see is the ability to change Metamagic options on a long rest. 2014 Sorcerers only get access to 2 Metamagic options until 10th level. You could change your choice on a level up, but I think Sorcerers would benefit from more versatility in Metamagic. You could choose to bring more combat oriented metamagics like Careful Spell and Empowered Spell when you know a big battle is coming up and then the next day, you could take subtle spell and extended spell for use in stealth and social encounters.

    Wait! You're telling me they were willing to waive the concentration on this 5th level (I think) spell so that it worked with the subclass, but not on hunter's mark? Really?

    Fey wanderer has a concentration free summon Fey baked into it. Everyone tripping over HM apparently has never really played a ranger outside of gloom stalker and even then never played them to high level. The 2024 core class features builds into a free casting of the 4th level transmutation spell called guardian of nature which saves the precious spell slot for other BA spells that don’t use concentration like freedom of movement. Some call me a Ranger apologist but recently I played a lvl 15 Horizon Walker using Tasha’s rules and showcased what a ranger can do and people who would have never considered playing one was shocked at how steady my damage was, how tanky I was if I was hit, and how hard I was to hit since I could move into and out of melee with no AOO against me because of feats, features, and spell choices. I casted haste on myself after long strider, mobile feat, and war caster feat for the con saves. AC 23 and 110 move before BA misty step and distant strikes ports for flavor.

    ​@syvajarvi2289 I think most people (including myself) are now happy with the way the built the rangwr around hunters mark. An okish spell that takes up ur concentration and bonus action. A precious resource for almost any ranger subclass or build.

    @@jefferystafford9657 I agree. I had issues with it at first but after doing an analysis of the core class I liked what they did. It doesn’t hurt as much as most would think since the sub classes have damage boosts built into them, so damage can increase nicely if played correctly.

    I wanted to become a dragon, not get a buddy. Don't get me wrong the buddy is cool. I just wanted to become more draconic as I levelled. Get a wild shape into a dragon ability. That's all I want from this subclass but they refuse to give it.

    Def ask your DM if you can swap the dragon summon for a dragon transformation. Not sure how you'd have to shuffle concentration for a form you'd likely want to tank with, but no harm in trying.

    Is every class going to get an "evil" subclass variant in the DMG, the way Death Domain Cleric & Oathbreaker Paladin were in 2014? Seems like a natural fit for Necromancer, a conspicuous absence from the base Wizard subclasses.

    Just got to the end of your yapping section. I have been avoiding your RPG horror stories videos, because, like you said, they just aren't as fun. I have to be in the mood for them. However, I did think that the few videos of you I saw with your wife doing Wholesome or Uplifting RPG stories were amazing. Likely a lot harder to find and source those stories, but I think that is a superior energy to bring to the table, along with it being harder for viewers to find that sort of fun content.

    Sorcerer was my first DnD class and is still my favorite. Mage rage for save dc and spell attacks, plus extra metamagic... Loads of fun! Need to see the actual metamagic first though.

    My first was also sorcerer. I never used my sorcery points because I wanted to save them for when I really needed them, wiped my party with wild magic, and the campaign ended shortly thereafter for unrelated reasons for my sorcerer who wanted to use exclusively hand based spells.

    Ikr? The notable stuff is at a point where you will never reach. So its all one shots and epic campaigns. Also the dragon specs was just an upgrade to an existing ability. I just don't know what they are thinking with these high level abilities. I need that big stuff at 14 tops. That way you might get to actually use it sometimes.

    They just feel like they missed the mark with what sorcerer is. Sorcerer is about wielding personal power, magic in a way wizards and warlocks do not understand. Becoming something a big more than mere mortals. The superhero idea is OK but it seems like they didn't even play into that and I personally prefer sorcerers as a master of the arcane forced they embody.

    On one hand I really like that they are adding spell lists to each of the sorcerer classes. This will give each Sorcerer subclass a lot more identity. Honestly I don't even think the Sorcerer class needs their spells known bumped up from 15 to 22 anymore like it was in the UA. I also really like the idea of Sorcery Incarnate. In the last UA you're given 2 uses per long rest, and you can spend 2 sorcery points to reactivate it after that is more then fair considering the boost to your spell save DC and advantage on all spell attack rolls. I'm actually thinking this will make the Spirit Guardians + Shocking Grasp combo pretty fun on Divine Soul Sorcerer's when that is finally released. Another welcome improvement is the ability to regain Sorcery points back on a short rest. Hopefully they removed the condition on being out of points in order to regain any. Just make it a short rest recharge for 1/5 of your Sorcerer level's worth of Sorcery Points. On the down side, While I love the idea of a Sorcerer really taping into their source of power and being able to bring that out, I really hate to say that I'm going to miss the always on dragon wings, and since they are doing that to the Draconic Sorcerer, that means they're probably going to do the same to the Divine Soul Sorcerer when it's released down the line. I honestly kind of hope that they don't keep the ability to swap out spells from the expanded spell lists like the 2 subclasses could do in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. All and all, I think they did good work with this subclass, I am disappointed that the always on wings won't be around to stay.

    @@brilobox2 I meant in current 5e. Like that paladin might had been the most bs broken character i have ever played. invisible with blink spell and able to silvery barbs while not in same realm (blink). It was a god lowkey compared to rest of the party lol.

    @@brilobox2 it is even better now. You dip 1 level- it grants you medium armor and shield boosting your AC to 19, 2 spells from paladin list that you can swap on long rest (Bless, new op Searing Smite, Cure Wounds). You also get lay on hands that let you revive ally as a bonus action 5 times per long rest. And it wont effect your spell slot progression. For the whole meme build you can also dip 1 level in warlock for Agonizing Eldritch Blast and Armor of Agathys. Wont effect the spell progression too much either.

    It SOUNDS like that the 2024 "Summon Dragon" summons an actual Dragon, it's really funny when it feels like all the other summoming spells took after the original Fizban's version that "just" summons a spirit version. If it's the same as the OG spell I presume it scales with up-casting. So the basic version will basically be a young Dragon but at higher levels may be close to an adult Dragon, but I am not 100% sure.

    The fizband version casted at 9th level had half of cr9 young dragons hp, damage, and 0 abilities the real dragon had. And the free from concentration version is automatically casted at lovevest level- it is 5th. At 18th level 5th level dragon will die from one hit. And you just wate you super valuable 18th level caster turn on that dragon. Summon spells are really bad.

    If Summon Dragon is similar to Summon Draconic Spirit, then the dragon is a "Large Dragon" with a unique stat block that is outlined in the spell.

    The new Draconic sorcerer is a great buff. It fixed a lot of the problems with the 6th level ability mechanics and messiness and replaced the fear feature at 18th level with a much cooler summon that doesn't need to be concentrated on. These on top of the new draconic spells are amazing.

    It's still hilarious that the sorcerer in 3.5 was a machine gun in combat, and the WIZARD was the meta magic master. Even after the change to 5th ed I'm not sure I like the class as is. Also love the part where the interviewer slams the door on the wizo by correctly siteing the sorcerer from second addition.

    The 2024 Ranger is pretty good. It’s a step up from Tasha’s rules in many ways. I play rangers and ranger multi-classes with 3 dips in different classes like Bard, Monk, rogue, druid, and Paladin. The HM thing just gives me a free casting of guardians of nature once I’m high enough level to get advantage from using HM so I don’t have to waste a limited 4th lvl spell slot on casting it and I can cast something else that doesn’t take concentration like freedom of movement.

    ​@@syvajarvi2289 My first character was a Ranger-Rogue. At level 8, my character faced off solo against a CR 8 Chain Devil with doubled HP and Hasted. I wasn't even bloodied when I beat it. You want to know how bad the 2024 Ranger is? I would rather play a Warlock-Fighter multiclass. 3-6 Warlock, 17-14 Fighter. Use both classes to replicate everything a classless Ranger gets (such as 10' Blindsight or 60' Darkvision, a better Hex with benefits than 1d10 Hunter's Mark at level 20, etc). -- Ranger gets Extra Attack. Fighter gets x3, plus Action Surge. -- Fighting Styles and Weapon Masteries? HA! -- Roving? Take Mobile if you care, or 5 levels into Warlock for Fly. -- Expertise? Fighter gets extra ASIs, so take an Expertise if you want one. -- BA Invisibility. Warlock should get the Invisibility spell. I'm pretty sure 2024 Ranger won't get limitless BA Invisibility, meaning Warlock can use their invisibility more often due to spell slots and short rests. As for BA, take Metamagic Adept if you want, or use Action Surge on a casting. -- Advantage on Hunter's Mark targets? Hex can make Shoves easier, or cast Darkness with Devil's Sight/10' Blindsight to have not only advantage but give them disadvantage and be unable to target anything for a ranged spell. Or just have advantage at 13 in Fighter whenever you miss, and use your concentration on any other spell (including Hex). The only real thing Ranger does better is have more spell slots (this is assuming no Eldritch Knight; also, how many good Ranger spells are non-concentration?) and the ability to remove Exhaustion on a Short Rest. With all the above, why ever take Ranger? _Because the Ranger Subclasses have to be _*_even better_*_ than two subclasses combined._ -- You want a Misty Step Ranger subclass? Take Archfey Warlock. -- You want more damage on every attack? Port over the Djinn Warlock. -- You want a Ranger Companion? Take more Warlock for Summon spells, or be satisfied with Pact of the Chain. -- You want the Melee Ranger sublcass known as Hunter? Take almost any other Fighter Subclass instead, you'll only be really missing the ability to scan Weakness and Resistances. Mechanically, 2024 Ranger is a failure of a 2024 class. This is a copy-paste of Tasha's Ranger, but with a few features removed and the new capstone takes your unscaling 1d6 concentration spell and turning it into a 1d10. If this was given to us years ago as Tasha's Ranger, we would all love it. If we had this and Tasha's Ranger in 5e, I would likely pick Tasha's.

    I can't wait for the new books!! I'm excited in playing other classes and being confident that the class i pick is not going to be so weak that no one would want to play it. Never played a Ranger, interested in playing one. Never played a Monk before, interested in playing one. A Wild Magic Sorcerer is a subclass I'm waiting to play now. I can't wait for the new books.

    As someone that doesn't typically play with material components for spells because nobody ever wants to keep track and it feelsbadman for our casters when martial classes aren't limited that way, I feel like the summon dragon ability might be a bit more powerful than they're intending... Current dragon spirit version from fizbins needs an object with the image of a dragon engraved on it, worth at least 500 gp. I don't know if I've ever even seen that much gold in my games xD My group would just see 'fifth level spell, aight. Infinite dragonworks lets gooooo'

    Something I've been noticing. A lot of classes get things that "return X skill resource" on a short rest, feature. It feels like they decided that the class needed more "points" and didn't have enough new features to give a class. Ie Monks with Ki @ level (10? ). A lot of spell casters, regain spell slots, Why not just give them the Extra points outright, Ie double up on the resource. Resting to regain resources just feels lazy to me.

    Sorcerer seemed to be in a pretty good spot as it was; most changes just seemed to relieve some pain-points in the resource management side of it, since they have twice the resources to manage as Wizards (slots & points). Added buffs with the "rage" feature seem nice to keep up with the other classes. Still frustrating to see waiving concentration on spells given out to other classes, though. RIP Ranger, dead & buried 6 feet deep before the book even launches.

    Hot Take: Sorcerors shouldn't use spell slots. Only Sorcery Points used for both casting and metamagic, and it should recharge slowly every turn. Casting should be simple for the Sorceror... ...and by extension, new players. 1 SP (sorcery point) = 1 level 1 spell. 2 SP = one level 2 spell, etc. Adding a change to a spell should also cost 1SP. Adding multiple changes should cost more. Simple. Sorcerors should have the ability to recharge 1 sorcery point per round as a reaction, and an additional point if they use their rest feature on a bonus action. Sorcerors should also be able to take damage or exhaustion to cast or alter spells without points, since their power comes from within. Damaging spells would cause damage to the sorceror while non damaging spells would give the sorceror exaustion. Instead of powering up on a bonus action, Sorcerors should recharge SP faster for that turn. If they get a "sorceror rage" at all, it should be to remove the cap on Metamagic and SP for a bit and allow infinite spells at the cost of either HP or exhaustion, like they're draining their lifeforce to cast. I'd make the sorceror take 1D4 plus their spell casting modifier as force damage for every level of the spell they cast without points. Example: a sorceror with a spell mod of 3 casting a level 3 spell with no SP would make that sorceror take 3D4 + 9 damage. The damage or exhaustion could make the sorceror weaker for a while, and they can only go super caster like that once a day, unless they drop to zero while powered up, then it's 1D4 days. Additionally, the clockwork sorceror should have "gift of gab" at level 1 to stimulate timetravel... ... and the Draconic Sorceror should NOT be able to summon a dragon, stepping all over the drake warden, but instead BECOME a dragon. The one transformation that a druid would never have; even the druids that can transform into owlbears. And if you multiclassed into drake warden, you could be a dragon with a dragon buddy. Finally, something to replace the "me and my friends are all T Rexes" meta. Missed opportunity.

    Honestly, I never like the rules in dnd sorcerer & wizard. However, I do like the lore & believe it is accurate, but the rules are opposite. Sorc should know any number of spells through training & experience. While wizard should know the limited of spells, by studying & borrowing powers from any source. Sorc should be able to switch the spells & can switch back anytime. Similar to the rules of the wizard. Basically, sorc should have little restrictions, especially as they grow or level up. Bc of their innate abilities through blood line or being exposed by. Wizard shouldn’t have so many spells in their arsenal, mainly bc of how much powers they can draw from & how much they can memorized. Basically, wizard should have a lot of restrictions, bc they r not the natural spell caster like sorc. Everything about the sorc & wizard, (except the lore) are complete opposite. It like wotc are favoring the wizard class. Sorc are the master of magic, bc they draw powers from within themselves. They are magic. They draw powers from emotions & commands. They can see & feel magic around them & from within. They see magic as life & living energy. They r the source. Wizard are ppl who study & borrowed powers, similar to warlock. Except, they don’t make deal, they pretty much steal in a way. Wizard don’t have any experience in magic like sorc do. They just simply copy or artificially create magic (false or incomplete magic). They don’t see or feel magic. They see magic as scientific & energy as objects.

    Virtually EVERY SINGLE ART in this book is soooo nauseatingly woke, toothless and bland, I am happy as never before I supported DC20. God bless the Dungeon Coach for existing.

    1:40 Since when does "Sorcerer" make sense as being the most "superhero" class? Geezus, I sure hope Craford gets fired when a new President of WotC is picked... Cynthia Williams sure left it in a dumpster fire! Well... Interesting video... Sounds completely broken and overpowered and unbalanced, like the rest of 5E 2014 & 2024.

    Arcane Apotheosis should be a level 7 feature... Rip Ranger, Paladin and Sorcerer. Nothing exciting. No game goes to level 20 normally. The metamagics better be astonishing to make Sorcerers not boring to play... I HATE that tou can BE a sircere, but only for two times a day on average until you runnout of sorcery points or spell slots... Ugh... If Monk can alwaysbe a Monk, let Borcerers always be Sorcerers. Just make Sorcery points three times bigger pool. Metamagic is NOT that impressive to limit harshly. Utterly dissapointing as a Sorcerer player. Good thing I have good DM's who adjust the scale, despite the overestimation of metamagic by WotC.

    Draconic Sorcerer: Now a summoning class... Great shoehorning. Wild Magic: .... The level 18 feature should be available like at level 7, the actual end/middle game level.
