    "During the filming of Saruman's death scene, Peter Jackson gave a long list of instructions detailing the noise that he wanted Christopher Lee to make when he is stabbed in the back by Wormtongue (Brad Dourif). Lee took Jackson aside and asked him, "Have you any idea what kind of noise happens when somebody’s stabbed in the back? Because I do." Lee then made it clear that the noise that Jackson wanted Saruman to make as he died was impossible to make as all the air inside a person's lungs is driven out of their body when they are stabbed in the back. In the behind-the-scenes documentary of the Lord of the Rings production, Jackson stated that Lee then began to talk about one of his "clandestine" WWII operations, indicating that he indeed had firsthand knowledge of the kind of noise someone makes when they are stabbed in the back. During the war, Christopher Lee had served as a volunteer in the Finnish Army, before joining the British Royal Air Force as an Intelligence Officer. Jackson then allowed Lee to play the scene as he desired, making Saruman's death in Return of the King far more realistic." (Copied from "ScreenRant")

    And as the late great Mr Lee played Dracula in the Hammer Studios movies back in the 60s and 70s ( Peter Cushing was usually his Van Heilsing ), Peter Jackson couldn't resist having Lee's Saurman die on a giant steak. All of us who grew up watching all those Hammer horrors were laughing as we flinched!😜🧓🧛

    He does a great job of being thoroughly unlikeable! I always feel a little sorry for Denethor, his madness, brought on by the Palantir and Sauron is never really explained. He just looks weak, mad and capricious, and there was a bit more to it than that.

    Yes, there's a reason John Noble gets so many extreme closeups. However, he brings a great performance to a one-dimensional jerk. Tolkien's Denethor is a much more interesting character: a powerful and effective leader of men overcome by despair for the loss of his elder son. In the book, Denethor also had a palantir (like the seeing-stone that Saruman had). Denethor was strong enough to resist being taken over by Sauron's will (as happened to Saruman), but Sauron was able to choose what Denethor would see, and what he saw was an overwhelming force directed against Gondor. Remorse for sending Faramir out to certain death caused him to abandon all interest in defending his city, and Gandalf was forced to assume his role and direct the fight. It's a shame that Peter Jackson & Co. couldn't have stuck closer to Tolkien's story line.

    @@johnwalters1341 some things are harder to get over to a cinema audience. I have watched a lot of reactions and most think he is just a cowardly moron! Having read the books I knew the “truth” about Palantirs and Sauron’s will eating away at Denethor’s resolve and sanity. Probably would have added another 10 minutes of exposition, or very clever writing to explain what was going on. Shame though, because it is an interesting character story.

    In defense of Eowyn being all over Aragorn: she _did_ ask him what the necklace he wore was all about, and he answered that the woman it belonged to was sailing away to the Undying Lands with the rest of her people. Keep in mind too that Aragorn's last conversation with Arwen consisted of him breaking things off with her. Can we really blame Eowyn for shooting her shot when the guy was - to her knowledge - available? Wouldn't you? 😏

  • @johnwalters1341

    @johnwalters1341

    In the book, Aragorn says of Eowyn, "Few other griefs amid the ill chances of this world have more bitterness and shame for a man's heart than to behold the love of a lady so fair and brave that cannot be returned."

  • @blacktronlego
    @blacktronlego Жыл бұрын

    In the book, it much more important that Theoden does not kill Womtongue earlier, as Wormtongue throws the Palantir (crystal ball) at the party that come to talk to Saruman. Saruman also does not die here. They escape from Saruman's tower, but after months of cruelty at his hands, Wormtongue kills Saruman, cutting his throat. One thing that is not mad clear is that Denethor has his own Palantir through which he has been contending with Sauron for some time and it has driven him mad. So has gone from a poor father to a complete madman. 24:26 The Dwarves are busy fighting their own war against Sauron's forces, far away.

    Whew, those were some intense scenes! I'll say this much, if Pippin hadn't been too curious about the Palantir ball, then Gandalf would not have learned where the next point of attack will be especially when he mentioned about seeing a white tree that appears to be dead in the vision Sauron sent to Pippin, the same tree he saw when he entered Gondor, now the rest of the fellowship need to muster up enough men for army to fight against Sauron. Until next time.☮ and 💕

    Are you making the mistake of thinking Frodo is free to think and react as himself? The Ring is pressuring and manipulating him at all times - and more and more powerfully the close they get to Mr. Doom - and Gollum knows and uses this to poison his mind against Sam because he knows that Sam presents a formidable obstacle to Gollum's end goal of finally retrieving the Ring for himself.

  • @macariorodriguez630
    @macariorodriguez630 Жыл бұрын

    People don't give the ring enough credit. It has a part of the soul of the silver tongued trickster (still of immense power) who served the fallen Valar Morgoth, who is the origin of all evil. Literally. Because of this the ring has Sauron's skill in the art of reading one's mind, desires, insecurities and all and knows exactly how to get you. 99% of peeps will eventually kill even their own children to have it. Thats what makes it all so tragic when you see good people falling to its whims. Ultimately, unless you are of the gods that Gandalf serves you have ZERO chance of forever resisting it. Also last point, it can almost subconsciously manipulate things of dark hearts so thats why Frodo always seems to be targeted first.

    Yep.. @Dai.Natreacts were commenting they need an army of Dwarves to help. In fact, in the book, Gimli's homeland (the Lonely Mountain) was attacked and besieged by an army of Easterling men. The siege was only relieved when Sauron was defeated and the Easterlings were dismayed. The Dwarves and the Men from the Kingdom of Dale then rallied to break the siege. Legolas's homeland in Mirkwood meanwhile, was also being attacked by I believe armies from the Sauron fortress of Dol Guldur. His father King Thranduil was defending there (he figures prominently in the Hobbit trilogy prequel)

    Enjoying your reactions! In the book, the Stairs of Cirith Ungol are steep and difficult but not vertical; rather, they just go on for miles and miles. The Orcs of Minas Morgul send a party of 80 or more up the stairs behind Frodo and Sam; it's difficult to imagine a whole company of Orcs climbing the movie's stairs.

    Billy Boyd (Pippen wanted to sing a song in this movie so he took a song from the books and modified it slightly and came up with the tune himself and then went to Peter Jackson with the request. Without even hearing a performance of it Jackson agreed. They filmed the scene in a single take because Jackson could tell that it couldn't have been done better.

    Whoever edits does not let you two breathe when you take a sip of water LMAO. Also the edit with the thirsty music to the stone gargoyle with its tongue out had me dying. Also you were fascinated with the ugliness of that orc, the constant things you were commenting also had me dying. Loved the reaction as ever ! Also Im the resident Frodo defender - its not his fault! He does get kinda annoying but from his perspective Sam has been bullying smaegol (who frodo sees as an extension to himself) for ages when Smaegol's been helping them, and gollum made sure he was there for frodo above sam for a while, plus they have a bond Sam doesnt understand and rubbishes, so that plus the ring and exhaustion etc lets Frodo be misled unfortunately.

    "Hummanahummanahummana"😂😂😂 then the glasses girl meme cut perfect to "Gondor" threw me to orbit Lmao, had no clue it was coming either. & Dai's reaction to sauruman went from "yeah you both can get it" to "looks like i dont gotta do shit" then to "oh damn, i dont want no part of this, is this shit legal?" Lolllll.Glad y'all are doing a 3 pt. on this one. Am looking forward to 2 & 3 when they come out. Another dank ass reaction vid, keep surpassing expectations and making us all laugh with them comedy cuts XD. Fun fact: That ugly ass orc with the muffed face was made intentionally made to look like harvey weinstein. Also dropping my favorite short vid, hopefully it makes y'all laugh as hard as i did. Take care and until part 2 -Smithy of the shire. kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqBok9KbnrPbmMo.html&pp=ygUabW9tIG1hZGUgcGFuY2FrZXMgb3JpZ2luYWw%3D

    There is a pretty fantastic "Behind the Scenes" about the actor that played Saruman (Christopher Lee) being stabbed on top of the tower. Peter Jackson (director) tells a story about how he wanted him to scream when he was stabbed but apparently Lee told him (paraphrased) "A man doesn't scream if you sneak up on him and stab him. It's more of a gasp, like the breath is being forced out of you...". Jackson goes on to say, "I know that Lee was involved in the British Secret Service during WWII so I took his word for it, told him to do what he thought was most accurate, and never questioned him again." 😅🤣 It really is crazy to think what a lot of the men in this older generation have seen or done growing up in... more violent times.
