REACTING TO THE EUROVISION 2022 FINAL!

Ойын-сауық

Hi guys, and welcome back to another LUKEOVISION video!
In today's video I'm going to be showing you how mine and Mama Trish's evening went when watching the grand final of Eurovision 2022.
In this video you'll see Mama Trish's top 5, who we voted for and our reaction to (a couple of jury votes) and the televotes... wow, what a rollercoaster!
but above all, I want to know what you thought about the show! Was it all you expected? Were you disappointed? What happened to your faves?! SO MANY QUESTIONS SO LITTLE TIME!
I can't wait to get stuck into your comments!

I liked the song from France as for its sound, but it has some flaws for my tastes: basic vocality, a bit chaotic, there is no real singer, in fact the power of this song comes more from its instrumental part , moreover it is very synthesized made with a computer. But what made me decide not to vote for it, are the lyrics and the meaning of the song. I don't want to have anything to do with anything praising Satanic rites.

Congratulations to the UK and Spain, they made such a huge progress, from last places right to the top. I still think, people voted massively for Ukraine out of sentimental reason and compassion for their situation. I mean, it was a very good entry, but for me, definitely not the best of a strong ESC year. The biggest and unexpected surprise, France finishing second last! I mean, this entry deserved so much more! And many dear greetings to you and lovely mama Trish!!❤️

So here are my (long-winded) thoughts on the grand final of Eurovision this year. Overall a great show. It was really well made and so many songs were performed so well in the grand final. The hosting was amazing and the hosts had great chemistry. Up there with last year and 2016 for sure. The biggest improvement on me based on the stagings in the semis was Belgium 🇧🇪, the staging was quite lacklustre in the semis although the song itself was amazing enough to warrant a vote in the semi. In the grand final though he really showed why he qualified. The staging was so much more impactful and it was so much better, it was almost perfect in my opinion which was miles ahead of the semi performance. He had much more charisma and control of the stage which I was missing in the semi performance and when he did some choreography I was more than sold. I was left speechless and shook positively by the performance. It was robbed by the televote but at least the juries loved it! Loved it before and the final performance is so much better than the one in semi 2. My biggest overall grower though is Serbia 🇷🇸. Honestly the staging was a miss for me in the selection but in Eurovision although there were no changes made to the selection staging I liked it much more than last time. The staging was just so hypnotic and it drew me in. I did not vote for it but it definitely stood out (for the better) to me. Also Germany’s 🇩🇪 staging was good and he had loads of passion performing it. I loved it, it just supplied a different vibe compared to the other songs. Also love how it was done in one-take, a really refreshing vibe. Honestly there were no massive disappointments for me in terms of stagings because I honestly felt impressed by loads of them. I also love that the UK 🇬🇧 did so well although I did not vote for it was great. I am so glad they got a great result in both the televote and the juries. It put the stupid rumour that “The UK 🇬🇧 never does well because of politics or whatever” to rest which is great for Birtish people. It deserved the love. And so did Spain 🇪🇸. I really liked both songs though. I was also shook that Switzerland 🇨🇭 got last in the televote with no points. I loved the performance and song and it was done dirty by the televote. I voted for it because the song was amazing and so was the performance. At least the juries loved him. Fun fact he actually has an Aussie passport. I am also glad that Germany 🇩🇪 got points from the televote for once. Honestly if anything I was expecting Germany 🇩🇪 to score with the juries and not with the televote. I was shook by many of the results. France 🇫🇷 and Czech Republic 🇨🇿 were the biggest shockers. My dad and I voted for Czechia 🇨🇿 and I voted for France 🇫🇷. They were robbed and they should have gotten more imo. Czechia getting destroyed by the running order and France being overshadowed by Ukraine 🇺🇦 are my best guesses for why they did so poorly. I voted for Estonia 🇪🇪, Ukraine 🇺🇦, Sweden 🇸🇪, Italy 🇮🇹 and Norway 🇳🇴 too and I am glad they did well in the televote and got on the left side of the scoreboard. I am also glad Romania 🇷🇴 made it to the final (for once) and scored 58 points in the televote, they deserved it and my mum actually voted for it and the performance was really good, the song has grown on me a little, the performance was so good and WRS is so cute to me. Australia 🇦🇺 and Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 and although they did not deserve their results I was expecting a lacklustre result and they got it, although I love both the songs and I voted for Azerbaijan 🇦🇿. Actually considering that they got nil pointe in the televote in the semi so it unexpected that they even scored points from the televote in the grand final compared to their semi-final 2 result in the televote. But it was still saddening for me. Honestly I was not expecting loads for Belgium 🇧🇪, Azerbaijan 🇦🇿, Australia 🇦🇺, Germany 🇩🇪 and Switzerland 🇨🇭(who I all voted for) in the first place not getting loads watching it but on retrospect there were just so many ballads that it was just so hard for them to stand out compared to other more upbeat songs. They did not deserve the hammering at all imo. And also as with Czech Republic 🇨🇿 we were destroyed by the running order because we were sandwiches right in between Sweden and The UK 🇬🇧 which were two massive fan favourites as seen in the results so I was not expecting us to get loads, but we did not deserve just 2 at all from the whole televote. Moldova 🇲🇩 was good too and their result was honestly very surprising. They deserved it though ngl. The performance was memorable and the song was quirky, catchy and ethnic which is something the televoters tend to respond in droves to. I wanted Sweden 🇸🇪 it win as it was my third place and I thought they would win. Ukraine 🇺🇦 deserved the love though. I am so happy that Ukraine 🇺🇦 won. The song really stood out and regardless of politics it is a worthy winner nonetheless. It is honestly really ignorant that people say they won just because of politics although that did play a role in the massive margin of votes between them and The UK 🇬🇧 (2nd place) but you cannot fully blame it on politics since it was an amazing song. And also btw, are you going to show her the non-qualifiers because she did not hear many of them yet and many of them are good. Hope you have a good rest of your week. Love your vids. Always look forward to them. See you next time.

Listening to your mom tell them to hurry up reminds me of my mom and sister doing that. This was their first year watching Eurovision and my niece’s second year. My mom and sister were curious about it because of watching the American Song Contest (which did the points during the grand final the same way Eurovision does it except instead of going state by state the states were grouped into regions so there were 10 regional juries, but they had spokespersons for each region standing in front of backgrounds of a major city skyline in the region talking and giving the 12 points; the audience votes were done the same way except instead having to go through 25 songs there were only 10, though they certainly knew how to draw it out like Eurovision does!). They enjoyed it, but they definitely got impatient as we got closer towards having all the points given and were shouting at the tv for them to hurry up or to get on with it whenever they were silent and the intense music was playing. Here in the US our commentator was two-time Olympian Johnny Weir. He mostly just did commentary during the post cards between songs giving info about the song, artist, and the nation’s record in the contest. He also did commentary in a studio whenever there were “breaks” in the show (like whenever the hosts were telling you all the rules to vote and then opening up the voting lines we didn’t see that and instead went to the studio where he basically explained to the US audience what was happening and what was coming up). During the both voting segments he provided no commentary either so it was just what was being broadcast from the EBU. He came back in studio (in a corner box like during the post cards) after the winner’s performance ended while the end credits finished, the Moraccanoil ad occurred, and the ident sign off played and then it went full screen to the studio where he briefly recapped the show and thanked everyone for watching. He was actually a great commentator since he’s a Eurovision fan so he was able to explain things for the audience, especially those Americans watching for the first time, so they could follow along. I’ll admit to being a tad jealous that they got that since 2016-2018 LOGO was where it was broadcast and while they had commentators they only spoke to tell us about the artists and songs during the post cards and spoke to let us know that in the US we didn’t vote, otherwise they were silent. 2019 was on Netflix and was just the EBU broadcast itself, likewise 2021 was on NBC’s Peacock streaming service with just the EBU broadcast. So it was neat that NBC actually made an effort this year. Love the hat and shirt! 2nd place is really great for the UK! Doesn’t the UK have a record of having the most 2nd place wins? I think I remember reading or hearing that somewhere prior to this year’s contest when someone was discussing the history of the contest. It was a good song and Sam’s performance was amazing! In fact, I like the live performance much better than the studio version! He’s got such an amazing voice! Thanks for sharing your reactions! I’ll attribute the laughter to it being so late there and the situation was very intense and suspenseful! It was only nearly 6pm (18:00) where I live when I was watching it live. I certainly have had similar moments when it’s really late.

So much going on in that finale-sorry for the long text 🤣: 1) happy for Ukraine. I liked the song a lot. And I don’t mind them winning. The Eurovision is for coming together and standing together. And Europe wanted to show that they stand together for Ukraine. So it’s a valid win for me. 2) at the same time I shed a tear for Sam Ryder. I wanted him to win so much. He might have won if the circumstances weren’t as they are. His performance and vocals were amazing, definitely worth a victory. And he’s such a humble, genuine, happy person. I loved how he just smiled so wholesome when they announced the winner. Like he was just genuinely happy for them too. He can be proud of what he achieved. 3) shocking moments: Czech Republic being forgotten by the public, France not being appreciated, Australia not being appreciated by the public a bit more, Switzerland being massively overhyped by the jury (others might say underrated by public), Moldova being second in televote (pleasant shocker, but still a shocker), Norway not ranking, Greece not getting more televote (not my favorite either, but I predicted more for them), Azerbaijan and Switzerland qualifying with no or barely any points from the public. 4) I want the voting system to change already. It’s not about jury/televote, but about the points. The current 12 point system just shows a valid ranking for the upper part of ranking. But it doesn’t show how the actual order in the lower part. E.g. Germany wasn’t last place in many individual rankings in 2021 and 2021. the songs just didn’t get into the Top 10s. If we would have points from 25 to 1, the ranking would be much more adequate overall. 5) although I liked 2021 more, it was overall a great ESC again, with diverse songs, great vocals, fun songs and talented artists. Can’t wait for next year. 6) And of course it was great to follow all the reaction videos, rankings, covers etc. especially from you Luke, but also SchlagerLucas and others. I hope we get to see Trish again a bit more. Best wishes to her and to you (and of course Rocky 🐕).

Hi Luke White! Hopefully you could go on and react to old Eurovision Song Contest from the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's. Like maybe top ten countries from random years, or just do some reations from Eurovision Song Contests from years when your mother was around your age. If so then you should do it together with your mother , you and her are a dynamic duo!

Love to see what score each country had without the bogus EBU intervention. Ukraine would be ~72points lower (UK, Sweden, Spain, etc gave Ukraine 0 points, and so did other countries ..but EBU forced them (replaced their vote) to give Ukraine 12 points). Poland would be much higher, Sweden and UK a little lower, etc. But what I'd love more is for Eurovision to stop being a contest, and just a show where people can vote to express love for songs, without making a score / top out of it. At least people should stop taking the scores/rankings seriously (at least ignore the bogus jury score) and just enjoy the music. Its impossible for this show to be apolitical, even in the case of public voting. So.. lets return to the good old days when it was common knowledge that Eurovision voting is political, and enjoy the performances.

I thought it was a great song in years the judges gave us that vote because of that but also i think only reason we got that high is just as Ukraine had won was because of the invasion in Ukraine, U.k and America are the two main countries that really supported Ukraine with ground ammunition and other help that was greatly needed which if it wasn’t there Ukraine army would not be a stronger army and weaken the Russian attack when the invasion started. And Europe have given us the vote because of that. I think if it was any other year we might not of gotten that high. If Sam is chosen again next year with another song then we will see.

You know you can be happy about Sam without undermining Ukraine's victory? Sure many people voted out of solidarity, but saing it's a solely political vote is ridiculous, if the song was bad nobody would vote for it anyway. KZread reactions to Stefania pre-contest prove exactly that. Big cheers to UK for this amazin result and hopefully you guys will be sending strong songs from now on.
