Passed away long time ago one of his visits was here in South Africa kzn Stanger. He made people cry when he read. The best there will ever be. Used to train his lungs in I swimming pool sitting at the bottom for long periods of time under water. Top reciters don't drink cold water and they don't like air condition because it affects their voice and breath taken in. May Allah grant him Jannah InshAllah

This man and his voice is the God gift to all human beings.

He died on Wednesday, November 30, 1988 AD, and his funeral was national and official at the local and international levels. A large gathering of people attended the funeral, including ambassadors of the world on behalf of their peoples, kings and heads of state, in appreciation of his role in the field of advocacy in all its forms.

Sheikh Abdul Basit began his radio journey in the rehab of the Noble Qur’an since 1952 AD, and invitations came to him from various parts of the world in the month of Ramadan and others. And some invitations were sent to him not to celebrate a specific occasion, but the invitation was to attend the state that sent him to hold a party without an occasion. He added an atmosphere of joy and happiness to the place he was staying in. This is shown by the peoples of the world receiving him officially at the leadership, governmental and popular levels. The Pakistani President greeted him at the airport and shook hands with him as he got off the plane. In Jakarta, Indonesia, he recited the Noble Qur’an in its largest mosques, so the mosque’s sides were filled with attendees, and the council extended outside the mosque for an area of ​​approximately one square kilometer, and the square opposite the mosque was filled with more than a quarter of a million Muslims listening to it standing on foot until dawn. In South Africa, when officials learned of his arrival, they sent a media team of press, radio and television men to conduct interviews with him and to know his opinion on whether there was racial discrimination or not from his point of view. Who responded to them with all tact and ended the meeting with awareness and diplomacy that added to the people of the Qur’an infinite gains that imposed their respect on everyone. It was the first visit of Sheikh Abdul Basit outside Egypt after joining the radio in 1952, during which he visited Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj with his father. The Saudis considered this visit prepared by God, as it is an opportunity that must be reaped the fruits, so they asked him to record several recordings of the Kingdom to be broadcast via radio waves. Sheikh Abdul Basit did not hesitate and recorded several recitations for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the most famous of which were recorded in the Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. (A title after that, the voice of Mecca). This was not the last time he visited Saudi Arabia. Rather, the visits varied between official invitations, missions and visits to the Hajj. Among the countries that he visited India to commemorate a major religious celebration held by a rich Muslim there, Sheikh Abdul Basit was surprised by all those present. With this humble attitude. Sheikh Abdul Basit was not limited in his travels to Arab and Islamic countries only, but also toured the world east and west, north and south, to reach Muslims anywhere in the vast land of God. Likewise, the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron in Palestine, the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus and the most famous mosques in Asia and Africa, the United States, France, London, India, Iraq and most countries of the world. An official or unofficial newspaper was not devoid of pictures and comments showing that it is a legend worthy of appreciation and respect.

He was an egyptian reciter Egyptians are specialists in this type of recitations because this is a different type of recitation and he was one of a kind nick named the golden throat people used to go crazy listening to his voice , my father loved him so much always listening to him while driving and there are others like menshawy who recited that way but everyone had a different style and tones of voice most of these great reciters are dead now may ALLAH reward them all , thank you for reacting to this great video brought a lot of memories to me , may ALLAH bless you and us all and grant us jannah

Sheikh Abdul baset died from about twenty years ago. Congratulations to be brother and sister in Islam ,I hope you found piece and I pray to Allah bless you.

This kind of reciting is called Qiraat and the people who recites this way are called QAARi. Recitating like this is also called " tagweed " and this is one of the style of reciting the Quran. He is the King of recitors and even passed away due to a vein deformity because of his long breaths.

Not true he died due to a liver disease . His long breaths were a normal thing for him one of his gifts that he had a large lung capacity.
