Black people also often get generalized to a specific type of music (like rap and r&b) implying that's the only type of music black people have offered to the medium. So I do think that it's important to acknowledge that black people are the trailblazers of all things music.

He was a huge fan of her E.P. and gave it a 10/10. He was expecting a similar pop sound but disappointed the experimental aspect of Sawayama. He's a fan anyways.

To me, SAWAYAMA was not a perfect album per se, just a couple of flaws but I disagree with the guy who denoted that the album was completely incohesive when she very clearly put a transition on much of the song's beginning, such as from the end of the chosen family to beginning of snakeskin for example. Despite the stark difference in overall song genre and sound, it wasn't just calm soothing vocals, then striking ecstatic pop but instead, there's a transition that gets you ready for the change. I respect people's opinions but 5.5 is a stupid rating on any basis!

Honestly, Amanda is the reason why I stan you in the first place. I`m so happy you included her in your reaction video, she`s awesome! Also, I think that the genre mix is what makes your album so special because you did it so well, they work so well together. And because of that, I think it`s actually cohesive. All songs explore a certain topic and the topics blend very well with the genres. And as an English major, I strongly believe that the mix of personal topics and political topics in such a cohesive way is what makes any novel, poem, film, and album for that matter, a work of art. The mix gives depth and colour to the album. It elevates it. And I love your boldness in combining such different genres, it was definitely worth the risk. I honestly don`t know what that guy was expecting from your album, but personally I would have been disappointed if the album wouldn`t have been the way it is now. So keep listening to your gut, that never fails you.

This album was the first album in literally over a decade that I can recall where I was completely captivated and every song had a place, a place that resonated deep with me while some were just pure joy to listen to. Let me preface this and put how much emphasis on the fact that this woman deserves SOOOOOOOOO much more attention than what’s been given. Truly remarkable in the craft and in her own lane. A little something new and a little something old, I love it I love it I love it!

I learned about your album from Amanda. I went to listen to it myself halfway through the video and I was slayeeeed. I didn't stop listening it to 2 weeks straight. I'm sorry but not really.

8:00 Rina's eclectic approach to genre means that every track won't be everyone's cup of tea. You might love "Chosen Family" but hate "STFU." But without her bold genre blending and experimentation we wouldn't have gotten a track like "XS," which is a song *NO ONE* else could have made!

I became a fan immediately after hearing STFU and then XS!!! Sawayama has been one of the few albums I been listening to repeatedly from beginning to end lately. I loved almost every song from first listen. I’m really happy I discovered your music especially during this dark ass time

Exactly it's showing different sides of herself cause people aren't one dimensional they have many sides so I like albums that have different genres.

Cyber Stockholm Syndrome was my first introduction to you and it was through Melon. I listened to the EP and shared it quite a bit. I was super excited for it. Fast forward to Cherry dropping. That song is an all time favorite and it was in many a leap from the EP. It was so much louder and really fucking grand in every single way! Hearing your voice so front and clear gave me everything I needed. It over shadowed everything that preceded it for me. So I had such high hopes for this album tbh. Girl... I was not disappointed AT ALL!!! STFU came out around the time Poppy and Grimes were flirting with Metal and I was SO FUCKING HYPE to think that you would go into a more rock direction!!! Then Comme Des Garçons (my fav) came out and every gay cell in my body was partying and spamming the fuck out of it (still do). I shared it with EVERYBODY!! I love how you love when people notice the vocals because that was the thing that brought me in officially as a Rina fan since Cherry! And Paradisin' and "Who's Gonna Save You Now?" are super underrated. The whole album is amazing ♥️♥️♥️

I was honestly amazed when I first heard the album. Everyone was raving about it on twitter so i sat down, gave it a shot and was not dissapointed. A week later i bought meet and greet tickets for your upcoming show in my city

My first thoughts when I listened SAWAYAMA for the very first time were: hmmmm hello? Am I still alive? Or is it just a dream? Cuz these went beyond my expectations

The first time I listened to the album I basically died. I was so obsessed with every song and it deserves to be listened to by everyone on the planet periodt.

Amanda is the reason I listened to the album. She has such good taste in music, and she was right yet again. I love your album!

How am I only just discovering Rina Sawayama. Spent the last 5 hours listening to her music and watching her blogs. Her album is CRAZY, FIRE, NUTS, PAINFUL, EMOTIONAL. Bad Friend and Chosen Family made me cry and then Like The Boys and XS made me wanna be a stripper! The range!

I’ve been a fan of A LOT of artists but never in my life have I fallen in love with someone’s music as fast as I have with yours. My gf first recommended your new album to me a few days after it was released and I was blown away. Dynasty just is a total masterpiece of an opener and is most likely my favourite song ever. All the songs work so well together and I’ve never heard something remotely like this. Also RINA (not sure if it’s an album but I’m gonna call it one anyways) is PERFECTION as well not a single song on there can be skipped!! Css is my favourite and kind of reminds me of dynasty in a way. I just can’t thank you enough for making such amazing music and I love you!!

I listened to this album a couple of days ago and since then I've been obsessed with it and with other songs on her discography (cherry is one of my favs). It became one of my favorite albums of all time in such a short time!

I love the genre play. My brother and I have been calling it "petal." For pop metal. Or "popal" because it's more pop 😂 I love it all!!! Amandabb put me on!!!
