Reacting to Pat McAfee "Taking a Flamethrower" to ESPN Exec. He Called a "Rat"| Dan Le Batard Show

Спорт

Jemele Hill joins the show to react to Pat McAfee calling out ESPN executive Norby Williamson on air for trying to "sabotage" The Pat McAfee Show after his shows recent controversy with Aaron Rodgers. Jemele details why she tweeted that she relates to McAfee's comments, and her firsthand experience at ESPN. Then Dan and the crew discuss more of it after hearing Pat's response on ESPN touting his "strong" relationship with the Worldwide leader. Following that we look at the College Football playoff and why the country is most likely rooting for Washington tonight.

    Pat brought his already set up platform to ESPN, he still owns his show, he has eay more leverage than any other show hosts and he knows it, if they cut his show he can get another big sponsorship deal and go back to running everything himself

    Toxic organizations promote toxic people. It's clear with Pat, Dan, and Jemele all speaking to it that Norby is a huge problem at ESPN but, being a toxic organization, they clearly empower Norby to do pretty much what he wants.

  • @Matt-cr4vv
    @Matt-cr4vv4 ай бұрын

    This entire thing is why I love Pat. He only made his move to ESPN after they basically conceded to him everything he wanted. And he openly stated prior to the move that the primary motivation of even doing it was to lessen his work load since a bunch of the backend work he normally had to do when he was on his own would be handled by ESPN and free up a lot of time for him. But it’s dope to see somebody land what Pat did where he can operate freely rather than bending his knee since he has zero reliance to being on ESPN. I’m sure he’d prefer to stay on the network and continue the lower work load but it’s been cool seeing him stay true to himself and doing what he wants. But I’m not sure it will really benefit anybody else because he’s an anomaly that was well established on his own and has no reliance to the network while all the normal folk will still be beholden to the network as in normal practice. All in all it’s fun to see but it’s largely just an example of how the world has always worked and that being that the big names who are established out side of the network itself and have a readily available pivot to something else if they left the network have always been able to and continue to be able to get away with a bunch of things that normal people can’t. And it may do harm to something independent making a jump since it’ll further entrench the network not wanting to let anybody get control like this again. But who knows will be fun to see things play out

I used to consume a lot of ESPN content back in college, highly questionable, numbers don't lie, sportsnation, the jump, etc. because these shows were so unique and packed with talent, making them different from typical argument sports television. Nowadays in the rare instance I tune into ESPN for non-live sports content, all I see is the same 5-6 people being on repeat 24/7, i.e. Stephen A. Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Pat McAfee, Mike Greenberg, Ryan Clark, and Kendrick godawful Perkins and its just like why tf do I have to see these same people all day everyday saying the same things they've been saying the day before smh. I was a huge fan of the Dan Lebatard show on ESPN. It sounds like Pat McAfee is going to bat for shows like this….. Pat is almost at Joe Rogan level, possibly already there

    I love Jamel I love Dan and Stu Gots. But let’s face fax. All of them are bitter exes of ESPN, and this whole Pat McAfee thing reeks of what they had gone through and why they were let go from ESPN and now they see the new people going through what they went through. I don’t blame them at all for talking about these shows.

    McAfee has every right to call out this executive. Espn's ratings has been sliding and they are losing money. Williamson's method does not work and if he continues to lead Espn's programming, Disney may be forced to sell off the brand. This dinosaur needs to go. Good on Pat to show leverage
