Geoff just casually ends this with a subharmonic E1. He's actually expanded his range since this was released.

yep this video is quite old he's been working on it for years, even at the time this video was made he had low note videos where he talked about learning how to low growl from Tim from Home Free, Geoff hadn't seen that technique before. After years of practice he said he still wasn't great at it, but years after this video he was a lot better and could do lower notes than this E1 he did here.

the bass riff at 2:06 was actually artificial subharmonics produced by double tracking geoff at 2 different octaves and layering them

You are one of the few reactors that noticed Earl "breaking" J's neck. That part always makes me giggle

Yes, you were correct that Geoff double tracked for the recording, doing the lead and the bass line. When they did it live in concert, J.None would cover the bass line.

I always love the faces of reactors on that last note (and he has 5 octave range btw )

Being a broad ranged bass (having a 4 octave range), I am still always blown away at Geoff's abilities. It's not that he has the range -- many bass singers do have broader than normal ranges -- it's his timbre across them that blows my mind.

Agreed! It’s not enough to just hit those notes, but the tone and delivery… Geoff does it so well! 🤩

Actually that was 4 octaves and he has hit a C1 before. He has increased his range and if officially 5 octaves now.

It's probably some sort of blue/green mouthguards it's probably safer, easier and cheaper than LEDs in the mouth. They have unlimited post processing control over the effect and they demonstrated professional quality visual effects productions in many videos.

My mans can go way higher than a B4, at least an octave, he hit an A5 when showing off in a video and said he didn't want to try higher so as not to strain his voice too much. His lowest chest note is F#1, so slightly higher than the E1 in the video, but holy shit are his chest F#1s and G1s impressive. His lowest subharmonic recorded in a Voiceplay song was an A0, which is literally the leftmost key on a grand piano. Neither a bass guitar nor a contrabass can produce that sound, even a 5-string bass doesn't go that low. His lowest vocal fry that actually sounded like a distinguishable note was like a C#0, but he can probably go lower, losing more and more grit as he descends

Try listening to Misty Mountains Cold by Peter Hollens and Tim Foust (with headphones and about 75% volume) It's all done with the human voice. If you have watched The Hobbit you'll reckonise the song. You wont regret listening to it. 😁👍🍻
