Manson makes great music. Most people just look at him and say "no thanks" but he writes really catchy songs and I love his voice. His music is actually really relatable. People literally just don't give him a chance because of how he looks. Or they're afraid of getting stigmatized for liking his music... Worried what their friends and neighbors might think. It's ridiculous, and I think he forces people to see that, if they just took a few minutes to actually listen to his songs.

this is very true. i had my Marilyn Manson book sitting on the counter at work and a customer pointed to it and said “yk i never listened to him before because he looks scary but once i tried and listened to his lyrics, i actually really like his music. a lot of his lyrics are very good. he’s still hard to look at though” i completely disagree bcs i think Manson is hot and i like his look but i can see why people are turned off by his appearance

This entire album (Mechanical Animals) is a concept album and is the middle story in the triptych (his three albums Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, and Holywood) He takes on two characters in this album and this song is the finale of the “Alpha” storyline. It’s a character based more on himself and is a character who is learning more about himself and feeling emotion for the first time ever in its existence. He looks at humans and realize they are so devoid of emotion and are “Mechanical Animals” and “Coma White” is an entity or being or even a feeling that may make us feel whole again, but no one really knows if it is real or not in the concept of the album.

I love that you can go another layer with it's reference, and a way reaction to Ziggy Stardust in a modern for 1998 context.

Deeply underappreciated album and has long been one of my favorite Manson albums.

@@tattoodude8946it’s funny because he lost a ton of fans when he brought out this Album because it was such a departure from his previous work. One of his most hated albums but in my opinion one of his best.

did you know that you can re arrange the letters in the title to make : MARILYN MANSON IS AN ALCHEMICAL MAN. There are numerous alchemy references throughout the triptych

Man please do some more of his music, there are barely any reactions to anything but his singles, and you genuinely listen to the music, this is a dream combo for me lol.

Yeah, you definetly gotta do more. The album Mechanical Animals from which this song is from tells the story of two of Manson's alter egos and was mainly inspired by the Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust.

My fave artist of all time. I def recommend you check more of Manson out!! I’d suggest a few more popular ones w videos first before you go deeper into his album tracks: -I Don’t Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me) -mOBSCENE -No Reflection -Tourniquet -The Fight Song ALSO PLS MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS EXPLICIT NOT CLEAN. The clean versions ruin the songs lol

I would also add "Dope Hat" to the mix, to give a taste of where they started.

So great that there's open mindedness about Manson's situation and respect for due process. Seems like things are shifting. All allegations should be taken seriously by authorities and investigated & everyone is innocent until proven guilty. People who report sexual assault to the media rather than authorities are dubious imo

See one of Marilyn Manson's greatest hits, "The Beautiful People". The video as well as the music, the words are extraordinary and come from the album Antichrist Superstar, which brought this band and Manson himself to the top.

He has a very in depth description of this era and particularly this song, what inspired it, and how it culminated in this video concept, etc. in the book Long Hard Road Out Of Hell. A fascinating read of the insanity of touring and excess.

For me I believe this is song about the perspective of Marilyn Monroe and her “involvement” with Kennedy and feeling of being thrown away and dealing with her inner demons she was battling… just my perspective tho

The very raspy voice is due to the fact that he destroyed his vocal cords with improper singing techniques - basically he screamed through so many concerts (often due to being under the influence) that his voice is shot. But that does not mean it's bad! A skilled vocalist can still sing through that. Leonard Cohen was an amazing singer/songwriter/poet whose voice was decimated by years of smoking and boozing, but even in his later years, he sounded amazing. And Tom Waits made a career out of it! 🤣
