Pausing only really gets annoying when it's for the sake of pausing. When you fill the pauses with such great insights and your own experiences, it's just awesome! Pause as much as you want to my friend. And feel free to back up an go over some parts again to get that lead back in to where you paused. I can't believe it was only just over a year ago that I discovered this band myself. You are in for one helluva ride - and I'll be watching all of it. Subscribed. :-)

I agree with this comment 100%. Pausing for insight (especially when you have the musical knowledge and experience) is always welcome to me. I'm limited in my musical knowledge but do understand vocals and drums. This group is one of the tightest bands I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. I've loved every song I've ever heard from them. From old to new. The different influences, not just other band influences but other styles is unreal and how they seem to seamlessly transition from one style to another is unreal. Live or music video you can't really go wrong with Jinjer.

Yeah, pausing when there is something interesting to say is always fine. If we wanted to hear the original song, we can google it ourselves. Some reactors just pause a lot even though they don't have anything to say just because they are scummily trying to avoid KZread content ID that would make them have to give revenue to the artist whose song they're using. I stop watching those reactors pretty quickly. If you take the time to share insight and analysis (i.e. actual criticism and review), then pause as much as you want.

2:00 - Encore? Nah, less known bands playing in a secondary stage of a big festival at 11AM don't get to play encores. ; ) Plus, this wasn't supposed to be their last song but some technical issues delayed the start of their show and they had to remove some songs from the setlist to meet the schedule. 2:24 - That's the playback of the studio version's intro. They use some studio tracks live (intros, noises and vocal harmonies) to make the songs sound as close as possible to the versions people are used to listen to. Those tracks are launched by Vlad from his laptop, which also has a metronome to help him keep in time so that the tracks sync perfectly with what they're playing. 2:32 - You're right, Vlad's toms are on the floor on his right: he uses a regular floor tom and a normal "front" tom in a floor mount. And if you pay attention to his playing, it looks like his hands are all over the place but it's just the way he plays: left-handed (or open-handed, as some call it) and right-footed. His right hand is the main snare hand, however he also uses his left hand on the snare a lot, especially on blast beats. 7:35 - The vocal harmonies you heard here were added in post, they weren't used in the live performance. 8:54 - If you go back to the calmer part, you can hear that Roman uses an octaver in this song (and probably some chorus), in this case one octave higher. As a guitarist you probably know that it makes the guitar fill a lot of space. : ) Sorry for the long comment but that's how I am sometimes. Keep up the good work. : )

4:30 - Regarding the weather. When Jinjer played that day around 11 AM it was the calm before the storm. The air literally stood still and had a somewhat hollow acoustic quality to it. Two hours later the festival had to be interrupted due to a severe weather warning. Fortunately the festival grounds were only grazed by the storm, but about 20 km north there was heavy rain with flooded cellars and roads.

It doesn't hurt that they pull in so much from so many different styles. Their most recent album has a goddamn reggae metal song. I didn't even know that worked, but.. they did it. The King of Everything album ends with straight up bossa nova jazz. These guys are all over the goddamn place. There's bound to be something for everyone.

When i first found out about Jinjer about five or six years ago, it was with a song called "Outlander." It was the studio recording synched up with live performance footage. Back then they had two guitarists. When one left, i was worried that they wouldn't have the same huge sound. My worries were unfounded. Also! Notice how out of breath Tatiana is at the very end when she says her thank-yous. She has such great control that she didn't let on how tired she was for a single second of the performance.

One of the most astonishing aspects to this performance is that it was 11.30am as Jinjer were the first band on stage that day! Also I saw in an interview that Eugene switched from a 4-string to a 5-string when their second guitarist left, so that he could fill the sound out a bit more.

From what Tama has on their website, Vlad’s kit has no toms (except for the floor tom). Instead, he’s using a 6”x13” snare, paired with a 6.5”x10” snare, and from the sound of it he keeps the 10” snare disengaged, giving it a tom-like sound with a little nicer tone. He’s quickly becoming one of my favorite drummers in metal, and Eugene is certainly my favorite bassist.

Truly special band! So much talent in every single member! Dive in because the sheer quality of the vocals, lyrics, intrumentals and overall execution and composition of their music will suprise and hypnotize you. Heavy progressive metal but with dips of hard core rock, jazz (like Pisces), reaggae, ska, rap, you name it. All beatifully crafted and put together....and live they are even better. I suggest "Who´s Gonna Be The One" live and "Judgement & Punishsment" live in Melbourne and the amazing "Teacher, Teacher" official video. Saw your two Jinjer reactions and loved your insigths....and how the hell you are gonna reacto to a song without pausing it? Of course you gotta pause it! Keep up the Jinejr train!

Now for something completely different in the old suggestion box. The classic song Unchained Melody, by the Righteous Brothers live 1965 on the Andy Williams Show. Bobby Hatfield at his best in this performance is my all time favorite live solo performance. Its still melting hearts 56 years later and like Pisces gets strong emotional responses and praise. If you want another one where you can see both Hatfield and Bill Medley harmonize their very different voices their hit "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" the Dec. 1964 monster hit that was the most played song on American radio in the 20th Century is very powerful.

  • @omega1231
    @omega12314 жыл бұрын

The trick to playing one guitar in a heavy band is thinking like both a rythm guitarist AND a lead guitarist, threat it almost like jazz where the melody is often played with chords. I also find that it's a great way to get weird sounding chords that fit really well with the melody, because the chords are build around the melody instead of the melody being build on the chords. Fantastic mind tricks are abundant in music. Although as a bassist, the fullness as we all now comes from the fat end. Eugene is a great bassist aswell.

All 4 of them are excellent at what they do.... but I feel Roman doesn't get the love he deserves for the job he does on geetar. During the more chill movements, I love the way he tends to use interesting chord voicings to create a soundscape, where you might otherwise expect perhaps some keyboard work from a fifth member, & lets Eugene tap-slide a melody (since he's remarkably capable that way!) instead of the normal way of doing things. Works a *treat* imho. :)

Yes I know, it's too much, but well, that's love ;D

So glad to have jinjer reaction from musician/knowledgable person. getting sick of those so called vocal coach or random person showing pieces for the shock value. Also do you think that the bass is often very much part of the melody in their songs because they are only 3 musicians.

Glad you're wenjoying them and Great question. I think that's definitely part of it, but you could also argue that his skillset is so high, that a lot of what he does fills the gap or a rhythm piece, while still being able to double up lead work.

Having watched a fair few Jinjer live performances, Tati's major bete noire at fests is her earwig flying out... but in ear monitors are pretty much a pain for everyone with a sweat gland.

Who is gonna be the one - Live is another amazing performance. The live version of Judgement & Punishment. Retrospection is a good banger too. Have fun falling down the rabbit hole!

oh wow the context about 'open air' performances and why it promotes the use of mic-cupping is a biiig thing i never considered before. you always see people shitting on mic-cuppers but w0w thats the first time i have heard of a justification for it that actually makes sense - performance wise. and then that takes me to the area of musical taste after that... like the cupping may provide different resonances (and other stuff) that could be used 'intentionally'. never considered these perspectives before, thats a biig factor keep up the solid vids almost always learn something from your reactions, which is saying ALOT considering the rest of the field.... take care

Just gonna say it harsh and bluntly: fuck the idiots complaining about your pausing. The first and biggest issue is if you just play the song with no pauses, you pretty much are guaranteed demonization. Second, you don’t watch a reaction to simply enjoy what is being watched. Uh, you watch it for the reaction of the person watching the video. I’m so tired of idiots. You rock, brother. Do your thing. 🤘🏻

Obviously this is a couple month old video, but I wanna reinforce some other comments I've seen here. I'm learning so much from what you say during your pauses, if I just wanted to hear the song I'd listen to it (which I do almost daily anyway). But I hope you stick with your methods, one of the few reaction type channels I look forward to watching.
