Reacting To Cheating Drama, Blink Mid-Animation & Beads In SMITE 2!

A lot of people have asked for my thoughts on these topics and I didn't think it warranted a full main-channel video so here it is!

    Beads is a band aid fix and smite 2 is the time to fix the CC problem. Don't believe the ability to blink during an animation is worth all the problem of bugs and balancing that will come with it. But the alpha is a good time to test it.

    The Fafnir looked like a lag switch, the camera wasn't just spazzing, he was physically moving through space. Maybe his ping was dog water, but that's not just high sensitivity.

    Blinking makes sense. Blinking while chaneling an ability just doesnt make any sense to me and looks stupid but cool you got a cheeky clip 😂

    That camera is snapping around instantly and then staying completely 100% still, that is really fucking weird. I feel like if it was just high dpi it's be jittering around after the fact, not just snapping instantaneously and then completely still then snapping again. If his dpi is actually that high that he's snapping like that then that's just stupid.

    So this to me is super simple. Blinking while channeling will be super exploitable on certain characters and worthless on others thus making a meta where characters who cant abuse channel blink will be inherently worse. This is probably the dumbest thing ive heard the community argue over when in smite 1 regular combat blink was so broken they removed it and now we are considering combat blink that can also orbital drop ymir as a nuke. Bro.

    No blink during abilities no skill imo just looks cool and is "fun" to blow up randoms for clips but as a competitive game thats bad imo

    While blinking mid animation may be funny it is also far to strong. Lets just say you are playing rama and ymir walks up to you, dash is up and he starts ulting. He knows you have dash up and ults directly on you, now you run away and dash out of range, cool you are safe but then next second you are dead. All because by allowing mid animation combat blink you have effectively doubled ymirs ult range by allowing him to reposition a fully charged ult. This also means anubis ult has much further range, achilles assaination blink doubling his range, amatarasu ult (probably not game breaking), bacasura ult comping and blinking after you jump away, BAKA WHALE BULLSHIT ULT WITH BLINK , chiron would be kinda cool, cthulhu ult blinks, guan yu and hachi riding and blinking, HADES ULT literally can escape, kuzenbo ult blink sounds buggy, sobek already moves but id be harder to escape, vamana big baby blinking when you jump away, xian tain spin and blink(sounds funny). And thats just for ultimates, who knows what other stuff could be broken.

    Fineokay is on point, youre making a new game, fix the CC issue its like theyre saying "oh we know that CC sucks, here's the band-aid fix for it" in any other mobas CC immunity items exist and they are optional and not used in every match, now try to find a match in smite 1 where no player is running beads...

    I like the idea of being able to blink while channelling. Maybe lock it to the abilities that let you move during it but I can see it being used for some fun plays.

    Regardless how you feel about beads/blink, Hirez should take this opportunity to change gods before putting them in SMITE 2. They are doing it a little already but more significant changes would be great as well. Its supposed to be a new game and they have said Unreal 5 is making things a lot easier.

    I think the blink while channeling would be fun in a lot of instances but i think over all it would be less enjoyable because there would be plenty of gods that could abuse it be put higher in the meta compared to gods that cant and i feel like it would be hard to balance.

    23:15 to 23:45 I love FineOkay's thoughts on Ares ulti and making it more skillful and rewarding at the same time. The idea that you only pull in targets that you've essentially selected with your 1 is bonkers to me and I love it.

    I like FineOkay's idea for Ares ult in Smite 2 of turning it into what could almost be described as a stim for Shackles. Having it function only on people hit by his chains is great for building on his identity. His strength, outside of No Escape, is locking down targets via the chains and buffing his allies that converge on the chained gods while pouring out a lot of damage over time with both the chains and fire. Making his ult upgrade the chains with a pull and reduced cooldown for the ability down to zero downtime if played optimally would be a great change to match his style and make getting up close with Ares a scarier prospect as he could easily double how long you are pinned down and prevented from jumping away. It also gets rid of one of the most egregious examples of CC in Smite 1. As it is now, Ares ult - assuming it even gets past the various CC immunities in Smite 1 - is an at-will pull/stun on everyone nearby often paired with a blink so the targets couldn't even try to avoid it (and Assault shows just how ridiculous both his ult's CC can be and how anti-climactic Smite's various CC immunities make it).

    I think to make practical his ult could be a AoE where he roots and does slow just like in his 1 and stun at the end, but if you were under the effect of his 1 while he channels the ult you're then pulled indepent if you were in the AoE area, making ares not lose too much of it's identity while making more fair and skilled based, cause there's nothing less fun than playing around a level 5 ares

    I really do hope they keep that blink mid-animation. Its really fun and would be morefun when combat-blinkt is the starter active instead of beads :) Now u have a fun game.

    Blink while channeling is fine, blink while channeling an ability that locks your movement doesnt. Ymir ult, Anubis ult, etc. have powerful abilities that are built around restricting your abilities to chase with them and are balanced around it. Thor ult, Da Ji ult, Mulan Ult, these abilities are designed around locking yourself in specific locations even temporarily to modify interactions. So yes, blink during channels is fun, but giving movement to abilities that are supposed to not have movement is going to create problematic edge cases.

    To be fair all the big mobas have the feature (mlbb, LoL, dota etc). It just depends on how they execute it.

    I think the issue with blinking mid animation would be weird use cases that would have to break rules. Daji ult would have to tp the pillar.

    I think a simple rule for the blink during animation is cant blink with cc immune (most ults) abilities, leaps, or being banished obviously. This will be a simple rule to implement and understand, and wont be hard for the devs. Yes some of the ones people like, like blinking during ares or ymir will be out of the game, but we need these gane standard rules.

    If it is pretty much required for every character, there is a problem. If everyone has to take Beads, either make it a cooldown for everyone, or remove it from the game.

    They shouldn't have in animation blink but if were getting rid of a bunch of CC. You could greatly reduce the charge time on abilities like Ymir and Chaac ult since they wouldn't have the CC they have currently.

    I watched Coach Sharks's review of the whole VOD for the "cheating" clip and basically you'll see Malachi's mouse has the most ridiculously stupid DPI/sensitivity. Makes it look sus that one millisecond, but more often than not seemed like a detriment.

    I think there should be like 5 relics that you can start with but they are lesser versions of relics. Like blink would be current smite blink aegis could be like old aegis and you'll be rooted. I think beads needs to be in the game but you should have other options and I wish they'd be high cdr and lesser version of existing actives.

    They only case for the blink issue being too broken is fenrir, blinking during the ult is fine, but I don't think you should be able to blink while holding an enemy the enemy shouldnt travel with you

    what if they just remove cc immunity from ults to allow combat blink to exist with it also having a way to punish/play around cc'ing someone out of that ult. some exception are apparent like freya, ares, chaac, (ect) who kinda are in the air when ulting. i feel like being able to get cc'd out of your ult would be a way to balance it. (pred does something similar to this)

    I see where you're coming from with the removal of cc from ults but this would ruin the mechanics of each god and would be unbalanced, just imagine anubis starts to ult and then someone silences or stuns him, it would be a waste of a 3s ult.

    @blurrymemes8490 That would limit builds for many gods an absurd amount, this would be bad both competitively and for casual players. Always being required to buy an active item on nearly every single god just to make it so your ultimate doesn’t get completely nullified the entire match by kumbhakarna simply existing in said match would make the game pretty annoying and would limit playmaking ability too.

    16:20 Why don't we talk more about this? Nothing is told to the new player. Its worst on console cause unlike pc we can not hover over the buff inco to see its effect. I get jungle who wont clear the mask camp. They do spd and red and never touch mask camp i guess thinking its for solo to do since solo starts at it. And when i tell them they dont even know what the masks do. Same for camp values. No one knows mid camps are worth more and my jgs constantly ignoring them which if im mid puts me behind cause i cant safely contest them 1v2 .. Fg, gf varieties, bull demon, shield buff totem. Literally 90% on ppl in casual conquest do not understand what they do.

    The only way I found out about these various arcane changes they make is when a friend told me or I happened to check the patch notes the same day that my xbox updated Smite. I don't know how many seasons it was before I learned this, but for the longest time, I just assumed purple buff still functioned in the same way it did back in season 5.

    Battle blink for me is way to fuck some characters even more, gods with low mobility will be in worse spot like Nuwa because she will stun someone and use 1 to escape and it can work against jumps but with blink it's get so much harder

    I’m doubting that Fafnir clip, even with extremely high dps a camera would still rotate especially in slow motion, this is teleporting to players and flicking at them. Watching rainbow 6 hacker replays and cheating in Tarkov enough, you can definitely get the idea that this is a flick from an external software or lag switching. I’ve seen one other cheater recently in smite that was playing hunter that flicked exactly like this. Not sure where the software is coming from but it’s out there Edit: it was actually Rexsi spectating an AMC with the aim hack and I believe Weak3n encountered one in season 7. That Fannie flick is definitely external software

    That's a HELL of a dps for sure, I play Halo with a 80 to 90 mouse sensitivity cuz I am accustomed to it but for smite I prefer it a little bit lower. Also I can believe people still think cheat engine works onlime hahaha how cute.

    I don't like blink as beads as the relic. This means every character has a movement ability, taking away some of the risk and reward of those characters.

    I haven't seriously played smite since 2014. Used to be my favorite moba. But I eventually just fell away playing other games. By the time I came back to Smite in like 2019 there were SO MANY gods and with all the other changes I was so lost I just gave up. My question is will Smite 2 reduce the roster a bit? I expect that would be hard to do and would upset all the people who like the cut gods, but I feel like it would go a long way in reducing the intimidation of new and returning players

    League of Legend's high skill ceiling comes from executing combos with blink. We need this feature aswell in Smite 2. Compensation we can do for Combat Blink is that you're not allowed to Combat Blink in animation, but rather allow blink when you're damaging or getting damaged which is currently disabled in Smite 1. ( you can't blink for 3 seconds if you received or dealt damage )

    Honestly I think the beads should be replaced with a seventh item slot and the reduce all ccs globally by 20-30%. You could increase gold generation too to accommodate for seven items

    I do have a problem supporting Pro-Players when it comes to balance discussions. The issue is they are always looking at ways to give themselves the edge and that isn't always the best for the game. Remember back when Supports needed a leg up and had some extra gold spooling on their starter items but every role in Pro-Play was buying the items because 'free gold', it ruined the game for a while and more so for Supports because they lost a way to keep up. I can't trust someone's judgement when their intention is for them to have a better game not to have a better game as a whole.

    In regards to the mid-animation blink, I think a general rule could be that if you can move during the channel, you can blink. So fenrir would still be able to blink during his ult, but Ymir wouldn't. I also really don't like everyone having beads. It takes zero skill to use beads. I think that a different relic, or no relic at all should be given at the start of the game. Beads should be on an active item that has horrendous stats.

    Played cod on the highest sensitivity using a controller. Once your eyes get used to it, it becomes easier. Adderall really helped 2. 😂

    It's not a big change though to make it the same as literally. Every other moba on the planet you just do straight up Combat blink it can be used in any situation it can be used While receiving damage while dealing damage or while channeling ability, this is what the majority of Moba players coming to smite from any other moba, will be used to already. It is only an adjustment for people who only place my and who have never played any other Moba. Which I guarantee you is minority

    Just gunna say it's a small step from cheating in single player then cheating in online multi-player, if you're willing to cheat in a solo game to better yourself it ain't that far off to say you'd cheat online to be better than others just my opinion

    Imo it's a massive step going from a single-player RPG when you cheating only affects your experience to doing it in a multiplayer competitive game where you affect others' experiences negatively. I've cheated in offline RPGs like Skyrim or Pokemon ROM hacks before for my own convenience or curiosity, but I have never and will never cheat in an online multiplayer game where it affects others. It's a very different thing imo. One is immoral, the other isn't.

    love you inter but that guy is 100% cheating and im surprised you cant see that. your playing a video at 0.5 speed and hes instantly flicking around in multiple directions in nano seconds and even if his dpi was 8000 you cant control that with a sensitivity of even 1. this is blatant cheating if you cant see that I don't know what to tell you.

    I mean yeah but like, when he was flicking I didn’t see it even track onto anything. in the first 8 “flicks”, 4/8 flicks aren’t even tracking a god. I’m playing devils advocate here tbh, it looks so wonky if it isn’t cheats. I’m rlly not sure

    He doesn't even look at anyone directly the entire time. He would also be tracking/snapping through walls. Also its been shown in other cheater exposed videos aimbots track players through CC. So his camera would've been moving tracking other players moving when Athena taunted him. His camera didn't track the players next to the Athena.

    Both item arguments are fucking dumb. The argument that beads is a problem is stupid. We are in a game where we already have the freedom to do so. A squishy not building it is outright dumb for not doing so in the majority of games in smite 1. Arguing it somehow "is not noob friendly" because people go aegis instead because they are new or whatever is not an argument against beads, but aegis. If anything, that only means it is better in smite 2, because you cant not build it. New players and noobs will always have it, they cant just get the wrong option anymore and play even worse than they will already. Nor is beads a get out of jail free card. If you jump someone and make them beads, you win. Thats your victory. They do not have their defensive option for a long while now, since you cant even upgrade it to have a shorter cooldown anymore. Beads is an investment to use, and you will be out of the fight, or punished for a while every time. If the pros suck that much at capitalizing off of their advantages they gain from them using beads, then thats embarassing. Not to mention the implications for anyone NOT having beads in a CC heavy game. "Just remove the CC/fix it" would requite a lot of character reworking and it did horrible in other games who tried the same thing. Just let em build the gods the way they do, and let beads be what it always has been. The blink argument was the most embrassing thing for supposed professionals I heard yet. "Counterplay"? You are incompitent enough as a professional to waste the tools you have that they can counterplay you with that? The only way you can counter a properly used blink ult from ymir and chaak like that, would be to blink yourself. And that would create a meta where EVERYONE has to buy it, no questions asked. And that only fixes it for gods with movility if they are fast enough. If you just ymir ult and try to blink on someone that way, obviously they can anticipate and dodge it. You walk up to them, force them to use their movility to get away and then blink to cut compensate? Thats not something you can counter if done properly. Only made worse once some characters, like Hades with his ult, come to the game. Fix it, get rid of it for good. No question there. It doesnt increase a skill ceiling, it lowers it. Since you can just compensate for your misplays mid ult as well and it is not difficult to utilize otherwise.
