This is laughable. How many times over the years were Arsenal by far the better team in matches against United and they'd somehow end up losing? Countless of times. We were told to "get over it", "only thing that matters is the scoreline", etc. Not once did these clowns give credit to Arsenal.

You are joking right. ESPN FC are by far the most Anti United sports channel. When United won 4-0 under ole a few times they were critical. The fact that they are also agreeing United had one of the better games says it all. Maybe arsenal fans won't agree, but the score line flatters them today. United were good for almost 40 mins even ESPN can't deny that.

@@agabaire How is that a matter? Neuer was arguably Bayern's best player in his prime, he saved them in a lot of games, nothing wrong with it. This team has been playing trash for most of the season, but not today and as everyone will agree, they were better in parts of the game and could have won if the decisions rightfully went their way. Man U fans can feel cheated by the ref, which unfortunately is the truth. Also, it isn't their problem if Arsenal players were injured, or if Maguire was on the bench. It comes down to the game and Arsenal won the game and got 3 points but Man U can feel unlucky to lose.

The thing is, individually except for the midfield and the fullback to an extent are good or excellent players but the collective isn't there. I mean what's the point of beating 11 different people in a game where you're supposed to beat another team with your team? This is not a team right now so anybody could win against United right now but that doesn't mean all the players individually are poor than the teams beating them. Waiting for the new season.

Arsenal and Man U have been two sides of the same coin this year especially. Arsenal finally admitted they needed to rebuild and leave the memory of Wenger behind. They haven’t been Invincible in 20 years. They were expected to be battling for anywhere between 8-5th place. Man U has been holding on to being Man U for so long their fans still expect top 4. Some Arsenal fans have some of the same thoughts. I’ve had to argue with “this club’s history means we HAVE to have CL aspirations every year”… but we weren’t really ready for that even in the end days of Wenger. Even now the squad will need plenty of additions to stay in top 4 and compete in the CL, but where Arsenal excepted they aren’t really fit to compete for the Title or CL, Man U has kept thinking they are one or two pieces away. Through Arteta’s work and the team buying in, (for the most part), Arsenal have looked like they’re trending back upwards.

I guess arsenal didn't factor into this game, according to these gentlemen. United weren't good or just unfairly treated by the ref... go figure!

The beautiful thing about football(depending on who you ask lol) is the team that “deserves” to win statistically doesn’t always win. Football is a sport of small margins, one mistake and you lose. One clear chance missed and you either miss the chance to equalise or draw. There’s no way to calculate who will win a game and who won’t…especially in the premier league where on their best day all teams can go toe to toe with each other. United were not focused enough and did not take advantage of their opportunities like Arsenal did. For example, Arsenal statistically should have won (heck at least drawn) against a Brighton and Southampton but each had key chances they took advantage of

Man Utd isn't far behind. Players are there to be finishing higher than Arsenal. Why do I say that? Because Man Utd could have still won the game. 2-3 decisions went against them. They hit the post, bar 2 times apart from Bruno's penalty. And going in a bad moment like Man Utd is and still creating 5-6 good opportunities at an away game at Arsenal it shows you quite a bit. I am not referring to only this game as it easily could have been a win for Man Utd too but in general Man Utd has got better players than Arsenal. And if Arsenal is fighting for top 4 clearly Man Utd has more rights to think they have better chances of getting into top 4 . Regardless... Man Utd has got many more problems than Arsenal that's for sure. 1- Arsenal has been an off team for nearly 20 years. So expectations are lowered quite a bit in relation to Man Utd. 2- Arsenal has had (apart from Unai Emery) name wise very average coaches while Man Utd has had 2-3 top coaches and ofc expectations of winning are bigger at Man Utd. Players bought from Man Utd (name wise) raise the expectations more than the ones bought from Arsenal . Money spent is also another big factor in raising the expectations etc. Regardless this Arsenal team gets the top 4 simply because the coach is better. If Guardiola, Klopp was at Utd they'd (just) probably be in the hunt for titles...

Even under a good coach they can at most expect to get back into top 4. These 2 clubs have better squad, better managers and better owners. So that's a huge difference.

After some objectively wrong decisions, however, including the 3rd goal, they lost motivation and it was only then Arsenal regained control.

Besides, Arsenal didn’t lose motivation when Bruno wasn’t sent off for an obvious red card so the argument about poor refeering decisions breaking their spirits make no sense. If United did have a period of pressure in the game then Arsenal should be acknowledging for weathering it as well. Nonsense punditry from the people who tipped Arsenal to finish eight or worse this season.

I’d like to consider myself as an objective Arsenal fan and my perspective is that both sides were lucky and this was a game of 0 defence, the winner of this game would be determined by whichever teams offence clicked best and the fastest. United had PLENTY of chances due to our poor defending; Elanga had a 1 on 1 that could have easily been a goal, Dalot had a 1 on 1 that was brilliantly saved by Ramsdale, Ronaldo got himself in good areas, Bruno had a gimme penalty. Had United converted their chances similarly we’re looking at maybe a 3-3/4-4 draw or maybe United wins by 1 goal. Were we lucky? Yes. Were they lucky? Yes. Difference is we capitalised on our luck and they didn’t but both sides today were lucky and played atrocious defence

How was United lucky in this game? Dalot had two chances where he nearly scored, the first one hitting the cross bar which Ramsdale wouldn't have reached anywhere near. Considering how many times Arsenal was helped by the ref, this would have clearly been a win for United.

There’s no way they’re saying Elanga’s and Saka’s penalty situations were the same. Tavares had his arm on Elanga’s shoulder and Elanga literally went down AFTER Tavares already let go. Man utd literally just announced a new manager; Ronaldo's tough time; They're coming off the back of a drubbing vs liverpool; they literally fielded arguably their strongest team (bar pogba) as opposed to arsenal who had 5 first teamers missing coupled with the fact that they played a tough game at Stamford Bridge during the week as well. So it would've been expected that arsenal would've been under the cosh at times, but with grit, persistence, patience and a positive attitude, arsenal were able to excel in crucial moments in the match. The match stats does not lie. Arsenal had more of the ball, more touches in the opposition's box and a higher xg. If you even watched the game objectively, you'd have noticed that it was a fantastic game of end to end football at times, but Arsenal were efficient!

If that Xhaka goal is disallowed, it's a penalty for Arsenal. But way before that, Bruno should have seen red. I don't see how he escapes. But the pundits say nothing of these things.

Arsenal took advantage of United's weaknesses and won. The penalty is irrelevant. Fernandes missed and Xhaka smashed it in the back of the net and killed any hopes of them getting back in the game. You can also arggue United should have had a red card..... Whatever narrative you want to spin it's all hypothetical. The facts are United lost. Arsenal were comfortable winners in the end, we were strolling in the last 20 minutes no pressure at all.

"Had this happened" is more referring to "This should have happened" in this particular scenario. They are commenting on what were some bad decisions made in the game. Arsenal won the game, have 3 points and are UCL qualification favourites, nothing being said changes that. But you have to accept the decisions played a role in the ultimate result. Fun Fact: Xhaka's goal was also offside btw. They wouldn't have been strolling without that either, never mind the other decisions

His mentality/attitude spread into that dressing room like a toxic seed (lingard, rashford etc). Young players, that received ridiculous sums of money at such a young age, whilst deluding themselves into thinking "they've made it" whilst not achieving anything remotely worthwhile. Lukaku? Lol... Dude's an EPL flop through and through. Schweinsteiger was already past it when he arrived (same for Sanchez). I have a feeling that one of the things Ronaldo thinks about when he kicks penalties is his children. That would explain why he rejected to kick it. He was the best player on the pitch. He was involved in everything and he scored a great goal and also scored a difficult one that was offside. So I think the thought process that he uses when he kicks penalties would have been too emotional for him. This is the 2nd time Bruno has kicked a penalty instead of Ronaldo and has fucked it up. He has cost United the points that would make the difference for 4th place. What an atrocious season Bruno has had.

The whole point is that given how bad they were the whole season, they played really well in this game in parts of the game and that some egregious decisions ultimately resulted in Man U perhaps not getting what they deserve. Chelsea are the same team that lost 4-2 at home to this team and drew to this Man U at home as well, if I remember correctly. They are also the team that got kicked out of the UCL by a "worse" RMA team.

Don't forget that the second position was a farce Liverpool had major injuries and Chelsea had lampard ...besides united were 12 points behind. If you watched a lot of the games united were so lucky on many occasions getting favorable pen decisions and pure moments from individual players these are what won them games they were never playing good football in fact they struggled against teams who sat back. As for man city win any team that plays on counter with city high line has a good chance of winning I means Spurs beat city twice as well
