I actually DO really hate romances in books because more often than not 1. That's ALL the story becomes about and forget about the fact that they're held captive by cannibalistic pirates, but hey at least we know how much she loves the way his eyes sparkle in the moonlight. 2. They make dumb as hell and unrealistic decisions for the person they love that puts them in avoidable situations even though they just met 5 pages ago aka "insta idiot", a byproduct of insta love

I think one of the main issues with Celaena’s character is the intent behind it. Theoretically, a character that is a brash, impulsive, egotistical assassin would be a fun character to read - if those flaws were acknowledged and they impacted her relationships with other characters. Instead, those characterizations were just thrown out there but don’t impact the plot in any way. You can take away those traits and everything would still happen the same way, meaning that Celaena was written that way ‘just because’ and it shows. I feel like it is bad writing of a potentially interesting and multi-faceted character, and it also doesn’t help that the ‘heroes’ and ‘villains’ read pretty much the same way. It’s just sub-par writing 🤷🏻‍♀️

1000% I like unlikable characters but she wasn't written that way. I don't like the idea that we have to read 10 books for a character to grow since plenty of other books are able to show some within one book... There was potential but it was a frustrating read!

she had a ton of development though. after the 3rd book is when the series really starts getting good, but it's certainly not my favorite book series of all time. it definitely has it's flaws, but it's decent.

I worked at a Canadian bookstore during the launch of the cursed child and talked to customers that night and in the weeks after (kids and adults) and most people said well... the writing wasn't that great or the story was just ok but it was just nice to be back in the world of Harry Potter and that that factor made the book "great"

Here is my 2% about When Dimple meet Rishi . It's promoted for it's diversity and how people should read it because of it's representation of Indian-American and as if this book is kind of revolutionary or new in the literary world . Here is a thing , have these people heard of Jhumpa Lahiri ? The Pulitzer winning Indian-American author who writes about Indian-Americans . So if you're so interested in reading an Indian -American book why not pick up one of her books which have been around for decade. So it's not that people were interested in our stories , they only got interested when someone sent them a copy . Wanna read about Indians or Indian-Americans ? ask people like us

Absolutely! I think most people don't go out of their way to find new books to read that are out of their comfort zone (me included!). This one was a new YA book that was pushed by the publishing company that's why we read it (we kept seeing it mentioned!).

Hey, I’m trying to find a book I read a while ago but I cannot remember the author or title. It was about these teens who have to go do this trial if they get picked and have to survive out in the wilderness of the US as a apoplectic nation. They then have their memories erased except for the main characters who survive and go to collage. Can anyone help me with the name of it??

I‘m not madly in love with Throne Of Glass, but later books explain how/why she is so good at what she does even after being enslaved for a year and basically a lot of the things you said you didn‘t understand get cleared up later☺️

That's really unfortunate. The author's gonna lose a lot of readers because they didn't make sure the first book made sense on its own.

@@digthewarmth Well, I mean if that particular plotline were to be revealed in the first book it would make the rest of the series very unclimactic😅 It‘s hard to explain if you haven‘t read the books and without spoiling them😂

I 100% agree with your review about the Cursed Child! I didn't even finish it because I was just like UGH really?! I was also thinking the same thing about the Throne of Glass! I just am so annoyed with her character and the whole love triangle thing, the series has kinda left me down. I had such high hopes for this series.

I really did enjoy the Mara Dyer series, but I don't think the first one is the best. The thing with Noah claiming Mara isn't like other girls is because they have complimenting powers and he "saw" her before he even met her. I think that's why he says she's not like other girls and why he was drawn to her. But I agree, it's not a perfect story. (But I still love it!)

Hahaha I HATED Throne Of Glass and the "she wrote it when she was 16" argument pisses me off because I'm like, This is a published book. I don't care if you're 16 or 61. Published books should not be crap. And on the topic of her being malnourished and stuff... she's probably bone thin with rotting teeth and hair falling out (which is what happens when you're malnourished) and yet she's still the most beautiful girl ever. And I'm just like 🙄🙄🙄 (I actually finished the series. Throne Of Glass was shit but Kingdom Of Ash was genuinely one of the best books I've ever read.)

The color pages in some books, like The Gunslinger, are put together in the middle so that they can be printed on the same signature(s). It's cheaper to only run the pages you need to in 4-color. I agree the book is a bit of a mess, but I work in printing and when I first learned this it was mind blowing.
