I kinda love that they said "nice balanced state" while showing F-Hime doing her thing. The video was good, though. I'm glad we have Akshon eSports covering so much FGC stuff for the last year, variety channels like that (and people like Max) are the type of stuff that bridges the gap to wider audiences. And people like you as well, as shown with the V-Tuber content last year.

5:20, no joke, this reminds me of somebody on Twitter showing their work of making a legit Helltaker fighting game. From just a few still images, they got some decent sprite WIPS right now. It's freaking impressive and kinda motivational.

6:40 This right here. Being able to express yourself through your gameplay is so important I feel. I don't wanna play the hyper efficient Milia/Sol or whatever everyone else plays, I much prefer being a Ciel who is clever with their key use, does weird combos and goes for weird gambles. Loving the hell out of this Melty.

The truth is that it all goes back to Fate no matter what. Carnival Phantasm done goofed up releasing the update. Sometimes the deepest lore has the deepest jokes.

Yeah, I still find it weird that Melty Blood does not have Tsukihime in its title, but I suppose that’s Japan naming schemes in a nutshell. Like how Bravely Default 2 is the third game in its series. Anyways this is a cool little documentation for me, as someone who was a baby when Melty Blood first came out.

Isn't because they (Bravely Default) are basically doing the Final Fantasy thing where each numbered entry is its own separate world/story? I agree it's weird, but as a Kingdom Hearts fan I've seen worse. Far, far worse. (II.9 Final Chapter Prologue, *shudders*)

@@riotkitty Nier I can explain. Original Nier was a spinoff of Drakenguard, and had almost nothing to do with it except using the joke ending as an inciting incident. Other than that and some easter eggs/references, it had nothing to do with Drakenguard, and referencing Drakenguard in the title would've been more disingenuous/misleading. For Nier Automata, Yoko Taro wanted to tell a completely separate story, but the name Nier had brand recognition, so having that name on the game was a requirement to get the game greenlit. So he set is thousands of years in the future, made it a disconnected as possible except, again, using the ending of Nier as a starting point, and used the name to show its in the same universe. For other series though, they all have weird quirks. Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and so on. Hell, the "Tales of" series has some games set in the same timelines, just far in the past/future, but you wouldn't know that without looking at the wiki.

A good video that showcases a lot of cool (and funny and silly) stuff from Melty over the years is a video called "Best moments of Melty Blood" by Melty Bread. Awesome and hilarious video, and I definitely recommend checking it out.

Probably but the name is actually pronounced Nero Caesar. If you want to know the reason why you say it like that it's connected to Hebrew and coded apocalyptic literature relating the Roman Emperor Nero to the Beast of 666. Since Nrvnqsr has 666 beasts in him. That's the reference.

Since I'm a newcomer to fighting games and don't have much experience I have a question. Is Melty Blood a good start or should I go with Guilty Gear Strive?

I'd recommend joining the Melty or local FGC discords! There's also the mizuumi wiki which has details and resources for your characters. There's also a dash macro if you're struggling with learning to dash, but dash macros are only in a few fgs these days such as GG:ST and uniclr. Apart from that I'd recommend the above^^^ and good luck :D
