    Thanks for the great YT content as always Ben. Do you think there's any importance in considering that for live tournaments, were seeing so many fewer hands compared to online, that maybe we can deviate away from some of these ICM considerations at least during early and middle stages of the tournament, and try to maximize value even if its marginal since we don't get as many opportunities

    Hey Ben, Can you help me understand something? I’m a noob and struggling to see the relevance between pot odds/equity and tournaments since “the long run” doesn’t help if you’re out of chips. If I get 4:1 on an all-in and have an open ended straight draw on the flop, i’m priced in to call but 2/3 of the time i’m about to to home. It doesn’t seem like being priced in to call matters nearly as much in tournaments than cash. What am I missing here?

    Do you think your opponent is just a tight recreational who’s never bluffing that you fold the AKo on QJT hearts must be a extremely player dependant fold. I realize there are a lot of turns that aren’t fun for you, but yeah.. can you talk more about your decision there?

    the raise was too bjg, there's sinply no reason to call that big raise with no heart in hand because you are drawing dead against a flopped flush

  • @Mwuesse

    @Mwuesse

    Жыл бұрын

    @@dariomladenovski6481 How was it too big, it was a normal raise size - or did you just mean too big for us to have to defend? Drawing dead against a flopped flush isn't a good reason alone to fold although it is part of the reason. I guess it's the fact we have such a big range advantage on this board that opponent has to be extremely polarized to ever raise here that all of our non-flushes are bluff catchers. (since you wouldn't expect a competent villain to raise 89, K9 or sets here if they had them) - since they're all bluff catchers it's better to continue with a range of bluff catchers that can improve. (so A/K high FDs, sets, 2 pair would even be better) - AK without a h is near the bottom of our range and can be folded without being exploited. Now against a bad opponent in a regular game you might be used to playing who could be raising here with 89 and sets then yeah - you might not want to fold to the flop raise here.

    Addamo k3o call streets seems loose to me on AKxxQ. Is that supposed to be standard?

  • @peterbrottman7187

    @peterbrottman7187

    Жыл бұрын

    It's a pretty standard call vs Ben since Adamo beats all the bluffs and doesn't block any of the bluffs. Ben's bluffs are QJ/QT/JT, and he has all off them, plus the flush draws. The 3d though I think is irrellevant as a blocker since the only 3d that Ben opens from that position is 33 and A3s, maybe K3s, but Ad and Kd are both on the board. Vs a weak player I would be more inclined to fold, but vs Ben, a worldclass player, I think it's indifferent. And Adama blocks AK/KK/KQ Count the combinations of bluffs vs value hands, then make your decision :)

  • @Romans8-9

    @Romans8-9

    Жыл бұрын

    @@peterbrottman7187 Surely there are icm implications to folding aswell. I dont think blocking AK is that relevant since Ben will go 3 streets with all sorts of Ax. I think its a stubborn call since river means another bluff combo gets there. Also what brick flush draws does Ben have that he really goes 3 streets? Only can think of 98s, T9s, J9s. Some of Bens Qx will check too since the flush bricks (Addamo can have flush cards too and an A himself which he wont fold), its not necessarily an insta jam. JT is the nuts by the way. I also think considering the calibre of opposition, K3o is a very loose defend against Ben who is not opening HJ 15bb willy nilly. "Count the combinations of bluffs vs value hands, then make your decision :)" If value hands outnumber bluffs doesnt that make the call not standard?

  • @peterbrottman7187

    @peterbrottman7187

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Romans8-9 Yeah, JT ofc is the nuts haha! Turning QJ/QT into a bluff OTR is very viable though imo, w the blockers. Hard to say who's right or wrong, depends on strategy, range, board etc. But Addamo knows that Ben can put immense pressure vs Addamo´s marginal made hands, even as you say w hands like J9/T9/98. Hard to even call w Ax there since Ben has them too. Addamo also get very good pot odds, 4:1, so he only need to be good 20% of the time. Agreed on the loose call by Adamo preflop, it has to be bottom of the range there.
