    The Clay Lab Staff has delivered once again!!!. Hands down, this is the best clay sports shooting channel on KZread. I appreciate each episode and I feel as if I am gaining more knowledge each time I watch. Most episodes I watch more than once. As someone that started wearing prescription glasses several years ago, the cost of prescription shooting glasses can be quite expensive. I wish I knew this information 5 years ago. However, moving forward I believe that I will have to upgrade to RE. Thanks to The Clay Lab Staff for producing value added information to the shooting sports. It doesn't go without notice or appreciation.

    I purchased a set of RE Ranger Edge RIACT's and really enjoyed them. On a whim I tried the Pillas to compare and really I feel like you could wear either. I have learned a lot from the Clay Lab vidoes on what to look for, with my eyes and my light sensitivity, the Pillas seem to be better for me right now. Definitely not getting rid of of my Rangers as I like to try different things. Ranger has a great product in the RIACT lenses.

    Thanks, Jeff. I think you’re right on the mark. I haven’t personally had the opportunity to try Pillas yet, but know that they’re using high-quality Trivex lenses made by Zeiss (the same folks who make the operating microscope I use in my real job). Both Rangers and Pillas ought to have excellent clarity. I also understand that Castellani offers some excellent glasses as well (also on my list to try). A ton of it comes down to personal preference, as you said. Just happy to have such excellent products out there!

    I have two pair of Ranger Classics with an assortment of lenses that I have had for years. However, my favorite Ranger frame is the XLW. Since they are not offering the RIACT lenses for that frame, as impressive as the lenses look, I guess I'll stick with my HD lenses. Unless, of course, you can get them to expand their offering to other frames, now that you guys know somebody who knows somebody.

    @kurthansma9598

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@RhymeNologist Scott, I have not tried the Falcons, but I assume the bayonet ear pieces are similar. The Edge frames are available with the cable style, which is what my Classics have and despite tweaking and bending I find they become uncomfortable after long periods, and they are available with the skull style, which I haven't tried, but I doubt they are more comfortable than my XLWs. I like to have pair on my face and another pair above the brim of my hat, one with dark lenses and one with light. That way I can just change glasses as light conditions change without fooling around with lenses and with my luck dropping them in the dirt. In order to change frame styles I would need to spend $400 for two frame sets and then spend $500-$800 to get the RIACT lenses. Probably not willing to do that considering the hundreds of dollars I all ready have tied up in Ranger products. If I could get RIACT lenses for my XLWs I'd probably be willing to give them a try.

    Would you say RIACT is a better option for colorblind shooters? I currently used the medium HDs and like them a lot. I'm red color deficient (strong protan, see too much green and not enough red). I'm wondering if these would be better or worse for color deficient shooters.

  • @claylabusa

    @claylabusa

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi, that’s an excellent question. For colorblind shooters, I would think lens color selection would be a lot more important. The RIACT are amazing, but are designed to replicate a fairly normal color palate with some enhancement of orange (or that has been our experience, at least). You might want to experiment with different colors, but the HD medium is a great choice (my personal favorite up until HD Medium comes out). One of the best resources out there for color blindness issues is Dennis Springer at ClayTargetVision.com. He mainly works with Pillas, but could likely give you some guidance. Super nice and super smart guy.

    Hey, the prescription lenses are for the edge frames, and the lenses actually have the prescription built in (like a normal pair of prescription sunglasses). Not sure about the installment part but if you are having issues with a prescription being made then I would talk to Dr Richard Colo. Most days I shoot his Drive Safe Clear lenses with a ridiculous amount of Anti-Reflextant coating on them. I've seen him make "coke bottle" size lenses so he is probably your best chance. Dr Colo isn't accessible from the UK and once you move to an OEM lens you can't get the same product. Why haven't RE produced React AI for the XLW frames, the only frame that you can get an insert for?

  • @claylabusa

    @claylabusa

    6 ай бұрын

    Ed Lyons is likely your best option out of the UK, however Dr. Colos prescription services don't always require him in person as he has a set of instructions that can be given to your local optometrist and all he needs is the info returned to have glass cut for you. For the point on inserts, it's my understanding that like Dr. Colo, Ranger has moved away from inserts as they are not the most effective form of Rx you can get when it comes to performance in their newer frame designs. They make individual Rx Lenses which is a more costly but technically more effective since you are looking through one lens instead of two. If you want to know the science behind it I'd recommend a call a colo/email to Colo. He is more helpful remotely then you may think. There is a reason he has pros and instructors calling him ona constant basis. Hope that helps. Thanks for being a channel subscriber!

    @@claylabusa But having to use Ed or Dr Colo means prescription users can't experience React lenses. If the coatings another lab uses are good enough then what is so special about the React coatings. I also struggled to get my prescription thin enough at the outside to fit in an Edge frame. I've tried two UK labs and both have failed.
