I know this is childish, but I can't help but wish that there is SOME kind of good ending for Gold later down the road. Like an ending that involves doing the burnt path, but being able to get something that changes the outcome, like an item or a TM that could be taught to that Celebi that let's it defeat Ho-Oh, and maybe let Gold wake up from this hell he's forced to be in, to be stuck reliving things over and over again

A bit rad that one of my favorite pastas is being worked on to this day. Though the story seems to be taking a more in universe type of tragedy rather than the symbolic tragedy back when only the main and hidden endings were there. If the story is no longer about Gold coming to terms that he and his adventure will end and be forgotten to time, excited to see the lore if any more comes out of it.

The way the trainer battle sprites slide in with missing body parts in pure silence after you murder their Pokémon is super unsettling. I love it

something very interesting to me is the dialogue in the Sprout Tower segment, right before the Silver battle happens. the text the elder says about "the way you battle is too harsh. Pokemon are not tools of war..." was dialogue in the original games, but it was said to Silver (the rival). the fact that this is being said to Gold instead of Silver makes me wonder if in this story, Gold is treating his Pokemon harshly, which leads to him (perhaps arrogantly) going to battle Ho-Oh, because he wants to be the best, and he wants nothing to stop him, just like the famous Trainer Red. he even uses his precious legendary Pokemon Celebi to fight Ho-Oh. of course, the Celebi ends up suffering due to Gold's decision. perhaps I'm looking into it too deeply, but that one bit of dialogue is making me rethink the story of Lost Silver. it kind of adds up more, thinking of how the Unown are kind of mocking Gold a lot during the game (i.e. spelling out "TOO BAD" when you refuse to turn back, saying "HE DIED" when Hurry faints) maybe the Unown are meant to torment Gold for the way he treated his Pokemon, because he was too caught up in being the best? either way, I was always a fan of Lost Silver, and I am really excited to see more of your work, whether its of Lost Silver or a different Pokepasta entirely!

@@ReiddMaxwell ik i've asked before, but even with all the clues I still can't piece together what happened to gold in LS, and I also have alot of questions that probably won't be answered even though another ending, such as: 1(Who is forever the houndoom? Are they some sort of deity in gold's purgatory? Why do they help gold remember his identity? What's with their sudden disappearance?) 2(What's up with RED and Silver? Are they dead too or are they just part of gold's fragmented memories? What is silver sorry for? Who's the person that appears at 1:34? Why does pikachu hate RED and what injured and killed feraligatr?) and 3( Did Ho-Oh actually kill gold? Who was gold trying to bring back from the dead? Or was it just gold's mind tricking them into thinking he can revive himself, and loses because he CAN'T win as it isn't actually real?) Ik you probably don't have answers for these since the og creator is MIA, but these questions literally haunt me whenever I think of LS, rant aside you've done a great job on LS and I can't wait for the next ending if you ever plan on making one!

I think I've figured it out, or at least have some idea of what's happening. Gold foolishly used his Celebi in a battle against Ho-oh, and now either (a) Celebi and Gold are in a time loop, desperately trying to avoid death, or (b) Celebi is vengefully haunting Gold, getting payback for his recklessness.

I feel like the time loop is more likely. Maybe the Unown want to kill Gold for some reason, and every time Gold avoids death by going another route, they set up some elaborate plan to send Gold back to where he began to show him he can't escape his fate

I think what happend is that gold used celebi to capture ho-oh but failed and either burned both of them alive or burned celebi if celebi was the only one burned gold lives the regret of doing so, and is living his failures by repeatedly being tortured by unowns

I think the ruins route simbolises how gold probably unintentional caused silver to be forgotten and his dead being relegated to that trainer who fought gold, and the route would be gold puting in his shoes literally seing silver perspective on the tower, and this would be why he is faceless with his ferraligator trying to stop gold from escaping and thinking they are even for what gold did to him

even after so many years, seeing this still being worked on kinda makes me feel warm in the inside.

Lost silver was one of my favourites back in the day, nowadays I like the Unown King because of how it doesn’t seem all too unrealistic nowadays (we have another cannon example of someone being killed by a Pokémon now even), and I’m making a fan region with not only a Pokémon inspired by it that resides in a location known as the Barrier Dimension, an endless expanse of snowfields and caverns in which Sinnoh was made in the image of, and a being known as The Decay that is the manifestation of entropy and destruction

It's wild that you're still working on this. Thank you so much for making one of my first horror experiences, and for the great memories. 💙

I’m thinking lore either works one of these ways 1. Gold dies in a freak accident whilst fighting his rival (I’m forgetting names lol) which causes him unable to move on) this is my least likely 2. He dies fighting ho-oh, this would explain why he’s got celebi still, he could always be regretting what led him to fight Ho oh and the people who encouraged him (mid likely) Now here’s what I believe happened Gold dies fighting red on mt silver, either due to exhaustion or brutal weather that none of them could predict as snow is very rare on mt silver, gold blames red Hense why he keeps seeing him in his limbo and being the cause of him remembering. Gold probably heard about the legend of ho oh before coming to mt silver so probably knows about the whole “if you wish apon Ho oh your wish will always come true” thing Hense why he tries to fight ho oh in his limbo yet keeps on failing to catch/defeat it. The limbo ends on the “normal” route where he discovers he’s been dead this entire time and finally comes to accept it Hense the grave shot. Edit- I fucking called silver gold that entire time lollll

Well, the ASHES route raises some interesting possibilities. Here's my thoughts: 1. Typhlosion in this timeframe is level 90. And male. I don't think that's the mother, it's the son. This is a long while *after* the events of HIDDEN. 2. A few of those signs indicate Celebi being reluctant. But later, they seem to be "ready". 3. Celebi and Ho-oh would both be logical ways to try bringing someone back to life. And if Gold had already completed the pokedex, they've been captured by him before, so surely getting their help would be simple, right? Wrong. Celebi knows this isn't going to end well. Ho-oh's reaction is to brutally kill Celebi - and Gold - to prevent him from resurrecting the starter with either of their powers. But Celebi dying that way causes their time powers to contribute to the purgatory Gold finds himself in.

I always loved how this makes you scared by being unsettling. It doesn't rely on cheap jumpscares or loud noises to spook you.

List of Unown messages: LEAVE (when you have HURRY) TOO BAD (upon saying NO when asked TURN BACK NOW) RELIVE (in the labyrinth) XXXX (when you have PLEASE in the party) DEXX (when PLEASE is cut in half) DENY (after PLEASE dies, stays that way until you complete the Hidden Route) WHO ARE YOU KID (the trainers in Goldenrod; this message appears twice, the first time being scrambled) HE DIED (after HURRY dies) DIED HE (arrangment of HE DIED that triggers the Ruins route) DIE (the Unowns in the ruins; possibly what Forever thinks of Gold) SORRY (Silver's Unown) DYING (in the Red Pillar Room, before completing the Ashes route) BURNT (in the Red Pillar Room, after completing the Ashes route) NO MORE (after defeating Red) IM DEAD [sic] (in the final graveyard, before the game says "RIP ...", or "RIP Pokemon Trainer Gold") Note that, in the Ruins route, LEAVE, HE DIED, DYING and NO MORE appear as wall inscriptions.

Looking back on this and remembering those notes from years back, I still wonder about the more abstract stuff in here. There is a fairly clear story here of Gold's achievements causing him to become arrogant, and seek out Ho-Oh for the sake of eternal glory. And then there's the obvious symbolic stuff like the elder giving him Flash, which his Pokémon use several times throughout this story to light the way for him, whilst he scolds Gold on his harsh treatment of Pokémon; without them, after all, he's nothing. But what is the "[][]" item; why does it put Pokémon to sleep? Why is Gold so adamant about not discarding it? And is the trade where he gets Houndoom supposed to mean something in particular? It's a literal hellhound, so maybe it represents Gold metaphorically selling his soul for power and fame? This is the kind of stuff about old Creepypasta games that's actually interesting to think about, and it makes me wish more stories from its time had that level of subtlety and depth. Whatever the case, great job adapting those notes. The presentation is great and the dark, suspenseful atmosphere is lovely. I remember there being something about a bizarre Unown battle at the very end if the player completed all the paths, will you eventually add that as well?

Maybe Gold trading FOREVER, and then the screen shifting to him fighting Red, and then the picture of him crying blood, meant that he traded his entire life ("forever") or his afterlife for the goal of defeating Red. And doing so is why he's suffering.

Every now and then, the background noise of the starting area randomly starts playing in my brain. It's so simple and weird, it's just so unforgettable, even after all these years. I love it.

I really love how far you came just to create a full experience that's actually playable for this creepypasta. It feels really accurate to gb pokemon games, movement, ui and yada yada yada, you nailed it. However, the only thing I couldn't get myself to like is the artwork at 25:47, it kinda breaks the immersion that you're actually playing a gb game, i know it's supposed to be accurate to the creepypasta as well, but a bad quality drawing being displayed in a gameboy is hard to swallow. Without any further ado, I loved this new version, good job mate!

The original creepypasta did say it was in GBC form, I guess Reidd didn't have enough time to have an artist manually convert that image to like something that only uses 8-16 colors.

Honestly, lost silver is my all time favorite creepypasta because it's actually one of the pieces that inspired me to become a writer. It had such an impact on me that I wanted to make a story like this. It's also so cool that you're continuously working on it after all these years. Keep up the good work!

I think I've encountered a bug: In the "Ashes" path, if you check on the trainer card, Gold's sprite is still the armless sprite (unless that's intentional).

This is an awesome remake! I like that there are new endings to this game. Keep up the good work!

It took me a little bit to understand what happened, but I think I understand it as I watch it again. Gold was heading to the top of the tower to face Ho-oh with Celebi and his other Pokemon. This turned out to be a fatal mistake, and when Ho-oh used Sacred Fire, it didn't just kill Celebi, but Gold as well. Now, he's in this purgatory reliving it all because he can't let go.

I noticed that the Feraligatr in the Hidden route has scratches where the eyes should be, when in the original 2010 Lost Silver (Hidden), it didn't have anything. Kinda curious where that design detail came from

It could be based on their design in the FNF: Lullaby mod. During the song with these two, both are still eyeless. However, if you loose, the Feraligatr will wake up, opening its eyes by ripping the skin that covers it, and killing our character. I could be wrong, but this the only other instance I know of it.

you know what's funny? I didn't realize it until people told me, because when I went back and checked, one original spritesheet my spriter sent me did *not* have this version of Feraligatr (in fact it looked identical to the old one), but when I got sent the final version I just copied & pasted the new sprite without realizing there was a change made to the eyes.

Reidd still out here keeping it alive. 😁

I wonder what this wonderful and scary story means. Why did Gold go through this and end up with a tragic end for him?

There's an extra 'A' in "Pikachu's ATTAACK rose" after using Curse, also the perish count timer doesn't decrease properly after Pain Split. Pretty cool to see Lost Silver have a fan game. A classic Pokemon creepypasta.

i feel like this is the only space i can say this in and it won't come off as weird but i first read the original lost silver creepypasta in 7th/8th grade back in 2010 and then watched a video of someone playing through it shortly after and i'm not going to lie, to this day, it is still the scariest thing ever. this creepypasta quite literally forged and shaped everything that i am afraid of to this day. i have the weirdest fears because of this. long tunnels that progressively get darker, obscure puzzles with decrypt messages, low pitch/high bass 4-8bit sounds, hauntings within games, oh man...

Oh WOW. I can't believe that after all this time the Embers path was released! I really hope that this story gets finished with the remaining content! Still gives me the creeps to this day lol. I was frozen watching this. Felt a glimmer of hope for Gold in the nice version of Goldenrod but that all came crashing down after Sacred Fire xD. I don't know that the final ending will be, but hopefully there is some good news for Gold to have a death that isn't filled with...well all that horror.

The final ending that we know of, is a simple white void with the same "Rip PK Trainer Gold" text. It's very ambiguous so, we can essentially interpret it as an ending where Gold doesn't necessarily get forgotten after all this time and they just die peacefully, knowing their actions did matter. This comes from beating one final glitch battle (that's currently not implemented yet), and if you lost it, you would get what's probably the worst ending in the game, a red version of the graveyard with the text box only containing ... not even a Rip.

The only major thing left that has yet to be added from the creepypasta is a final "glitch" battle once you reach the last graveyard room and have done all the secret paths beforehand. It would be a battle where you can win or lose it and get two different endings as a result and winning the battle would give you the true final ending to the creepypasta being a simple white void and a text box. Because of only vague details being given about the fight, like that it "doesn't make sense whatsoever", it will take quite a good amount of time for it to be implemented. And I don't believe Reidd is considering adding extra content and stuff to the routes that really wasn't in the creepypasta, unless necessary.

OMG I LOVE THE UPLOAD CONSISTENCY! Amazing work!!! Sorry but may I add a little more to this? I never really got into creepypasta but this one in particular I just loved so much because I liked Pokemon at the time. I didn’t even understand anything when I first watched the gameplay and read the actual thing (nor do I understand completely even now) but I love the effort you put into this stuff! not exactly a bug, but there seems to be a debug feature leftover in battle screens, pressing 0, 1, or 2 changes the enemy pokemon's unleash frame

huh, according to original story for ashes path(is in a community post, can't find ruins or hidden though) it doesn't have the line at 22:20, although from original path seems like gold still very clearly has a full pokedex anyways, so he definitely isn't trying to catch ho-oh imo; the sign at 22:40 says "HE AWAITS" originally, and after the the "CELEBI was bu" screen you were sent to the start of lost silver, not immediately into the red pillar room regardless, I think this is turning out really well! I'm excited to see what else you do with it in the future, I love the sprites(although sometimes is weird that overworld sprites and trainer sprites aren't always the same, unless it's for consistency with og story it's kinda weird imo) and everything is really well done

The ruins path was never revealed by the author in full, only vague details regarding it that can't really be pieced together into something on par with the other paths (which is why re: lost silver takes many liberties and adds stuff that probably wasn't there so the path was still interesting thematically). And we will probably never know the complete story for it considering how long gone the author has been. Also the line at 22:20 is just an exclusive addition meant to fit in with the sequence's theme of having all the character say hopeful things to Gold while in character, so Reidd just did it anyway necessary.

Hey, Reidd. I'm curious about something in this game. What's the idea behind the whole route about that Houndoom called, Forever? Is that actually canon to the Lost Silver creepypasta because I couldn't find any official story about it from the maker of the creepypasta itself other than the original story, them mentioning the Hidden route, and that route about the glitchy Ilex Forest. 🤔

@@littlebigplanet678 Technically it’s the second piece of the story after the hidden path. The final void path with the slide show is also something only mentioned in the author’s notes. Completing every path in order would result in one final glitch battle that would give you two unique endings if you won or lost, the bad ending was losing and it was a red grave yard with a text box stating … And the good ending was winning the battle which resulted in a white void with the text box stating rip pk trainer gold, which was said to be the final ending to the game. However this battle has not yet been adapted in playable form because nobody knows how it could have played, it was said to be nonsense and have sprites constantly changing with unowns appearing too. So it will take quite some time before it’s added, but that’s the last major canon thing Re: Lost Silver could have added.

Yeah maybe at some point I can come up with something for the last unown battle that doesn't just look like fanfic from my end. I've noticed reading the comments that the ashes path of the story has a lot more positive reception that the ruins of alph part that I mostly came up with on my own. I'm just no storyteller lol

​@@ReiddMaxwell Ironic since I do think the ruins of alph path is generally the most fun part of the game, since there is actually gameplay with the puzzles besides walking around. Trying to solve them is pretty nice, and I do think some of the ways you came up with, to move the plot forward were pretty clever, like with the NPC in the research center.

That’s literally apart of the original creepypasta though, at least in canon, because it’s a part of one of the alternate secret routes from the author’s notes before he vanished. It is true that one of the screenshots on the route was of a hyper realistic depiction of gold, though it would have been in a GBC color palette and here it’s not, which is supposed to be changed in a update which hasn’t come yet.

Experienced a softlock- if you talk to Silver a second time after fighting the Feraligatr/Totodile, He says 'Even' again and then you lose control of the player character.

Here are some suggestions: For the Silver fight, do you think you could skip the EXP point gain to make the fight go by smoother? Also, for Silver's sprite, make him look down so his hair is in his face, which would make him seem even more crippled. And, after Gold is in the grave, wouldn't it make more sense if he had 0 dollars?

Could use captions to tell us what the unowns are saying because you didn't want to manually go through each one(understandable) but not everyone has the original memorised and this version has new ones too

24:46 - There's a typo: Attack is misspelled as "Attaack" That aside, this is absolutely brilliant! I really love seeing how much this has been expanded on, rather than it be a straight path to the end, it instead has you explore, making you wonder what has happened, what's going on; it fills you with dread and curiosity at the same time. Will there happen to be any other endings, perhaps?

just download it my guy :) and if you use the Unown Pokedex on this game, then use the Select key (mapped to Backspace) to use the unowns to spell "SNOW" then you can play snow on mt. silver

hate to bother again, but the 1.3.1 patch still has the pokegear crash the game when opened up in the menu, and in the alternate route feraligatr battle, in the forced item selection menu, the "CANCEL" option is counted as an item and can be selected

no please don't feel bad about reporting these! i'm so glad I'm having them brought to my attention so i can fix them :) I tested the executable this time and it runs fine now, but let me know if it's broken somewhere else. The only bad thing is that I'm not aware of a way to do auto-updates in program, so each of these bug fixes require a re-download D: newest version is now 1.3.2

That's how the original game displays it, it's intentional. In the 2010 version I flipped it so it's easier to read, but I didn't think that was very genuine so I changed it back.

Another Comment from me but here goes this from hack explains of how gold died, was forgotten, and faded away into being "one of many trainers who made history but are forgotten by the future generations of trainers" Gold died when he tired to use celebit against ho-oh but he was burnt to death the pokemon of rebirth for this greed and now is in a limbo like state. endings in chronological order are: Burned ending, Who are you kid ending and lastly Cannon ending.

"A game so old, they run through an emulator and rewrote it" -My father I guess.
