A couple years ago I saw three deer fall through the ice on the river by my house,it was not funny,they went under and fought like hell to come back up,two froze and stayed under one froze and got stuck in the ice,smelt terrible when spring came around and the half eaten deer started to really rot.

Would’ve been funny if Arthur would’ve said: “Woo... nearly shit myself”

I’m not an expert, but there are videos of people standing up to a bear-mind you, the bear wasn’t charging, just approaching-and the bears will back down. But if you’re near cubs, or the bear is actually charging, something tells me standing your ground won’t work

fun fact: if you do this with a black bear it'll just keep on running away, even if you chase it down on foot. they do this because black bears are significantly smaller than grizzly bears and IRL are kinda chicken.

True, but they are also the only bear, besides polar bears, that attack humans for predatory reasons. They almost never attack humans, but when they do it’s to eat them, but yeah they are chickens and if you give them too much trouble than your worth they’ll back off.

Love how he just casually says " don't do nothing dumb" at the end when the bear is 2nd guessing its attack. I really feel like the bear should fear Arthur here. This game and all the voice acting sells so perfectly.

I tried this before i even watched this video (which led me here), but after the bear turned around i moved and the bear turned back around and attacked me. Probably because i moved.

I still get shivers

I’ve tried to do this every time and it just seemed to never work, I wasn’t moving either so I’m not sure.

If they're charging and youre moving it wont work. As they get ready to charge, or "bump their scruff", and show their size, stay still.

I think it's a hit or miss. No guarantee. But when I found that sucker, I had to try it. And turned out quite cinematic at the end with all the fog rolling in. It's all raw footage straight from my ps4.

The amount of incredible details in this game is fucking overwhelming.

Dude’s on a frozen lake, slipping... that bear has some claws and padding... what a madman.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

The bear can see in Arthur's eyes he isn't afraid and is like wow this dude is cool or he thinks Arthur is up to something and im getting out of here.

Arthur is so badass that he didn't even flinched and the bear respected that

Wow. Just wow. I’m currently going through my second run through of this game and it literally never seizes to amaze me, day in day out, this vid included. By far the most impressive game I have had the pleasure to play.

If you can't outrun it or hide somewhere high, staring at a big animal is the best thing you can do, and running away aka turning your back at him is the worst thing you can do.

The main missions literally just came down to either following a specific path laid out by developers and doing step 1 step 2 step 3 or just shooting. Graphics are amazing and the level of detail is dope af, but lets not sit here and act like the gameplay was anything but generic.

This is probably the best thing you could do irl bears aren’t used to other animals being louder than them so if you scream louder than they’re used to they’ll most likely back off. Grizzlies are different however if you encounter a grizzly then good luck

Makes me want to finish this game for the 3rd time now.

Surprised Arthur is not a lot shorter in stature, you would think the shear weight of his enormous brass balls would pull him downwards. What a Legend.

I always leave my horses behind before entering the snowy mountains, it adds more realism

Wow this game will always be one of the most underrated masterpieces. The attention to detail in impeccable, you could call this game practically a simulation of real life in the Wild West

Love the fact that they made the grizzly so realistic cause it won't attack if you play dead or just stand still.

The title is so badass, it's like a metal song title.

it just looks kinda janky since it goes from really fast to stopping super quick, it needs to stop really fast and look unnatural while also looking like its not gunna stop in order to scare the player into moving and messing this up, like getting into the players head IRL

Guys just take a moment and think about how your heart is pounding when this bear comes near to you.

You all know if it was Micah instead of Arthur, he’d be a bloody smear on that ice.

From what I've heard/read, there is no chance this could happen IRL. Most likely the bear would charge and wouldn't stop. Still, I was so pumped that this worked out like this.

Kinda yeah. There’s a video on KZread of a hunter being charged by a black bear I think but the bear was bluff charging at him and stopped and turned the other way. Not sure if a grizzly would do that tho 😂

Can we talk about how fucking annoying the camera shakes are when you’re in a gunfight or facing a predator? I get it’s supposed to be intense, but it’s just annoying. In the first game the camera didn’t shake at all and it made aiming much easier

It's true to life though. Cortisol is a stress hormone that can cause heavy shakes. It's only rational that that hormone would spike in all the activities you mentioned

Such a gorgeous game, I wish I enjoyed it more. I played maybe 2 hours total since launch and haven’t touched it again

The animations aee the best in any video game, even the subtle leg slip on the ice.

All the ice slippering detail but no flow into the bear's animation between charging, stopping and staying. It just jitters randomly into another set of animation.

One of the best and most detailed game I've played. I wish they would somehow patched the controls (or if there was a mod) that Arthur controls more like most games with the analogue stick pushing fully make him run and without the need to hold or press another button; make everything more directly and responsive. Would play again 100 hours of this game.
